I Got Scared At The Commerical Promo When I Was Little But I couldn't Wait To Watch It Anyway On Wxon Channel 20 Detroit , I Wish They Could Bring It Back On the Air Because I Miss Watch It On Sat Afternoon
Ok I loved youtube before, like I really really loved youtube. But just takes the cake. im fully convinced that youtube has EVERYTHING lol. Ive been searching for the name of this show for a very long time and I greatly appreciate you uploading this for all the local detroiters who grew up in the 80's curled around the tv set every weekend. THANK YOU!
I'll be 35 in November. I'm from San Antonio, Texas and we had something like this called the "Saturday Night Shocker!" But, it aired on Saturday midnight. Pretty creepy for a 10 year old! BTW, the commercials during air time would be of a local comic book store. lol. memories.
I always wondered which movie it was, with the large "chicken's" coming through the door? I don't believe I ever saw it, even on Thriller Double Feature. Anyone have a clue??
@kyokogodai...I think you are describing a scene from "Food of the Gods" ('76). If memory serves, "Thriller Double Feature" on WXON 20 never aired this film. However, "Scream Theater" on WXYZ 7 did.
@lionsfn11 Ive been looking for that too! Please let me know if you ever locate a clip Id love to get it for nostalgia. This, the Creature Feature, and that led zep looped clip sure bring back the Detroit memories for Sat afternoon monster t.v.
@sevilami I remeber they showed 2 movies, usually something with Vincent Price and a old giant monster movie. My parents made me rake leaves in the fall and I hurried thru it to catch the end of "The House of Wax" or the "The Tell Tale Heart" and sit there and revel in "Gomora vs. Mothra", I miss those days.
Do you any footage of Channel 7's "Scream Theater"? They used to have it on late night Friday's. That scream at the end of the opening used to scare the daylights out of me!!! Thanks for posting this classic!

@kyokogodai My favorite parts of that into were "Godzilla Meets Alice Cooper/Godzilla Meets Bette Midler/Godzilla Prefers Bette Midler" and the word legubrious. The Saturday Afternoon Movie, following American Bandstand, was where I first saw Horror of Dracula.
Love it !!! I can remember this video like it was yesterday. Thank you for posting. Do you remember the Saturday afternoon shocker double feature? The intro consisted of zombie clips from the movie Children shouldn't play with dead things. Followed with the creepy background guitar sounds of Led Zeppelin's Whole lot of love. Wish I could find it.
@777god70. o my goodness thats the one i wanna see. the afternoon shocker. with the Led Zeppelin loop. ah ah ah ah. snare drums and bass kicks and hi hats going off.
WOW, this brings back alot of memories. Good old WXON 20 from Whatever happened to this station ? I remember seeing my first horror movie broadcast on here over at my aunt's home. It was called "The Horror Express". It had Telly Savalas and Peter Cushing in it. The most I can remember about the movie is that some guy with dark hair had glowing red eyes and when someone would look at him, their eyes would start bleeding.
Nice...always wondered what those clips were in the intro (aside from the Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things clips)...it appears to be from a couple of Kolchak episodes (Demon in Lace and Legacy of Terror) which were combined into a movie- "The Demon and The Mummy."
Does anyone remember the ad (not sure what channel in det.) that showed the back of someone's head slowly turning to face you while a voice said, "roses are red..."? Then, when the face turns around it is a skull?
Remember "Creature Feature" also? That might have have been channel 50 though. Either way, thanks to whoever you are for posting this. Let's try and find Charlie Rum's Kung Fu Theater next!!
Wow!!! This is the best, I wanna see that intro soooo bad. I've been searching for ages. That 'Whole lotta love' freak out was bone chilling. Every Saturday my older cousin force me to watch channel 20. Now I'm a horror movie addict. Thanks channel 20!
Ahh yes! That would be the Chiller Double Feature intro. The hunt is on for that one. Used to see '' Don't Look In The Basement'' & ''Zombie Lake'' quite often on that. Someone told me they have Scream Theatre footage but have yet to produce it.. we will see. Stay tuned my freaks!
SO AMAZING!! Now we gotta see the intro with the sonic-psychedelic section of 'Whole Lotta Love' and clips from Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things!!! sigh...one of these days.
KOLCHAK!

HD cable and DVR are awesome. Television in Detroit in the 80s was friggin' awesome. Nobody under the age of 35 can possibly understand.
