  • I tried this the other day, Beth, and it was so yummy! To spice things up I used some diced tomatoes with italian seasoning, sprinkled some Memphis BBQ rub over the taters and then sprinkled some grated Parmesan cheese over everything. It's going to be a definite keeper at our house. The husband loved it. :-) Hugs

  • @Neferkit Those additions sound AWESOME!

  • I think I would add a can of rotel instead of plain tomatoes :)

  • @lizaola4 OH SNAP!! That is the answer..

  • Adding few tablespoons Chili Powder and a tablespoon of Brown sugar would have given it a good taste in my opinion.

  • I'd add a can of tomato sauce and some onion powder and whatever kind of garlic you have.

  • @blairseybell Yep, that would definitely bump the flavor up, for sure!

  • Oh my! YUM!

  • @chavitavb Yep!

  • Looks fab. Sorry it was not as good as it looks. Surprised the recipe didn't call for cheese cuz it looks like a cheese sort of dish.

  • @drbennettdc Pam just suggested Pace Picante and that is exactly what my taste buds needed to zip this up. Oh yah!

  • maybe add little garlic instead of the tomatoes maybe a jar of Pace Picante or even a taco packet...? Looked good anyways...: O )

  • @Carballoca Now THAT is exactly it. Pace Picante. That would have totally made this one for sure. So I'm taking out the diced tomatoes and replacing it. THanks! Woot woot!

  • i'm only speaking for myself here i would have let it cook longer or perhaps put it in early, more tomatoes, some herbs, garlic how does that sound going to make this thks for sharing

  • @ilovstodance Oh yes, it definitely needs to cook much longer, for sure. Someone suggested Pace Picante and t hat is what I am using next time around vs. the diced tomatoes

  • Looks tasty, Beth. How about adding a small can of tomato sauce and perhaps some chili and garlic powder for a little punch. Hmmm...you've inspired me to pull out the old slow cooker today(I just cleaned my stove top and have the relatives coming over on New Years Eve and don't want to mess it up...LOL). I may just give this a try. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Hauoli Makahiki Hou!

  • @MouseChirpy Pam recommended a jar of Pace Picante and I think that that is exactly what this dish needs (instead of the diced tomatoes).

  • For some reason this recipe makes me think of stuffed peppers. Looks good, nice combination of ingredients .

  • @LitlRuthy Exactly!! That is pretty much what goes in to a stuffed pepper, well not the taters, but I thought the same thing :)

  • maybe more seasonings or even maybe some tomato sauce thanks for sharing

  • @Blueyeshining Pam recommended a jar of Pace Picante and I think that that is exactly what this dish needs (instead of the diced tomatoes)

  • Hmm, it looks like it was good, but I bet maybe like a can of cream of mushroom or nacho cheese soup would make it yum-yum-yummmmy?

  • @Autumngirl24 Pam recommended a jar of Pace Picante and I think that that is exactly what this dish needs (instead of the diced tomatoes)

  • I thought it was going to be a scalloped potato dish at first! Where did the name Prompt some from? I think some herbs would help and maybe a tangier sauce.

  • @wildheart5 Sometimes I wish people would put down how the recipe was named. My guess is because of the 2 hour time in a crockpot (which is not sufficient) lol

  • @aohmann Exactly!!

  • @OneHappyBird123 truly, i think it would rock,...though you would have to add some liquid in it first

  • Looks very good... maybe to pop it up ... add a little seasoning... whatever you like.. I was thinking some cajun spices. Looks good and I've fixed that wash day casserole 2 or 3 times. We like it. Hugs girl!

  • @imperceptibleme ooh yeah cajun spices...next time

  • Maybe some ketchup.

  • @susankim51 EVERYTHING is better with ketchup...and I mean that most seriuosly.

  • I would have to throw in some garlic and parsley or basil or something, I cant just follow a recipe:-) I does look good tho!

  • @1DRock37167 yep yep yep...all the above. I always try to follow it first time around

  • add garlic powder and maybe some tony's seasoning i bet that would add to the flavor a bit. or use a mixture of burger and sausage instead to add more zest! ill have to try it soon. looks good from your pics!

  • @nay1134 mm the garlic powder would have done the trick, I think! Thanks for watching!

  • Hmm, maybe some Lea & Perrins? I love the flavor of Worchestershire sauce w/tomatoes.

  • @IWalk4tnt yep, that would have totally zipped it up!

  • thanks for the recipe easy dinner!

  • @5supermomma Thanks for watching!

  • Looks very delicious!! Thx for this recipe.

  • @ilikethewok Thanks for watching!

  • Great recipe, I love it!

  • @oniichanrikku Thanks for watching!

  • Garlic? red pepper? Celery? Dunno but I'm with you - it even sounds bland. Like it's almost a recipe; a line or 3 was left off.

  • @thizizliz red pepper or paprika probably would have done the trick

  • I am never good with math too so it's ok! Looks good!!

  • @COOLIKEDATAZIAN it was good...just not enough zing for me

  • If you threw in some chopped up cabbage, you'd have a "lazy man's slow cooker cabbage rolls"

The recipe title made me laugh, I don't know why..... you'd think that a slow cooker recipe would be "tardy" ;)

  • @yoyomax12 HAHAHAHAHA You'd be right about that title.

I want to try doing cabbage rolls and they do have a lazy version where you layer the bottom with the cabbage. hmm may have to try it soon

  • I think that this would be something that I could make but not with those tomatoes. Perhaps I will replace it with tomato sauce. Solomon wont eat any diced or tomatoes of any sort. He also wont eat peppers or onions. I replace with things like Mrs. Dash or onion powder. I think I will try it at some point in time and maybe get to show you some of my changes. Thanks for sharing these recipes with us Beth. HUGS Im always looking for something different to make. xoxo

  • @WackaDoodleFreeZone i couldn't cook for solomon. lol

  • I have tried similar ones before...it seems the ones i tried had to cook for a longer time. thanks for the vid...

  • @trvlbuggy yes, this definitely needs to cook much longer

  • Maybe a jar of Marinara Sauce instead of the tomatoes would add more flavor.

  • @ClassyRandomness that would probably do the trick! Thanks for watching :)

  • a little grated sharp chedder and I would be ready to go! mmmm.....

  • @MISSBEBEBLUE HAHAAHA I think that's been your answer for zipping things up in the last few recipes ;)

  • perhaps chili beans ?

  • @beerzzz now that would work!! chili seasoning and beans. yep

  • looks delicious :-)

  • @fumsmusings it was good--i just need to figure out how to bump it up!

  • Maybe some additional spices eh? I have never put ground meat in raw in the crock pot. Silly eh? I put a entire raw chicken in without a thought. Part of it is the grease off the ground meat but heck I always sub ground turkey for hambuger which is lean. I am wanting to start a second channel with cooking type vids but can't even figure out how to add another channel lol.

  • @cozzyk this was the first time i put in raw hamburger!

  • Girl this is MAN food! I love this kind of stuff. This one kinda reminds me of those porcupine (sp?) balls. Same ingredients just layered instead of rolled up. I might add some jalapeno for zip or use the Tomatoes and Green Chilies. I like a little heat. I am going to do this one soon. Thanks!

  • @yescandles yep...I have had to totally learn cooking man food hahaha Let me know how you zip it up when you make it

  • I think I would of added orange juice and maybe a1

  • @sunsetlover hmm you are the second to say add citrus. i may have to give that a go

  • I do one similar but I leave out the rice and add chili powder and a can of tomato juice. Sometimes I will put cheddar cheese on top...darn it, now I am hungry..lol

  • @pjspassions oooh yeah that sounds good!

  • Looks good, but I would have to "snap up" the flavor some. Maybe add some garlic, basil, some red chili flake....lot of options I could think of. Now I'm hungry :)

  • @Bikermom69 Garlic, ftw!!

  • Italian seasoning? Maybe it's one of those casseroles that taste better the next day. I made some Bolognese sauce today and I used some canned diced tomatoes too, I was hoping that I had the petite diced ones that you added in this recipe but I didn't (turned out a bit chunky because of the large pieces of tomato). Leftovers tomorrow - yay!

  • @ArgentineShamrock that would probably bump it up a little, that's for sure!

This dish I made for lunches, so had it all week... It didn't get better with time

  • thats kinda like Albondigas I would add lemon to it ...mushrooms sound good and everything diced ..

  • @xxxdoc hm lemon. Sounds interesting!

  • Maybe some garlic? Oh and cheese I think everything needs cheese LOL.

But fir a dinner you didn't have to stand over the stove forit has to be good right?

  • @Ultimatecruegirl fir should have been for. Sloppy typing FTW!

    Oh and first lol.

  • @Ultimatecruegirl stacey totally beat you!

  • @Ultimatecruegirl cheese makes everything better? ;)

  • I would so put in mushrooms also....I am a shroom whore:)

  • @dreamer72fem you can have my share then ;) not a shroom fan
