SC should go back to these uniforms, but keep the metalic-gold helmets currently used. That would be a great look for a great band. Easily the most famous, most prominent, largest and best marching band in the West. Oh, and they play one of the most famous and well-recognized fight songs in the nation. Fight On Forever Trojans!
Why does the USC (Dr. Bartner) pay so little attention to details. They march as if they don't give a damn. Just sort of out there taking a leisurely "strol." Really nochalant style. Body carriage is bad. The position of the instruments is awaful. Some horns are aimed up, other are aimed toward the ground. Has nothing to do with different heights. USC: Look at band such as Ohio State if you want to discover what attention to details is. You look even worse in person. I've seen you.
@MrOu83 Well, I have seen the OSU band in person, and they are quite good. So is the USC band, and most objective people would agree. Not sure what the motivation for the little tirade against the famed Trojan Band is - perhaps it is the fact that OSU has not beaten USC on the football field in what? 35 years? 1980, 85, 89, 90, 08, 09 - Buckeye losses - some ass whippings. Maybe OSU football could "discover what attention to detail is" from SC and learn how to beat ANY Trojan team in 4 decades!
I was there too (quad section leader) and LOVE the old band uniforms. They made us all look much taller (without the silly white fronts they've used since 1987 or so) and the capes with the "Greek Key" design were so much cooler than the current yellow/gold ones.
that was back when football halftime shows were actually football halftime shows, not those pseudo rock concerts they have today. i miss the good ole days.
Wow back in the days when they actually showed the half time shows at the bowl games. I danced in the Sugar Bowl in 1999 and we all worked our asses off that week and they didn't show any of the half time only the stupid sports announcers!
It's not Dr. Bartner. Pretty sure its the drum major. Dr. Bartner was acutally on the field helping to set up the Statue of Liberty prop for the finale. You can a clear shot of him in front of the box from 2:20 to 2:30 in the clip.

Old Lady Liberty lurching out of that box was a groaner. She looked as drunk as the boys from frat row. Today we would do it digitally!

They were so much easier to perform in. I think I'm the only one who's been in all three uniforms the last 20 years....

As the statue inflates, it looks like Lady Liberty has a hangover!
proffromgview 4 years ago 3
I agree with 'chilling'--Watching the statue inflate was creepy, like something struggling to life!

im a USC fan, but the song girls are always resistable

i'm pretty sure "chilling climax" is not what that guy meant. maybe thrilling. because chilling is not terribly complimentary.
