  • That really awkward moment when I think I'm related to him..

  • Outstanding.....great song....eve a greater voice...!!!!

  • I miss him so much. When I worked for the govenment, I was the CFC rep and did a display in memory of his passing and to contriubte to his illness to help others.

He was always my favorite, favorite. I have so many of albums.

  • Some great comments here. Let me add that we all have to thank Maurice Ravel for composing 'Daybreak' from "Daphnis & Chloe." That's the source melody of this song. :)

Back in my DJ days we used to call Bob Goulet "Larry Lungs." :)

  • one of the great renditions of a tune in the book-

  • streisand only. streisand forever.

  • Elvis' trouble was that he had no one to tell him what to do,

be hiw own doctors, or whomever. He was way too

spoiled. The guy literally had it made but still not happy.

  • @kcbill54..sorry, my keys keep locking up..it is Matt Monro, the great British singer..listen to his version of "Walk Away" here on You Tube, then you decide..

  • @kcbill..Matt Monro.

  • @kcbill54....Matt Monroe.

  • Goulet was in the wrong place and time. His nearly-operatic voice would have suited Broadway in the 1940s and 50s very well. But he came along a little later, when such "legit" voices (like those, for example, of Alfred Drake, Howard Keel, John Raitt and Harve Presnell) were less in demand, because the Bway musical composers were writing for lighter voices.

And the big-voiced Goulet wasn't at his best in pop love songs --- he was OUTSTANDING in the context of a character --

  • this is amazing :)(:

  • Who had a better voice than this guy?

  • have never heard this song swung before...

  • yo this dude is my cousin

  • Elvis threw a shoe(?) at his TV when Robert was singing on a TV program???

    Naughty boy, that "jealous Elvis!"

  • @sgtlzy bad boy

  • @sgtlzy Elvis shot his gun at the TV!!! A little more "explosive" extension of his jealous anger?! Ha! :-)

  • He must not have recorded this in LA.

  • good job robert...

  • magnificent voice

  • 1 person has no taste haha

  • AN UNBELIEVABLE VOICE AND DICTION. HE KNEW HOW TO PUT ON A SONG

  • One of my favorite songs....this is a wonderful song.....

  • Mr Goulet was one of the male singers of his era that could really belt out a ballad. I also enjoyed Dean Martin, he could sing more comercial type songs but yet it was a joy to hear him sing too. And lets not forget Perry Como and Al Martino.

  • Love this version----even better than Barbra Striesand.

  • @mauretania111

Oh yeah, I love Babs, but Goulet owns this song. It's made for his voice.

  • The heart speaks we remember.

  • Theme song of the 1970 film with the same title. Robert Goulet has such a great powerful voice.

  • When "Camelot" was first on B'way, I remember a reporter asking Mr. Burton how it felt to be at the top of his game -- one of the worlds most beautiful speaking voices, most acclaimed actor, and peerless in his profession. Mr. Burton responded by saying that to REALLY make him perfect and allow him to feel that he was truly peerless, he would have to be able to open his mouth and sing with Robert Goulet's voice!

  • will ferrel is robert goulet.

  • Reminds me of my youth in the 1960's listening to the AM radio with "Rambling With Gambling" on WOR radio every morning.

  • @mvp019 Funny, I see myself sitting in backseat of ca with my parents and sister, driving in Las Vegas. The movie, and probably the stage play, were out at that time.

  • Sure, he's Notorious BIG, but can he croon?

  • Yet another example of how there used to be real music sung by people with real talent. It's hard not to feel good listening to this wonderful song. I hum it to myself and it never fails to life my spirits.

  • such a profound song.. people knew how to write then.. great performance...

  • I saw Robert sing the lead in a touring production on South Pacfic. What a voice. and those piercing blue eyes! I liked his short lived series " Blue light" from the 60's

  • If you never had the chance to seeRobert Goulet in the Theatre, you really missed something grand. The finest baritone voice to ever come off a Broadway stage. A wonderful nightclub performer and great friend. He sings this song supurb!!!

    Bob Anderson

  • His voice was pure beyond belief. Listening to him is like listening to Richard Burton read Shakespeare.

  • When I was a kid I heard someone singing this song as they were walking down the street. I remember I in the kitchen and the window was open. I could hear the singing from the street outside.

  • The OB doctor was whistling this song as my wife was delivering our first son. I knew everything would be well.

RIP Mr. Goulet gone but NOT forgotten

  • How lovely to find this! My father would sing this every Sunday morning as he headed off to the pub; starting at the top of the stairs and finishing the song on the last step! Thank you for posting it here. :-)

  • this seems more like a song you would sing on the way home from the pub...heheh

  • We saw him sing the lead in Man of La Mancha. He wasn't much on the acting part of the role, but who cared? It was ROBERT GOULET singing The Impossible Dream! This is one of my favorite songs by him.

  • What a voice----what a song!!!!

  • this song is owned by Robert

    RIP

  • If anybody searches "sammy davis jr. amsterdam" here on Youtube can see a devishly good version of this song performed by one of the greatest entertainers in recent memory towards the latter part of the vid.

  • what a nice song..it feels like walking under the sunset....:D

  • Thank you so much for posting this recording!!! I like this version so much!

  • What a great voice & handsome as hell ..... even if he was a wife beater.

  • Mellower than the Streisand rendition;

a song that inspires, that is larger than life.

Beautifully simple - and simply beautiful!

  • Barbra owns the copyright..full of passion and majesty that this song that inspires and is larger then life deserves.

  • I love that song.

  • A Brilliant Song and a Great singer love Shirlsxx

  • Wonderful!!!

  • I had no idea he was sooooo beautiful at one point. My first experience of him was on the Simpson's. LOL. When he comes to Bart's treehouse.
