if there is an ocean underneath mars there must be a lot of water, chalk, or a kind of oil at the vulcanos. the chalk or oil holds up the crust cooled down at the birth of mars.

Phobos & Deimos could be creating the canyons theory: The 2 satellite's where once a giant object that hit Mars a glancing blow, caused the canyon rupture, then broke into 2 separate satellite's. This could explain Phobos' strange structure.
Is the audience consisted of graduate students or what?
