Hey Torley, I would LOVE to see more illustrations and videos like this. I find this super amusing (as are all of your other videos). Please do more of these!
Why are people saying he's on drugs.. lol. Torley is speaking really insightful stuff. His thought process is pretty linear, with some amusing deviations, and his phrasing of some really complicated ideas and emotions is really easy to understand.
So, does this apply to 'parents' as well? When you drew them out, they seemed to be immune to your concept. I'm perhaps in the beginning stages of the concept, but I like to look at every angle possible. I notice that I can be a parent one day, and some people are parents before others. So, like wearing a new hat according to a new passion, as opposed staying with your past-shadow-self, is this concept of progression/growth still active when you're a parent/grandparent?
Please accept my friend request, It won't let me message you... I would like to learn what a synth is and how to manipulate them, I was suggested to read a book that at the end of it will have equipped me with neccisary tools to do so... SAnd this video is so true
Ha, well said Torley! Being twenty and seeing so many people falling back on their high school lives I know exactly what you mean...but I still gotta say it seem like you had a few too many glasses of wine or perhaps a funky brownie! haha, Maybe not though, you've always been wacky...Keep on thinkin'!
Thanks Torley...I agree with everything you've said. It's hard to change or alter other people's perceptions of you, especially after major changes either slowly over time or, and most particularly when they happen very quickly. I think understanding your views of perceptions as suggested in this video, will help people to at least understand why and how they are viewed differently, and this can help lessen any unhappiness or sadness they may feel from it.
Sure u create this video because u were mad at something, most probably people that belittle you because u are in music. Anyway, i think you are good musician, so this kind of people who hates u are actually small times loser.
You're right. I used to think intelligence was be-all. As I grew older I realized that even the most talented heads often settled fairly early in life. (in apathy or fear of the pacmanshark they dry their skin to brittle bone and dust in the hot sun)
Not even the gifted can become great without leaving themselves constantly behind; the ideology of continual striving, change, novelty, exploration, and so on..
"We've come a long way, haven't we? Thanks for joining me on this journey. The next time you get criticized - it's bound to happen if you're doing anything meaningful - if you feel angry and hurt, that's perfectly human.
Just remember what I've taught you - don't wallow in sadness and get the most out of the stings you take, because you have a lot of greatness ahead!" -Torley :)
Good advice Torley. An alternative to the chart going up, for some of us, coming down and getting grounded is just as good advice. For some, the 80s was a bit too out of control. :) Regardless, moving forward and not stressing on what others expect from you is what it's all about. We are all equal and should be free to live our lives as we want.
I hope you weren't one of the one cut from the recent cuts from LL it could be really shitty if you were since you were and are still one of my creative inspirations
It's true that folks will remember you from the last time they got to really talk to you. A lot of change can happen in between, there can be a huge disconnect. But you're right, you gotta do your own thing sometimes. It helps when the "good old days" were not good at all. C'est la vie.
Very nice vid, Torley! I've found that it can be equally difficult understanding old friends after you've been away and changed, even if they are the same.
this made my day thank you torley
