This just like when 101 dalamtions came out. Everyone wanted a dalmation and when it didn't act like the ones in the movie they dumped them in a shelter.
Too bad people didn't do this outside the premiere of that movie.
Actually, there was a message at the end encouraging careful and responsible adoption of dogs. Also, the movie clearly shows the wrongfullness of dog fighting and encourages adoption of homeless dogs.
Not only that, but the actors from the movie also encourage adoption from shelters. The dog who played Papi? He was from a shelter and rescued a day before he was scheduled to be put down.
The execs at Disney were asked to post a message at the end to adopt instead of shope and they wouldn't do it. I don't get it. They had an opportunity to help and didn't. Too bad, they would have garnered so much support from the ever-growing and widespread animal lovers in this country. Poor business decision. I wish people in positions to make a difference would instead of worrying about how fast their car goes or what kind of hand-bag they have. Maybe one day...
My dog Tiger was either from a puppy mill or a breeding facility that didn't want imperfect pups from what we were told. So him and his litter were dumped on the side of the road left to die in one of the harshes cold snaps in the end of 2003. Sadly his litter mates died before I got to the shelter he was alone in his pen and because of his size they suspected him not to get adopted out as soon as the smaller pups. However, he became mine and now his life is filled with family and fun 24/7.
Its sad some people that get animals because of a movie think that that creature will be exactally the same. Because they are not, they are like the millions of children around the world with different personalities and different backgrounds as well as their own problems.By adopting your not only helping the breed but your saving a live.
