Sorry for you dignan... but as a 10-year veteran, I can easily say you're incorrect. Raves are different everywhere so don't bother judging. The whole POINT is NOT judging! Yes, I was @ Future Fest. So was ATB and Dieselboy (2 of the big names)
Just because it was large and advertised doesn't make it "not a rave."
Keeping the scene legal can involve walking a tight line.
dignan, i don't think you know much about edm. electronic music festivals are considered raves. underground parties often referred to as raves boasted electronic music--- genres including trance, gabber, house back in the days. I really dont think you spin cuz you dont seem to acknowledge pioneering producers. electronic music nowadays is incorporating the sounds of different edm subgenres. you as a close minded dj wouldnt fare so well in the edm scene.

what with the busting into a rant about genres? i didn't mention any genres shit. I can understand what these promoters are doing, going for the backpacking neon glowing 16 year old that didn't experience the real scene.
9pm til i come brought so many people into edm. it was a club hit in the 90s. along with cafe del mar. there is a reason why these djs/producers are still ranked higher than others because they adapt to the changing scene

No way that that Walmart party back in 01 had 11000 people. No fricking way. And yes, I was there. The entire time. ATB took his shirt off, and when he was playing 9 AM (Till I Come) he was playing air piano. Trust me, I was there. :) And besides, MI is putting on these bad ass shows now! :D

I was raving at the peak, started in '90 and starting spinning records a year later and still do.
ATB and rave do NOT go together, lol... fucking 9pm till I come... how about "9am till I leave".

it was crunk, but its not the biggest show in ATX history. EDC1 had sheriffs office estimate around 14,000 though i heard as high as 19,000.
the walmart party with ATB also had as high as 11,000 estimated by the sherrifs.
im glad big budget shows are back though :-D
