hmm in my opinion, your "color correction" doesnt make it any better than the original footage. More important than making it look like a film is making it look GOOD.
Skin tones look good on the left and WAY too blue on the right. Do some secondary color correction on the people and still keep the primary blue if you must.
if anything, for the subject you are portraying in this, i'd have stuck with the non colour corrected footage. You have turned what looks like a good colour balance, slightly lacking contrast as standard, into a bleached out unrealistic outcome. why would you turn a warm country fayre type event into a battle scene from Braveheart?
Colour correction looks, well... shit. For an effective and good colour correction, ALL you need to use is curves and a bit of colour grading. Nothing else.
Nothing looks like film but films. Digital videos with colour corrections are some what close but lack the crispiness, the contrast and grains that films have. I used to have a 5D Mark II and it was nice but gave it up, going back to film cameras.
This is more like color reduction or desaturation than correction. The raw is actually pretty darn good to begin with. 'Less is more' when correcting imo.
I swear, what is it with today and people loving de-saturation, it's so hideous to look at, that and every film these days being in shades of either teal or orange. It's color people!!!! If you want monochromatic, go to black and white!!!! and btw, of course the raw footage looks much much better.
@GrodiPutin I agree, color "correction" is a load of shit, I have yet to see a single color correction video that isn't oversaturated, or fucking pink. The original almost ALWAYS looks better. Usually just messing with the contrast/light levels works fine. But... what the fuck do I know?
the colour corrected version looks shite. looks like a cunt decided to change the original colours into some pathetic zombie style. its this style of talentless film making that is beyond pathetic. people who do this are pathetic and have no intelligence.
bad correction. on planet earth, reality looks like... left side. right side sugests nightmares, apocaliptic visions, troubled minds, drug induced reality, morning after heawy drink, etc.
@reticulan5 I think the reason they color corrected the way they did was to give it an older look, cause if you check out that one guy's shirt it looks renaissance-ish, like a medieval kind of thing lol
All, I have 100s of home videos shoot with HV40 and 7d. 7d mov files looks great when I play in computer but when I use pinnacle stdio burn DVD...I loose so much quality ....even with full quality....
Same time, if I download Hv40 footage through firewire into mpg files and convert DVD look better....some thing missing ...please help....
Color correction is not always about natural skin tones, sometimes a cast is needed/necessary for dramatic reasons. However, in an average test with people I'd apply some skin tone rescue.
@FenchelJanisch your color correction seem a little gery instead of black do people like the dry grey look. i may need to go that way can someone message me telling me or respond to my reply here i need to know.
@MrJakeBush Although color "correction" is subjective, I do also have the same opinion as Mr. jakeBush. Maybe the user's purpose of this video is to demonstrate their color correction technique more than considering the esthetic side.
I agree with MrJakeBush. If you were trying to be cinematic, what happened to the green tones usually seen in movies? The Canon 7D tends to shoot with a bit more contrast than the Nikon D7000 and I can understand desaturating or flattening contrast slightly, but this "color correction" was awful.
hahaha de raw footage is better^^ im amateur and i know: keep skin colors. you didn't. your a biger noob.
