  • That was marvelous. you have outstanding violin skills.

  • Oh - by the way, have you heard the Shlomo Mintz version of this? Probably my favorite version. The one on the old VHS recording that you can find on Youtube.

  • @Sviolinist Let me answer both questions. Yes I am playing them all. I am taking my time perfecting them because life is sweet enough to smell the roses and because I eventually have to find a decent violin to make the recording. I have a few friends and there is always the violin shops again. As to the Mintz recordings. He is like my gold standard. Incredible. I like them better than Rabin and I thought no one was better than Michael Rabin.

  • You're doing very well! Good job. Keep at it. Playing them all, yet? =)

  • I like Paganini Violin concert No.1 very much. I likr Midori's CD.

  • Hi i think that your student is very skillful. I hope play like him. At my Sunday violin lesson I found some informations about Osaka music academy university. I am 51 now, but it seemed to be very atractive. I am thinking to begin start leaning piano again. I am real beginer about piano. and time and money is critical but I am considerating it.

  • YOU ARE A GOOD VIOLONIST WHO PLAYS PAGANINI VERY WELL.THANKS!

  • wow not bad very nice almost there to perfect practice practice practice

  • I don't play the violin but listen a lot & I guess 97 out of 100 for such youthful vituosity!

  • It's awesome... but something was off with you... are you okay? And remember to play to the audience, not the violin, though I'm sure she enjoys attention. ;P

  • impressionante, lindo parabén

  • Really, really, really good.

  • Thanks Philip, you play very well !!!!!

  • hey numanuma, instead of talking about being onvacation and not playing and how you "must marry paganini", why dont you just shut up, buy a violin, and play it.

  • @93thrasher Your funny. Do you have a million dollars?

  • @numanumaviolin that is stupid

  • Now I Want To Learn How To Play The Violin . Excellent! I Felt Like Assisting To A Concert Of Yours.

    SIncerely

  • Great skill but boring piece.

  • I'm not familiar with the piece, but am sure you play it well. However, I could only listen once, as my ear started really hurting, cos of the pitch of some of the notes! I'm deaf in one ear and the good one is hyper-sensitive, making this a painful experience! But that's NOT a reflection on your playing. Any chance you could post something a little more gentle on the ear? Best of luck in your career.

  • I also dont have a violin. I am trying out something which I will reveal to people and hopefully it will be ready to reveal within one month. It will help me borrow a violin and maybe if I am lucky it will help other people borrow violins as well. I will be in touch with you to talk about it. As for tempo. Not sure I am in agreement. We "hear" it faster because we hear it seperate bowings which naturally is faster when I play it that way. Why I dont know. Intonation is not having a violin to pla

  • Excellent work here! Wish I knew someone who would just lend be expensive violins/bows for my auditions >.>

My only main issue here is your tempo...it's definitely written to be played faster. Also, you tend to be sharp with a lot of your notes, mainly higher ones.

But I was truly impressed with the written bowing you honored...that takes mad skill!! I can't do that part yet so great job! :]

  • we believe that the audience would love to hear one of beethovens fine works played by solo violin. that would make an excelent further in your career as a violinist. You play well and seem young for your talent. Grow mentally as well to further wrap your mind around the music. Good Job

  • @DeUnknownOne I agree with you 100% Right now I am not playing at all. On vacation! But whether I like it or not I must marry Paganini for now. I must develop a "large' technique. Anyway although I love other music, I stored it in my old house in Pittsburgh all my music in a large trunk and sublet the apartment. The tenant left after he lost his job around December 2010. My landlords helper not knowing how important it was to me threw it out. I figured if I change my technique I can refinger eas

  • Bravo, man.

Were you reading music from behind the camera, or is that played by memory?

Usually when I'm bored I listen to well known musicians. You sir, are going to be one! Keep it up.

  • @Skatrav Thank you so much. I was not reading the music. I actually made the recording on the sly a little. There was a cardholder in the violin bow shop where I borrowed the bow. I put my camera on that so it angled up. So happy the card holder was there. I will tell my friend Issac Salchow from the violin bow shop about the recording someday, but he doesnt really mind either way I am sure. He did ask about the bow though and I told him that the piece is hard no matter what but the bow helps.

  • You can play that without actually owning your own violin? Yeah, respect right there.

  • it's nice

  • It's excellent. But remember as a musician (especially as a soloist) you are an entertainer. I realize the music is difficult enough - but a little 'connect' to the audience would add to the experience.

I mean, you don't have to have an orgasm or make love to the instrument like Yo Yo Ma - but some eye contact, a smile or two.

I hope you have a brilliant career!

  • @HickysBoy You dont know how much I agree with you but I was terrified when I played the piece. If I messed up I would have had nothing, and I need at least one decent demonstration to go to the next level. I cant wait to be more like Yo Yo Ma. Also one or two incidents in the last year left me bewildered when I was misunderstood. My love and giving was taken for selfishness or something like that. I decided to have no mistakes for a while but now it is time to go back to love. I will evolve.

  • Congratulations man, wonderful !

  • Nice!

  • Stop whining. There are nothing but positive comments here. The only thing people mentioned were the high notes. If I heard this in concert I'd be thrilled just that somebody is playing Paganini, let alone well.

  • @SOCOM018 When the video first came out it was only negative comments. I erased them. I also had 11 negative feedback and no positive. I couldnt help whining because it depressed me, and also inspired me to come up with a new plan that will help my career and help others too hopefully

  • This was one of my piano teacher's favorite songs, and she just cancer :( You played it just how she would have loved to hear.

  • i like it almost same to the original

  • Nice playing man. Way better than my clarinet, piano or guitar playing has ever been. lol

  • 11 people had such a powerful Eargasm that they missed the like button.

  • Damn he's good.

  • ;-)--->

  • I don't play any instruments, but I must say that you are very talented!

  • Awesome but you must work on your high notes they have alot of squeaking but in the end awesome!

  • @joker125479 i agree

  • You are actually very good but you have to work on the sound of your high notes, they sound a bit squeaky, they should sound more clean other than that i have no remarks.

  • Extremely good!!!!! You´re an amazing artist... all is perfect....

  • Your violin skills are amazing, grreat finger work, a fantasic play on a very beautiful song, and I too hope you become famous. Thank you for the email invite to check this out.

  • I like this. Thank you for asking me to check it out. It sounded beautiful to me.

  • Thats not bad, you must practice a lot.

  • I do not know anything about violins, but that is some good playing.

  • Awesome

  • You're such a good violinist!

I don't particularly like classical music, but I know you're very talented

    I hope you become famous!

  • I dont know anything about violins but i like it :D

  • awesome!!

  • waay better than me

  • This is for Ur career, and all of the 11 dislikes are from Rebeca Black, so don't worry.

  • very good.

  • Don't worry about those snooty 11 dislikes. They are jealous.

  • I think that your ear is spot on. I am not good at awarding accolades. As long as there is room for artists and musicians in this world you will be able to provide for you and your family. Ok it was wonderful. I hope that you keep practicing and playing this piece so that I can hear what your interpretation of it is in 10 and 20 years from now. Good job.

  • good sound on the lower notes but your high notes sound a bit wrong, i dont know what it is but you might want to work on them :)

  • While the bowing reflects the slur patterns well, the intonation could use a bit of work.

  • i dont play the violin, so i don't know of u made any mistakes. but is was good according to me

  • Yikes.

  • I don't think I'll ever be able to play this well. Paganini is damn challenging! Be proud.

  • its cool dude just keep practicing and damn it get a real violin!

  • .I am shure we 'll hear about you!!!You are grate performer dear Fhilip

  • I'd dropkick those people that disliked this if i knew them, this is an awesome piece

  • @LuffyDshanks The problem is not within the piece. The problem is that he sent everyone messages claiming that his version was the only right version on youtube (even though there are brilliant performances by professionals like Shlomo Mintz, Alexander Markov and Itzhak Perlman), and then in this video, he doesn't even play in tune - it's very far off!

If you listen to one of the performers I mentioned, you'll hear it. I encourage you to, if this is your first encounter with the piece.

  • @PorcupineFloyd68 I was obviously misunderstood. All I meant to say was that I myself have never seen anyone play this piece or any piece even written with three richochet down bows and one up. The Lone Ranger is two down and one up, but it is two down on the same string. I love Mr. Paganini and I am in total awe that he could figure out that this seemingly impossible physical bowing could actually sound good if played evenly. I never would have thought to write that. Love to learn his secrets

  • @numanumaviolin But, do you think it's worth sacrificing intonation and rhythm just to bow it a different way?

  • @PorcupineFloyd68 Intonation has nothing to do with bowing. If you heard something off it is only because the instrument that I practice on is a violin which is electric turned off so I can hear the pitch perfectly for the height of the strings above the fingerboard. Acoustic instruments have a different feel, and mine weighs different in different places. All this must be taken into consideration. I do feel it is worth making intonation sacrifices if all i have is 10 with a real instrument.

  • @PorcupineFloyd68 Very Good question. Yes also to rhythm. It takes more time to cross four strings whether you do the original bowing or not. Original bowing is only one more thing to think about. I found that the feel is completely different to the mind. What you are actually hearing most likely is me not knowing as soon as Paganini the next note. That was a pause. Now the pause probably wouldnt have happened if I was playing separate bows but if it did it would have fallen apart. No more space

  • @PorcupineFloyd68 So sorry made two responses. Lack of space. Perlman and Shlomo chose to play up down throughout. Alexander Markov did a great rendition playing four down and then four up richochet. Also probably very hard to do, I am sure. Havent tried it that way.

  • @LuffyDshanks Thank you for the kind words. I was hoping to borrow an instrument because I am visiting my family and I dont want them to know that I am a musician without a decent sounding instrument. Before I received those negative feedbacks I was practicing on a silent instrument just to keep my chops up until I was able to borrow one. The first day I came to Arizona were my family is getting together I went outside and it was so windy the bow was flying off the strings! Not ready to practice

  • very impressive playing

  • That was the most amazing thing I have ever heard. I dont know why 9 people disliked it.

  • I dont own a violin and have one chance a year to play on a real violin

  • This comment is in reference to your email, so Uncle Junior will be try not to be harsh. Your style of playing reminds me of another YouTube violin player, Michael Hegeman, who reminds me of how Col Klink (Warner Klemperer) played Wagner on Hogan Heroes. Along with Michael Hegeman's, I have added this video to my collection.

Why do you think you needed to borrow a special bow to play this caprice? The problem is definitely not with the bow!

  • @unclejuniorsoprano Because when you play three down bows to one up bow sometimes in this piece the the first of the three down bows is on the bottom string and the next two are on the top strings. Jumping two strings on a fast down bow can only be achieved if the bow is completely balanced!

  • Very good, congrats!!
