@NekoChanTan I'm assuming because those are the easiest numbers to input. I mean, if he were to pick 5, 6, and -7, it would be harder to graph those and connect them. If you have smaller, closer numbers, such as 1, 0, and -1, it's easier to plug them into the equation and do it, rather than larger, more unnecessary numbers. Why work hard when you don't have to?

In reality, your average math teacher is more or less just as good as this guy. We just understand more when this guy teaches because majority of our attention is focused on this single video, whereas in the classroom we often get distracted. Not to mention our classroom's learning conditions (temperature,noise) are not as learning-friendly compared to sitting at home in front of our computers.

So please stop slamming your Math teachers because you don't think they teach as well as this guy. :)

wow, now I completely get it!!!! The math teachers in school always go super fast and don't explain in depth and let me finish my notes. It's like they make math class function in a way so that only the kids in the 90's percentiles of standard testing or straight A's' in class.I am starting to think that maybe we shouldn't even go to school anymore. @lalanto341 1,0,-1 are static #'s that can come from anything....Each value you choose for (x) will yield a different (y). Most people use 1,0,and -1 because they are the easiest to use in algebraic equations but if you wanted to you could use 9,6,3,0-3,-6,-9 or anything else you chose.
