The space in front of the magazine... there is a gap in her arm. Her arm runs straight until it disappears when it hits the mag, and the left hand is floating in mid-air.
And even if this is somehow a phenomenon of shadows or light reflection, she didn't load the gun herself. She was handed the rifle and asked to pose real quick.
Yes, it definitely can be done. There was one dumbass kid in my platoon on my Infantry Qualification Course who shoved a mag in backwards. As for someone else loading the rifle, that seems unlikely. Police don't usually pose for pictures during standoffs with armed suspects, that's just stupid. Plus, there's a crap load of paperwork just for drawing police weapons and nobody's going to write a three page report just so someone can snap a photo. If a cop points a weapon, it's because they need it
They didn't take that picture during the standoff. They were reporting the story AFTER it happened and they needed a picture to represent the story.
So they set up a rendition of the standoff at the location where it happened. Someone loaded the magazine in the AR, handed it to her, she posed, they snapped a picture, she handed it back, and everyone went back to their business.
Marble Falls picture: Could it be that the magazine is attached upside down to another one that IS in correctly? You see that in movies a lot, but I'm not sure of any practical purpose for that.
I was waiting for you to stab yourself in the neck with that bayonet while shaking the rifle... that would have been funny. But good thing you had it on there: you never know when Charlie will leap from the bush in your living room.
