This movie is since it cam out and to this day my favourite movie. I think it was written beutifully, well studied, and entertaining. The thing with Jennifer and Marshall's charectors is that their relationship consists of two mental disorders: He's nuts and she suffers from stockholm syndrom.

Ben Foster is an incredible Actor. Seriously, he can honestly send chills up your spine. Annnd I have to say @pyro80 - I don't think ANYONE in their right mind finds Mars 'sweet'. Good looking- sure. Ben Foster is a handsome fellow. Mars is obviously a very sadistic, obsessive sociopath with no real moral knowledge between right and wrong. He may KNOW it is wrong to kill, but he doesn't feel the remorse or regret of killing. Now if he brings you breakfast in bed, maybe he -IS- sweet...lol

1. Ben Foster is an amazing actor

2. The character is so messed up that he makes a great villian who you love to hate by the end.

I love the song and the video, however, do you think it's accurate to call Mar's "infatuation" with Jennifer Smith a relationship? Throughout the entire video, all you see are creepy moments between these two: Jennifer being choked/strangled by him, Mars holding a gun to her head, Jennifer stabbing him in the mouth b/c he was intending to rape her, Mars writing "Burn it" in the bathroom mirror in *his* blood as a message to her...ect. I'd *hardly* call this a relationship.

Near the end of the movie I'm still not sure if when he drops the bottle thus comitting suicide by burning himself to death if he did that intentionally because he decided to spare Jennifer's life or if he was just so wounded he didn't physically have the strength to throw the molotov cocktail at her.

-he thought he was gonna die anyways.

-he knew he was gonna go to jail(he wasnt gonna get away with this)and hes not getting the girl.

If you get/rent the DVD, there is a director's commentary that goes with the movie, and he says that Mars committs suicide by immolating himself because he was *truly* in love with Jennifer, and because he realized that she was too pure and full of light, while he was so full of darkness and evil. Mars kills himself, partly due to immense blood loss (he had gotten shot up in the vents), and also because he realized he could never have a future with her.
