When was this discovered? It was always reported the '61 concert wasn't recorded. Most have no idea he's a huge reason why the Pearl Harbor monument exists. Nobody would fund it, so he did this free concert to raise the cash. Fantastic!

"Such A Night" never got much air time because it had already been a hit for someone else when Elvis recorded a cover of it not to mention it wasn't released as a single for another couple years after this by which time it was no longer a hot commodity.

ELVIS was doing the dancing, the singing, playing the guitar, the piano, drums and a million other things Jackson couldn't do. So what, the Beatles and Jackson wrote a few more songs than ELVIS did. But think about this, ELVIS did alot more concerts than they did to. ELVIS was the whole effin show and he didn't need three other guys or backup dancers to do it. ELVIS was always live unlike most who lipsynced their live shows.

I'm surprised at the recording quaility. Back then it was hard to record a rock concert with all the screaming going on, and the recording equipment wasn't what it is today.

When was this discovered? It was always reported the '61 concert wasn't recorded. Most have no idea he's a huge reason why the Pearl Harbor monument exists. Nobody would fund it, so he did this free concert to raise the cash. Fantastic!

@squallthegriever Reality is he sang rather few songs written by blacks. He covered some but few were hits. Only 5 out of Elvis's 31 #1 hits (US & UK combined) were written by black people. He never had a #1 hit (or close) covering a song by a black artist. Some trivia: covering songs was the norm in 50s. Hound Dog (written by white guys) was covered over 30 times! That was the norm. A new written song can be less innovative then a re-work of an old song. You have to look deeper. R&B and early R&R pioneers like Big Joe Turner or W. Harris they were as singer and stylist so much influencial. It´s about communicating a song and Big El was master.

well, the beatles could write songs, wrote the best songs, the beatles all could play all instruments, paul even made a record by himself, elvis only could do some rythm stuff and play the piano, beatles pushed the boundaries what could be achieved in the studio, they had the first stadium rock concert, and they are the most successfull band when it goes to the charts, first five places at once and so on.

in the 50s he was very unfluential, one of the most influential, but after 58 he never put out one record that introduced anything new to the music, while the beatles changed what rock music can sound like in just 8 years of recording.
he was a good singer and was very good in singing the songs others wrote for him or those he just covered, early elvis rocked and ruled, movie elvis sucks musically and comeback elvis is great but not influential.

Elvis died more than 3 decades and is still remembered his death, Elvis gave over 1000 concerts in the last 7 years of his life, Elvis gave 4 concerts in a row at Madison Square Garden and fill them all, Elvis never gave a concert outside of the U.S. and even so he became famous worldwide, RCA certify 1,000 million Elvis records in 1980 and BMG in 1997, Elvis is the king.

The Beatles split up almost 4 decades ago and still they are remembered as the best, greatest, most influential and talented group ever, lennon-mccartneyx still holds the name of the best songwritership ever, the beatles gave more than 1000 concerts in their lives, they INVENTED stadium rock, elvis coulnd't give concerts outside because pasrker was illegal or something like that.

The number of people that attended the fair that year was estimated at over 100,000. He also performed at Empire Stadium in Canada in 1957. And there are numerous other instances of him performing outdoors and in stadiums long before the Beatles or Michael Jackson or WOODSTOCK.

Elvis didn't need the 73 to cement his title. It was already done with his untouchable amount of chart toppers, golds, platinums, singles, ..................#1s, top 40s, top 20s top 10s. Have you ever been to Graceland in the record room????? What other artists or groups can fill a room with all that gold and platinum certified???? Before anyone goes off spouting Beatles, Jackson, Cash or whomever, Guiness says other wise. For God's sake, he was almost 40 during the 73. Not bad!

and you should see the combined amount of all the gold and platinum records of the four beatles compbined, not without a doubt paul is the most sucessfull singer_songwriter of all time.
but still evlis is the king, and he's the most important solo artist in rock , but without the beatles we wouldn't have modern music, they revolutionized anything, from making albums the most important medium rather than singles and their studio experimentation.

The most important solo artist that inspired the Beatles. I enjoy the fact that the only person they wanted to meet when they came to America was Elvis. Look, if you go to any other you tube artists page, you will see the first person they go after is Elvis. For instance, on the Michael Jackson page, they attack Elvis. On the Beatles page, they attack Elvis. Go to Johnny Cash's page, and they attack Elvis. They never attack the Beatles. It is simple, to be #1 you have to beat #1.

Yes - Aloha pretty much marked the end. For such a huge audience - the concert of a life time - he did not pull anything special out - sluggish as all hell - basically couldn't care - it was, I'm sorry, a boring concert and did not showcase or do anything to cement his title as "King of Rock n Roll". In fact, completely the opposite.

You presuppose he would have become a national/international superstar wtihout Parker; there is absolutely no evidence of that. It was Parker who had the RCA and television contacts. Only Parker could have gotten the kind of money and concessions from a major record label for a then regional star like Elvis Presley. It was also Parker who turned Elvis into the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Parker who negotiated Elvis' biggest successes from the '68 Special through Aloha and beyond.

Elvis was not a national star when he met the Colonel, only a regional star. It was the Colonel who brought Elvis to RCA and television. It was the Colonel that turned 1956 into Elvis' breakthrough year.

It's pretty cool someone actually had the audio, this song never got any airtime because at the time the dude had so much out there and the freegin movies were too much of a distraction - in the hospital before he died he asked a nurse if she thought the people would ever remember him after he died.

"Such A Night" never got much air time because it had already been a hit for someone else when Elvis recorded a cover of it not to mention it wasn't released as a single for another couple years after this by which time it was no longer a hot commodity.
