  • such a smooth piece of funk. just love the flute in funk tracks. beautiful. this LP and The Popcorn are his best works imho. 1969 was a very good year for Mr Brown. QUALITY (yes, with a capital for each letter!) xx

  • Apparently this is a heavily edited recording. The original runs for about 12 or 13 min if I'm not mistaken, according to the liner notes in the recent CD compilation of his singles.

  • When hear this groove it takes me to SOUL.... Collard Greens, conebread...not cornbread but conebread, red beans and rice.... smothered steak....Soul baby!!

  • C BON RIEN A DIRE .RESPECT

    DIEU EST SON AME

  • Another great song by the Godfather of Soul. Don't remember hearing this one. Probably was the "B" side of Mother Popcorn in the jukebox. If I never heard it, it's new to me. Fantastic post.

  • 2 people dont have the feeling of popcorn

  • lots of fukin likes!

  • love this

  • Heavy D sampled this for the interludes on his album "Blue Funk".

  • have this song as the album above shows it's on King Records, real hard to get,

  • In the words of the great Albert King "If you don't dig the Blues you got a hole in your soul" . The same thing goes for Soul / Low Down Funk, R.I.P Soul Brother Number 1.

  • Breezy Bruin, if u hit utube JAMES BR0WN DAY 2009, a uk djs radi0 tribute c0mes 0n! hes bad!!! dec 25th is 0N AS jb DAY

  • Another bad tune by James. I first heard this tune in a work by John Popper, the harmonic player. To my surprise, Popper's is a sample from this song, see John Popper Project-Lapdance here on Youtube.

  • Another great tune. I first heard this melody in a work by John Popper the harmonic player, see John Popper Project on Youtube.

  • i like popcorn :)

  • SICKNESS!!!

  • anyone know who plays the instruments on this?

  • @babygrandmother

it sounds like Herbie Mann on the flute

  • I believe Brand Nubians sampled this in "Who Can Get Funky Like This Man" on their first album; correct me if I'm wrong.

  • From the period that James Brown experimented with jazz and acid-rock styled recordings (roughly 1968 through his 1971 switch to Polydor).

  • If you like rap DMG sampled this and the beat is dope , go to my favorites, look for DMG

  • dj premier sampled this for the intro for "here comes the hevster"

  • OH MY GOD

You could put on any James brown cut to your party started and it was hard to take him off the box, because he had so many new 45s out at the same time, and the part 2 too!!.this cut you slip on just before you put on the slow drags for the late crowd. yall kids don't know about the slow drag( grind tunes)
