you have somthing seriously wrong with that card if it idles at 78'C. i have a 4850 HD by ASUS and it idles at 40-50'C and only reaches 69'C Under MAX load.
@SASenglish ye asus hav some really nice coolin i've got a hd 5850 by asus it idles 37c and even on load it only goes 50c do u hav the DirectCU version?
Realistically nowadays in gaming, I've found that you have to have no less than 4GB, yet no more than 4GB (games generally ask for around 2.2GB + Windows around 1.2GB with extra processes - for me at least).
You might do it with a 4850 at 1280x1024 (maximum). Try it at 1280x720 (a.k.a. 720progressive) and you might average 30FPS (with no AA).
@vangstaz You simple don't know much about programming if you are saying that the GPU does not matter when running the Cry Engine or any engine for that matter. More then just rendering is done on the GPU side. Please do some research before you start spatting out BS like that.
@musicman3x So you're telling me that the GPU calculates physics and processes game effects? Such as the movement in every leaf, particle, physics, and effects? In Cryengine, the GPU renders ONLY graphics. It DOES NOT calculate physics and the environment. It is done on the CPU and how fast it can access the system RAM. If Crysis were better optimized, the RADEON HD 3870 and GeForce 8800GTX can run it no problem since Crysis was released during that time. I'd think before I talk if I were you.
Still it hasn't been on very high fully. Object detail was on high, you needed to restart the game to apply object detail. Its vision distance, and it eats your computer pretty good. Check my Crysis videos, they have about 20 views :D
Crysis is a poorly optimized game. Metro 2033 comes in a close second. But Crysis Warhead was optimized a lot better than Crysis. This game will bring any system to it's knees.
Crysis is so poorly optimized. Even most of today's highest-end PC's still have trouble running the game at 1080p with maximum quality while trying to obtain a solid 60FPS. And there are always lag spikes at certain parts. It's just as poorly optimized as the Sims.
@vangstaz well in all honesty aslong as a game runs above 25 FPS then i couldn't care less cause my eyes can't notice the difference between 25 and 60
@Jellic4t No I'm talking about lag spikes. Do you know what that is? Is when the game freezes for about a second just trying to load the environment around it.
@vangstaz I've found thats more or less down to your RAM, I remember years ago i had a smooth game (But lag spikey, and a quick upgrade got rid of it) Would've thought the VRAM handled that but seems not fully the case
@vangstaz you're an idiot, ever heard of an HD 5870 or a GTX 480!? those are the high end graphics cards atm, and they get an avarige of 40fps @ 1080p x16Q so the HIGHEST end pc would be tripple cf or 3way sli and that adds another 30fps per gpu... you do the math.
@Khomitsar High end graphics cards, low end graphics cards, who the hell cares? The graphics card just renders graphics. It does not process the environment and calculate physics. It's not the graphics card's fault that's why the game spikes, but how poorly the game communicates with the CPU and RAM.
Crysis was released in 2007 during the time of the GeForce 8000 and the RADEON HD 3000 series graphics cards. The game would have ran extremely well with them if the game was optimized correctly.
@Khomitsar By the way, I can tell if a game is lagging due to the graphics card or CPU. For Crysis, the lag spikes are caused by the game failing to communicate to the CPU in time to send the data to the GPU.
@pokealong1227 Just by the way you type, I can see that you're just another ignorant and retarded moron who doesn't know shit about computers. Go back to playing your guitar until you find something relevant to say that is actually worth listening to.
@vangstaz can u believe that the predicted, that means a bit higher than what they really are, recommended system req for the Crysis 2 are just like the first game's :D
i cant find any comparison vids but whats better the 4850 or 5670? I know the 5670 has dx11 but I am building am trying to find the perfect video card to upgrade my athlon II X2, 3gb ddr3, 550w computer.
@megamindstorm101 I'd also like to know the answer to this, From what i've read the 4850 seems to be just that bit better, but the 5670 has DX11 + no 6 pin connector etc
@thespartenkid doesnt fit thats why I am looking at some of the lower cards. and I know they sell single slot 5770 but the brands I want dont sell single slot cards. SO I have to go for a 5670 or something similar.
but I think I found oout what to use becasue I can get a 3850 from my bro for 13$ so I figured why not this computer is only temporary until I get my gaming computer.
I have this card and all my games run smooth except in some i have stutter. what i mean is it just randomly pauses for a sec, and then continues run just fine. it does this frequently enought to be annoying, anyone know the problem? running @ 1366x768p using catalyst 10.3, windows 7 32 bit
@kevinsupra90 Actually...the 8800gts is better than the 9500gt lol. just because its part of the higher series doesnt mean anything. The 8800gts is a ddr3 card. If its the 640 mb version you have a 320 bit inferface, and it will absolutely stomp the 9500.
And the fact that you stated you have a 939 system isnt really important. I play on a 939 too, with a 5750. I can only play on high at a playable framerate.
i stopped worrying about whether games can max or not after i got the hd 4850. Now im hoping to get 5850 or another 4850 to crossfire so I can buy a big 24 inch monitor :)
I dunno...60 degrees Celsius while playing Crysis on 1440x1050 resolution, 2x AA, and on 'Gamer' settings seems to be decent for the single-slot, stock design heatsink/cooling. I can clock it up to 700/1060 and its around 60-65 degrees (full load).
I don't know why people's 4850 is like so warm. I have the stock design and it idles at about 45 degress with fan speed @ 40%, and doesn't go higher than 60 degress with crysis running... I OC mine to 660/1025 (for a small boost) too so...
I got the dual slot HD 4850. Mine has PHYSIX! i didnt believe it but really! Dual slot edition with fan on Max i got 44° on idle and 60 under max load.
Chrysis on 1920x1920 very high and high with physic on very high i get around 20 fps
would i run this on ultra high with no AA ? and how about with AA x4 ?? AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition quad 3.2ghz Foxconn 6100M61-PMV (6x USB2.0, Onboard GeForce video) 4GB DDR2 800mhz (2x 2GB) 500GB S-ATAII hdd ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
would i run this game as fast as u do with these specs ? HP Pavilion p6110uk Desktop PC/ AMD Phenom X4 9650 2.3ghz/ 4GB RAM/ 640GB HDD/ Radeon HD 4350 Graphics/ Vista Home Premium 64bit O/S
i would probably do a simple OC to lik 2.5ghz or something ..... so really... same configs ur using in the game but without AA .. would i run it ? if yh..how many fps would i probably get ?
n jst curious...if i buy 4850 would it run perfecly ?
But kinda difficult, im not much of a stealth person, i came here to kill things!
I can play at High settings with:
nVidia GT 9800 1GB
3GB RAM
AMD 64 X2 Duel core processor +4600
...Cant they make a video card that uses a diffrent method of rendering? Like instead of processing everything, have the game run as background, and rapidly take pictures of the game at chosen framerate. Then display images on Monitor.
@Legend4271 lawl i have a duel core 3.0ghz and this card single slot and i run the game on near max settings with 40 fames a sec at g card bein core clocked. you not very smart when it comes to comps. you must be the type of person that spends 1k to buy a comp and then yells at everything that isnt as good as his specs lol
My comp fucked up because the motherboard couldn't handdle the 'Stress' the power supply was giving her. My Dual-core was too 3.0 Ghz and it lagged like a motherfucker, unless I run alt of programs in the background.
I have all settings pumped to top, my screen resolution at 1152 x 864.. x8 AA and full enthusiast (highest) and i get about 25-30 fps in all areas on Crysis
my spec:
ASRock G31M-S R2.0 Motherboard
Intel Pentium 3.2Ghz Dual Core, 2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD4850 1GB (CiC 700Watt Power Supply)
all in a Silver HP Pavilion Case (looks good enough)
AMD PHENOM X3 720,MBD GYGABITE MA770-UD3,POWER COLOR ATI RADEON HD 4850 512MB DDR3.MEM 2X2GB KINGSTON CL6,HDD 640 GB WD BLUE CAVIAR SATA.This is my comp is it good?but sometimes crysis lags,is this because the comp or game?
I have an ATI Radeon HD 4850 1 GB, I bought it last week. I had a 8600GT 512 MB and changed the HD 4850 1 GB. I play on High at 30 FPS is good? My processor is a Phenom X4 9550, if my processor was a little better, I might be able to play on Very High? Only a doubt.
30 Fraps is totally ok. 24 fraps is the minimum because if you have 24 pictures per second you have a movie. so its smoth. if its under 24 frames its laggy. this is like a movie(or a game works)
Hm, and if I buy a new CPU like Phenom II CPUs, working with my ASUS M4A78, it will increase FPS like 60 FPS? I will be able to play on Very High with 24 FPS or more with a Phenom II CPU like 955? For me High is very good, its just a doubt.
Well, I discovered that I can play it on Very High Settings (All on Very High) on 1024x768, my lower frame-rate was 17 and it is rarely, I stay 26 ~ 35 FPS good? Have any problem play Crysis in a resolution that is lower than my monitor?
im going for the 4870 512 mb.... or theres a 1 GB version of it as well... just gotta go hardware hunting... like me, i dont have mine yet, i have a 4670 rite now, im waiting to upgrade to a new board processor and ram first.
1 GB sure and for high resolutions like your 1 GB or the gaming will be slower. For High resolutions1 GB, but I have a monitor with resolution 1280x1024 and I bought a HD 4850 1 GB, 1 GB is better.
For High resolutions like 1680x1050 512 MB sucks because High resolutions requires more GPU power, so the GPU needs more memory. I bought a HD 4850 1 GB, because if I change my monitor I already have my HD 4850 with 1 GB and in tests of Internet that I saw, I saw that HD 4850 1 GB wins than 512 MB.
System Specs:
Dual Core 2.4ghz E2140
4gb DDR2 Ram
Sapphire HD Radeon 4830 512mb
DirectX 11
All settings on High - Very High with no AA.
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit OS.
1440x900 Resolution.

@ThatGuyInAmerica My two 5770s (equal to a single 5770) can run Crysis @ 1920x1080; Very High with 4xAA at around 35FPS average.

my frend have 4gb ram and crysis uses only like 60% of it...

MosQear 2 years ago
Man this game is fun as hell!
I Would continue but i only have around 1 letter.
phobos001 2 years ago
What the FUCK is with everyone using a shitty dual-core. You won't even get on Very High unless its well over 3.5 GHZ
Legend4271 2 years ago
thats so untrue
G4meTesters 2 years ago 7
u could depending on the resolution : D
jamdunker123 2 years ago
@Legend4271 lawl i have a duel core 3.0ghz and this card single slot and i run the game on near max settings with 40 fames a sec at g card bein core clocked. you not very smart when it comes to comps. you must be the type of person that spends 1k to buy a comp and then yells at everything that isnt as good as his specs lol
FreakyBrosFilms 2 years ago
@FreakyBrosFilms
My comp fucked up because the motherboard couldn't handdle the 'Stress' the power supply was giving her. My Dual-core was too 3.0 Ghz and it lagged like a motherfucker, unless I run alt of programs in the background.
Legend4271 2 years ago
@bati555

I play on Very High at 1024x768. Minimum 17 FPS (rarely VERY RARELY) Average 26 FPS and maximum 40 FPS.
PCsReviews 2 years ago
I guess your processor will make you probelms. You need more than 2 GHz to make it run smooth on high. The rest is ok I think
ThorAxeTheThunder 2 years ago
I have an ATI Radeon HD 4850 1 GB, I bought it last week. I had a 8600GT 512 MB and changed the HD 4850 1 GB. I play on High at 30 FPS is good? My processor is a Phenom X4 9550, if my processor was a little better, I might be able to play on Very High? Only a doubt.
PCsReviews 2 years ago
30 Fraps is totally ok. 24 fraps is the minimum because if you have 24 pictures per second you have a movie. so its smoth. if its under 24 frames its laggy. this is like a movie(or a game works)
ThorAxeTheThunder 2 years ago
Hm, and if I buy a new CPU like Phenom II CPUs, working with my ASUS M4A78, it will increase FPS like 60 FPS? I will be able to play on Very High with 24 FPS or more with a Phenom II CPU like 955? For me High is very good, its just a doubt.
PCsReviews 2 years ago
I am not a professional. Unfortunally I dont know it
ThorAxeTheThunder 2 years ago
Well, I discovered that I can play it on Very High Settings (All on Very High) on 1024x768, my lower frame-rate was 17 and it is rarely, I stay 26 ~ 35 FPS good? Have any problem play Crysis in a resolution that is lower than my monitor?
PCsReviews 2 years ago
26-35 fraps is good.
ThorAxeTheThunder 2 years ago
Hi i want to buy a new card but i don't know wich one is better...
HD 4850 1gb or HD 4870 512mb????????
Processor: Phenom 2 X3 720
Resolution: 1680x1050
Please Help me(sry for bad english)
SimpSonSan1 2 years ago
im going for the 4870 512 mb.... or theres a 1 GB version of it as well... just gotta go hardware hunting... like me, i dont have mine yet, i have a 4670 rite now, im waiting to upgrade to a new board processor and ram first.
acefilms2008 2 years ago
1 GB sure and for high resolutions like your 1 GB or the gaming will be slower. For High resolutions1 GB, but I have a monitor with resolution 1280x1024 and I bought a HD 4850 1 GB, 1 GB is better.
PCsReviews 2 years ago
ur making no sense 0.0 all i see is 1gb and no comparison
madeinchinavids 2 years ago
For High resolutions like 1680x1050 512 MB sucks because High resolutions requires more GPU power, so the GPU needs more memory. I bought a HD 4850 1 GB, because if I change my monitor I already have my HD 4850 with 1 GB and in tests of Internet that I saw, I saw that HD 4850 1 GB wins than 512 MB.
PCsReviews 2 years ago
