  • Fabulous. Just Fabulous.

  • Terrific plane that was a jack of all trades and should still be in service today

  • brilliant!

  • Excellent compilation. Thank you.

  • Bucc one of few bombers taking off with aircraft carrier and with option of use nuclear weapons, my favourite:)

  • absolutely bloody awesome-machines like the buc should be kept in service to this day. A "stop gap" my arse! :)

  • The first track is Marion Barfs 'Requiem for a Dream'. Great clip Funtime Steve.

  • LOL - the Americans make such a fuss about hidden weapons bays on their current fighters. We had them in the late 50's+

  • grew up in Honnigton and remember the bucs taking off and screaming high...american aircraft dogfighting with them.....brilliant....good job i was to young to think of russia and nuclear weapons....

  • I lived in Thetford, Norfolk and in '71 or '72 saw them flying down a road on the estate where I lived. Apparently, Honington were on Taceval and the Bucs were launched probably to attack the airfield. I thought WW3 had started!!

  • I went to Goose Bay in '79 (from memory) to fetch the Bucs home after Red Flag. When they left, we stood on top of one of the hangars to watch. They came back for a beat-up and flew BETWEEN the hangars!!

  • @lanrkav - the splash on the deck launch is the briddle or strop used to attach the bucc to the catapult shuttle on the deck, they fell away after each launch and as far as I know could not or were not ever recovered.

  • What's splashing into the water during catapult take off anyone? Great to see the 'buck' operating off a carrier deck.

  • this would still be the finest low level strike bomber in the world. i hope we've kept some in mothballs

  • TOTALLY INSANE VIDEO!! LOVE THE BUCCANEER!! SHOULD STILL HAVE THEM BUT WITH UPDATED ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS... Buccaneers, i salute you with great respect!! what a plane-ashame the brits don't build things like these any more it's all foreign crap... :/

  • @willbertdsgc bucaneer was awesome way ahead of its time but the typhoon aint exactly crap is it lol

  • Great plane, one tough ole beast

  • never quite understood why the RAF passed up on this beast till they got a job lot when RN got sick of them

  • Firstly, the RN didn't get sick of them - they were forced to give them up when Ark Royal was scrapped

Secondly, the RAF didn't want them at first because they wanted the supersonic-capable TSR.2 instead

  • 12, 208 or 237? I was on 208 Sqn till '90.... loved every minute on these.....

  • i used to work on these, right upto there retirement. Real pain in the ass!! But they were impressive at low leve! Stood on a power set during one fly by, and jumped off when i could see on top of its wings!! Scarey stuff, nothing gets the heart beat going like a good beat up!

  • You're so lucky! I remember these doing displays at Southend Airshow back in the day, even the Tornado display was boring compared to the 'Bucc as they never seemed to get as close to the crowd.

Going to build the Airfix 1/48 kits someday, they are in my collection.

  • @plimthing im actually lol at that comment :)

  • I miss seeing them practice low level bomb runs at the Tain bombing range

  • not just a great plane this is a fantastic bit of kit and i can think of a few places not too far from blighty where it should have been engaged.

  • Glad to see this back online. Its the best of the Bucc tributes.

  • what's this music?

  • 1st track is a version of the 'requiem for a dream' track, the 2nd is a remix of 'ready steady go - Paul Oakenfield'
