Very entertaining and I like your decision making process. Speaking as one who has made the mistake of top crash landing due to insufficient height. It looks like a more appealing site in the film than on paper. What did you think?

@IANRPARKER Hi Ian. I Fly at Monks quite a bit because it is very close. Its great when your on your own but its very small. When its thermic and people are at different heights its fine but in ridge lift more than two gliders would seem crowded. It can be very turbulent due to the ridges out front. It has a very easy bottom landing which is nice.Definitely worth a visit in my book. Very rare to see HG's there over winter except me!
