Hitchens is a brilliant and intimidating rhetorician, which is he has a devoted fan base / atheistic cult of personality. Were his politics not so radical, he'd make a fantastic politician. But rhetorical questions, no matter how forcefully they are put, are no substitute for actual reason. Academic philosophers on both sides of the fence pay the popular "New Atheist" authors and their worn-out, emotive arguments no attention at all. A loving action is a loving action, so long as we are both using the same definition for the word 'loving'. Rape and murder are no loving actions no mater the reasoning behind them. The definition of all religions when understood from the outside with thorough examination and without any assumptions are the practices to attain wisdom, which is knowledge worth knowing. Unfortunately most people, ~ 99%, do not have the capacity to see most things clearly and have falsely or irrationally made the wrong conclusions. I just noticed someone comment on hitchens' close mindedness. An atheist believes god does not exist. Antitheism Is that if god does exist It would be a bad thing. Why would you be open to the suggestion that god does exist? You wouldn't. If you are a Christian as alistar, why would you be open to the non-existence of god? That would be suicide, moron. Of course, humans, depending on ideals, are close minded, unless you have conflicting ideas.

I find it extremely interesting, and entirely telling, that Hitchens comes across arrogant and close minded while McGrath is conciliatory and generous. Hitchens bases his arguments on what his understanding of Christian beliefs are, yet he obviously doesn't have a correct understanding, and refuses to even question whether his understanding is correct. In addition Hitchens states in his opening remarks that he will try to limit his arguments to Christianity, yet continually refers to Islam.

So much time wasted on discussing , thinking the book called bible is the ultimate truth !! For those who think so , I would say spend some time thinking a bit before putting your opinions based on the HOLLY book .. Make your homework and check the history for the last 2000 years ... A book more touched and retouched than a prostitute on a cabaret , come on people wake up DO some exrecise and read about the origens of it ... You might get a very unpleasant SURPRISE !!

So if your religion and your god is better than the muslim god and religion then you are saying there is more then one god. So if there are now as you say 2 gods then why not 4 or 8 or billions of them? So if there are as you say billions of gods which one of them created the universe and who said that particular god could take precedence over all other gods? You Just Destroyed God!

So if you know that only your God is loving then you must also know that other Gods are not loving. Therefore according to you first statement there must be other Gods! And if as You say there must be other Gods how do you know for certain your God is the one who created the universe? You can't have it both ways! Get an education and grow up!
