Wow I grew up in rochdale.. We moved there when my brother and I where little kids in 1989. I went to ps 30 then to jhs190 & my bro went to 72 in 1999-00. Then it got bad and we moved to Vegas in 00. Man i heard alot has changed, rent went up, etc. I miss it there but wouldn't want to live back there
Wow, I grew up in Rochdale. Building 2. I went to Martin. For all the people in LA who ask me "Are you from New York?" HA HA Here's where Im from. Thanks for putting this up.
I used to live on rockaway blvd,145street. I used to go to the movies there, the Rochdale movie theatre. That was some time ago,i still have family that live there. This is a great documentary, and done on an i pod! A young Spike Lee in the making i see. Keep up the great work.
Hideki, thanks for this! I moved to Rochdale in 1964 when I was 12 years old, and lived there for 8 years. The memories were some bad memories, but overall, and experience I still cherish - along with a group of guys spread all ove the place, who get together once a year for a reunion. Rochdale LIVES !!!!
Thank you for the trip down memory lane!! I lived there from 1965 (birth) until 1993 when my parents moved south. It started going down hill in the 80's unfortunately.
-Cont'd from previous-foil and throw it out the window when the ice cream truck came(-: My brother married a girl he knew in junior high in Rochdale! I hope that it gets better for the families working hard to stay out of the projects. Peace.
This video is brilliant. I hope you have a long career making films! Just like Pre K, I lived in Rochdale for 9 years. My family, my parents my 4 older brothers and I moved there when I was just 6 months old, in 1964. My best memories are my dad and NY brother and my mom burning sparklers in the basket ball courts, and being able to walk around the circle to my friends building without crossing a street. They had pretty flowers in the circles all summer...my mom used to wrap quarters in tin foi
Loved this video...Pre K you are great!! I lived there from 1963 - 1973,,,impact on my life...had great times and some bad times as well...however...I miss "those days". I keep in touch with many people that lived there...that I grew up with. We will always be like family. Thanks for making this video. I do hope that management gets their act together.
This is a wonderful video. I lived in Rochdale from 1964 to 1987, but I'm still from there and always will be. Hideki brought back a lot of memories for me, especially with that shot up the ground floor lobby.
Great video! honest, to the point. Not boring. U def have talent.
Not to be a negatron, but I noticed u mentioned around 6:23 that u don't understand about the parking tickets... Well people would park their cars in the lot and leave them there all day for the wrong reasons. They're supposed to pay for a spot in the designated lots. If people want to park and not get tickets, they can drive out and drive right back in. I actually wrote the article about it in the July Bulletin, did u read it?
I have my own Rochdale video. Since YouTube won't allow me to post the link here, just type in "Rochdale Village Athletic League" at the top and you will see it. It is from one of the early years of the development, in 1966 or so. It is very short, and I am happy I have preserved this little piece of film on YouTube.
Excellent !!!! I grew up in Lauelton Went to Springfield Gdns HS (Graduated 1970) I spent a lot of time @ Rochdale visiting with my friends... Thanks for posting!!!!!
This is an excellent video on the old neighborhood that I grew up in. I was an original resident (1964-1971), and it's funny, things haven't changed much. (I posted this again because it appears that this video moved from its original position.)
