  • The people were true pioneers to the computer industry. It's a weird feeling knowing how primitive all this was 30 years ago and how limited these guys were

  • Why didn't Amiga rule the computer world if it was better and cheaper than IBM and DOS?

  • @iviarko Well amiga quickly became a game computer, where IBM from the start was a business computer, latere in the late 80s PC slowly also became a game pc. I think back then alot of people only had money to one computere, an they would buy one wich all in the home could use.

  • @iviarko

Combination of factors. #1 terrible marketing by Commodore, #2 market inertia - always hard to displace a machine that lots of people, esp. businesses, have and have lots of software for. #3, the Amiga was a new kind of machine and a lot of people didn't understand what it was for. Everybody expected computers to be either for games or for business, and Amiga seemed to occupy a third space, something we're all used to now but which didn't really exist at the time.

  • I've always been amazed over how childish and unserious the Amiga crew gives the impression of but in reality they where genius and did some really amazing stuff back then.

  • @fredrik999z I would not call it childish and unserious ... I would call it "having fun by what you are doing". oh wait ... yes are right because this is how children behave and what I am fully missing at work

  • @vdgjolly Ok, I think "childlike enthusiasm" is a better word to describe the Amiga crew. They where not just doing a job, they where chasing a dream. When you are young you are dreaming and playing around mostly of the time.

  • @fredrik999z agreed :)

  • It is an amazing story. Pandora handheld console is another amazing story.

This wasn't just putting together motherboards and slotting chips like modern PC building. This was designing the actual chips.

  • it's amazing that anything got done .. can u imagine this being done now.. it's all done in software now...this was done all by hand wiring the boards like that..this is old musta been back in the 80's..great memories for these guys I bet
