This man is a total fraud and typical of the bought off, threatened and blackmailed political class. David Icke is one of the true opponents of the NWO this man and Shakri Chakrabarti of Liberty would not even allow him into a public meeting both of them associated with the Bilderberg group. If you do not understand the implications of this Google or YT it. After taking this stand against Big Brother what has he done, nothing, he is an irrelevant distraction, as are most politicians.
This man is a plant, been exposed! I totally agree with david ickes take on him, why are all these ppl who are greatly involved in "big brother" come to help him win his seat? surely these people should be the last people who'd want to help him? Yet again wool being pulled over the eyes of the british public and only small handful question it and think something is not right
This man has been talked about in America as potential hero, like Ron Paul for example.
Still, some sense he's not totally an angel - we've heard some reports of him being not preventing cruelty towards "whistle blowers" who tried to expose the British government about drug smuggling.
We can't make solid judgements this though because these rumours haven't been proven yet due to lack of evidence - for now he's earned great respect and i hope he can oppose this apparent nwo like movement.
David Davis is controlled opposition. He has connection with the project for the new american century. He is a new world order shill who is just pulling a quick one on the public to gain their confidence. There is no way he will stop the EU police state crashing down on us. He won't get into a debate over police state issues. Everything he does is controlled by the elite. He is a two faced rat and belongs in prison along with Tony Blair & Gordan Brown!
I agree about a big police state being on the way but David Davis isn't a part of any NWO. A NWO will happen indirectly because of trade, globalisation and declining trade unions and nationalism but this will suit the EU just fine, no fantasy Zionism needed.
I'm afraid the only people who will be interested in fighting back will be the lunatic loner types like Timothy Mcveigh and David Copeland, so we're doomed!!
Normal people have lost the will for protest and civil disobedience.
Sorry david davis is as neocon as they come he is being backed and funded by a neocon think tank out of Oxford ..I would like to see David Icke beat him in the election 8 )
I think all this does is to make David Davis look foolish.
This doesn't prove that people are rebelling aganist days in prison, it just shows they want someone vaguely sane rather than someone in fancy dress!
He claims it shows his constiuency is aginst the bill, but that isn't what they were voting about! He'd just putting words in people's mouths....typical politician!!!
The reason he was only up against people in fancy dress was because Labour didn't run because they would have lost disastrously, and UKIP didn't run because they agree with him. Just more sneaky, but unsuccessful tactics by the government.
Anyway, your pal ballsinmouth reckons that 90%of the population agree with you, thats around 55 million people, so really you have nothing to worry about. However, I'd be surprised if 9% actually gave a shit and probably had more immediate things to worry about.
Anyway, keep up the good work brothers and I'm off to give my jack boots a good polishing and read mein kampf on the toilet.
You guys are funny, the old 'Nazi Germany' tag comes out, I was waiting for that old cliche.
If we are in the realms of stupid then why not petition to remove all border controls, passports, CCTV, crimal record checks, laws, capitalism etc etc, oh and that broomstick from your rectum.
Your just the sort of person who would have their snout in the trough in 1932 living in Hitler's Germany.
People like you won't realize anythings wrong with freedoms being destroyed slowly until it's miles too late and when it is you'll turn round and say something like "oh why didn't any MPs do anything earlier?"
Well, there you have it somebody actually has but your so blind you can't recognize this brave stand by DD, freedom comes at the price of eternal vigilance.
I'm always up for INTELLIGENT debate, but after your comments about cancer, Northern Roch and the cost of a by-election, I realised you're not capable of offering me that. Imagine arguing with a child about the existance of Father Christmas, thats how I feel arguing with you.
Stats plucked out of mid-air again. Where does 'the vast majority' come from? If this is the case then you have nothing to worry about then do you. Who's a sheep now then?
I'm sure a by-election costs more than £30k, and in any case I'm sure there is a cancer patient in his constituency that could do with it. It's economies of scale. I just think he should pay for it himself, or maybe you and your 10 most loaded mates should instead. I'm sure we've spent enough on Northern Rock etc.
Haha, you haven't got anything more sensible to put forward than 'you're an idiot', well congratulations on a coherant argument. Must have been taken from the David Davis book of intelligent things to say. You'll go far my friend.
Hang on, maybe you are the spindoctor for some lefty PC brigade trying to get us to lower our defences, then BAM, we're invaded by a band of soap dodging, tie-die wearing, loved-up, vegetarian, organic growing drama teachers from the 1970's.
Actually I do think that we are being bred to be over-paranoid about 'the war on terror' and it is all for the most cynical reasons, but this doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
90%? Where did you pick that spurious stat from, your backside? I don't know anybody who believes that us taxpayers should pointlessly spend the money to vote in an MP who was already an MP in first place. Especiall for a publicity stunt because he feels that Cameron gets all the air time, diddums.
There you go, my stat is 100% believe it isn't. Wow, easy this bullshit malarky isn't it?
Lets be realistic here £30k is pennies to the tax payer. It works out to be less than a tenth of a penny per tax payer. An absolute bargin to let the people decide if they want all their basic freedoms taken away. I obviously don't know the exact percentage but I know it's the vast majority. If you get all your opinions from information in the news then I could see why you would think otherwise.
Wow, what a drama queen! I'm shaking in my boots, well I would do if I had something to hide. Most of Europe already have an ID system and they seem OK. I can't see Gordon Brown putting on some jack boots and goose stepping out of number 10 anytime soon. Also read your history, we didn't go to war (ww2 or any) for the reasons you've suggested, they were far more cynical than that. Wishful thinking in lala land I think.
A British hero! Many don't oppose this bill because they think it's only against terrorists, it's against YOU. Wake up sheeple! 'Papers please - may I see your papers'. Thousands of British soldiers died fighting evil systems that imprisoned without trial. Now its here. Welcome to the begining of state terror.
So who is going to pay for this pointless by-election? The taxpayers? Well it's my freedom to go and tell him to pay for his own bloody publicity stunt.
So what about the 90% of the population who believe this is money extremely well spent? They're all wrong and you're right? I bet you work for the BBC.
You're a Sith Lord?! How cute! I'm a Dark Elf! You should come round my house and we could play Magic the Gathering! Or maybe we could just dress up and reenact a fantacy battle... do you have one of those plastic lightsabres?
Rock on David Davies! 9/11 was so obviously an "inside job" to start with, 7/7 has some very dodgy aspects to it if you look into it and I have just been to Washington D.C. where I had in flight traveling lots of silly stuff about having liquids (just bottles of mineral water!)taken off me - but met so many bloody amazing wonderful KIND American people - for God's sake let's sort this insanity out NOW!
How do we know what were supposed to do to help him? What comes next? The whole media has gone VERY quiet about about this, and he doesn't seem to have a website. Anyone know?
I just wonder how he got so high in power without waking up. The system really must be insanely compartmentalised, so even the highest level people don't really know what's going on at the top.
This is almost identical to the debates that we have here in the U.S. I hope that at least one of our countries can find a good solution to these issues, and that the other can observe and learn and follow suit.
davis rocks the house! cameron must be gagging on his tofu burger!!! shit is coming down when a tory gets up and says this shit!!! all power to davis!! political genuis knows when to act. what are you lot doing?
When the BBC try and ridicule this they just alienate themselves further from the public. Even to people who didn't realise before, this episode has made it blatantly obvious that the BBC couldn't care less about the public and only have the governments interests at heart.
Looking through these comments I see there are still a minority who walk around with their eyes closed, but I'm starting to wonder if they are really sheep or just government employed spin doctors...
Kelvin MacKenzie, runner in the election on a pro-42-day detention platform, has stated: "I have been associated with The Sun for 30 years. The Sun is very, very hostile to David Davis because of his 28 day stance and The Sun has always been very up for 42 days and perhaps even 420 days".(Wikipedia)
420 days?!?!? Enough is enough, do we really want this totalitarian newspaper in this country? The entire Murdoch enterprise should be permanently banned from operating in the UK after this comment.
wow someone whos actually willing to stand up and tell it how it is i wonder how mny more there are that have not got the nuts to do this . i salute u mr davis genuine patriot and honourable man . him and benn should stand for leadership .
Finally a politician is bringing this disgraceful erosion of civil liberties to the forefront of discussion. This is the single most important issue facing Britain. I for one will grit my teeth and vote - for the first time - Conservative in the next election.
I have posted a Video in response to this, featuring the Right Wing Kelvin MacKenzie. It is VERY telling that MURDOCH picked MacKEnzie to stand AGAINST Davis and Bothe BLAIR AND BROWN were present when the decision was made.
We are THROWING away the hard fought for freedoms of out forefathers.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"
One step at a time though eh? I'm not saying this guy isn't awesome. Maybe he'll go on to tackle other issues after this one and then he will become the UK Ron Paul.
They started the process years ago stripping the average person the right to own certain firearms, they progressed onto making society safer by placing clusters of CCTV networks. Now theyre coming for the knives and it will progress onto a dangerous animals amnesty, mans best friend the humble pooch will be 'phased out'.
The progressives will then cry for the Govt to have the death penalty reinstated because the only thing that will be left to love is Big Brother and that WONT be taken away.
I'm totally for Davis's stance on civil liberty but against his pro-American ideas and his belief in the death penalty. Killing is killing, whether it's in the name of some (made up) law or not. These ideas of his totally nullify the rest of his philosophy. He's also clearly pompous, presumptuous and self-important. We don't have any good politicians in this country, as far as I'm aware. It's as Nietzsche said : the two opposite poles in the talent for philosophy are India and England.
1 CCTV camera for every 14 people, anti terror and serious organised crime legislation used against protesters and dissenters, DNA databases full of innocent people and the coming ID cards. No thanks
I have been watching the UKs BBC coverage on his patriotic decision and have to say Im absolutely disgusted. Not one single news or political commentator the BBC have had on has considered his decision is principled and for protecting of all our civil liberties. The Marxist BBC simply scoffs and portrays the whole things as one big joke. The Newsnight presenter laughed during every comment he read from the prompter and with guests. How dare they when this concerns all our liberties. Bastards!
I agree, the BBC is payed for by us as licence payers but someone is managing to put a different slant and is definately biased to some other agenda. The majority of British people never get thier voice heard properly, we are so very controlled.
Go David Davis good to hear someone making a stand. Since Benazir Bhutto announced that Bin Laden is dead and the Media ignored her, we need people to make a stand against this nonsensical hysteria being whipped up by the Neocons and our own Government
God Bless David Davis!!!!!! Thank God some people's beliefs in people's rights are more important than job & money. Down with the Snoopers & the injustice. Thank you for taking a stand, David Davis. Brits are fortunate to have you.
because you live in the past you happily allow your freedoms today and for the future to be taken away. Why? Who exactly are you hurting by you train of thought except your-self and future generations.
During the IRA years the Tories didn't curb ANY of our freedoms or create an air of hysteria and fear. But your marxist Labour control freaks have, its basically all they have done and they will not rest until they have you chipped, watched 24-7, monitored and eventually owners of your soul.
Over the years my respect for politicians has waned but the stand David Davis is taking makes me proud to be British. Politics without principles is a worthless pastime, but driven by principles it becomes something great and worthy of respect.
I hope the electorate will back Davis and see what this government are doing to our freedom. By continually eroding our freedoms, some of which existing for nearly 900 years, the government has become the lap dog of the terrorists.
DOesn't it just get on your nerves that the most viewed clips on the British Youtube section are of Big Brother 9 reality tv show? And not vitaly important videos like this.
its time to fight back people, things are moving so fast now, we are losing our freedom, this is a time for people power, we DONT WANT A NEW WORLD ORDER
These nations have progressed throught this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage."
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two-hundred years.
What does the Queen and The Royal family have to say about this Government, surley if they are commiting treason on this country she should have her say, but they proberbley advise her not to speak out after all it's politics, but it's not! it's do do with control. Only The Queen has the Power to disolve the government.
Not so she has already signed 2 papers for her own abdication. The third and last document was to be signed when the EU excepted the "constitution" into law. Now the Irish have stopped that who knows what will happen now.
This is (and was under Blair)an appalling administration. But you're living in dreamland if you think that someone like Davis would have been any better. The Tories will get in and for a while it will be a relief, but really it'll be just another false dawn. Break ties with America and we might have a real dawn for a change. You all get so excited about nothing : nothing has happened here, at all.
When a Labour govt is like Attlee's I can support the welfare state. When a Labour govt is like this, it's enough to turn you into either a neolibertarian or even an anarchist.
The USA is guilty of dreadful crimes against humanity, all carried out long before '9/11' and in the most surreptitious way. The idea of the 'New American Century' has hardly been hushed up by the arrogant Americans. It's this project that we need to divorce ourselves from. All other matters are trivial : Davis wasn't going to be the leader anyway but his Americanized thinking is typical of British politicians, and it's no more clearly manifest than in his stance on the death penalty.
Fantastic speech. I'd given up for the politics of the Conservatives (I'm a Conservative in terms of philosophy, but never thought Cameron was) but the more they speak out like this the better I like them. Someone should do this and stay in the party to stop the anti-libertarians in both parties.
We need a totally different type of politician : one who reads his history differently and more honestly. Out with Darwin and Mill and their hangers-on and in with, above all, Martin Heidegger. A more honest and serious attitude towards death is needed and a far profounder view of the human being's place within the whole. Our entire view of human freedom (honestly held in most cases, I don't doubt) needs to be placed in philosophical question. There will be no end to terrorism otherwise.
Call it religiosity or a superstitious fear but it worries me that someone can, apparently unthinkingly, so quickly in his career come to such a hellish mindset as to believe in the death penalty in the name of 'justice'. I couldn't care less whatever Mr.Davis might think about anything else : his libertarian stance on other things is no better than stroking a dead body and giving it a cup of tea after he's already murdered it. England needs to break the 'special relationship' with the US
David, you're absolutely right, I don't understand why more politicians and people don't make a stand against the insidious, surreptitious, and relentless erosion of our Fundamental Freedoms!!!!!
go ron paul go david davis .now at 2 minutes to midnight.now is the time if a man is not free he is not alive at all, freedom to march freedom to demonstrate freedom to discuss freedom to decide .FREEDOM TO THINK.open goverment protection of privacy no id cards no dna database .go david davis go ron paul go. expose blair bush obama the eu the whole rotten banking pile of steaming dung.may spirit and truth protect you both
I really had all but given up hope for nearly all politicians in the UK, but Dave has restored my faith somewhat.
Well done Mr Davis. Your a credit to your party but MOSTLY you seem to have the people of these lands at the very centre of your decision..just as it shoul dbe of course.
I believe you will find much support for this move as long as the BBC can stop making your decision look as if its some sort of circus freak episode.
The BBC won't stop because the work for the government. But it doesn't matter either way because it looks like the public are starting to see through their bullshit. I hope they keep it up, the more they slag him off the more they discredit themselves and alienate themselves from the public. BBC, the Murdoch empire, channel 4, they'll all trying their best, but nothings is working this time, lets keep it that way!
No not really, but out of the tens of thousands of people who have seen my name, you are the first to say anythng. I guess that makes you pretty uptight right? Maybe learn to not take life so seriously? No matter though, I wasn't after your approval, and I certainly am not bothered that it offends you, in fact I find it quite amusing. I guess you've never had sex before, or maybe you did and it wasn't for you?
Yes I totally agree, reading back it is rather funny. However I must adhere to my conclusion that anyone who calls themselves 'ballsinyourmouth' must inhabit darkened rooms masturbating furiously over images of hairy chugs dangling in the air.
These nations have progressed throught this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage."

oh,and 1 more thing,muslim,paki,terorism,islam,......not british.so not really an infringement of british freedom is it davis.its just you giving more credit to the filthy muslim hate on our BRITISH nation.u cunt.
next hell be spitting his dummy out over abortion limits, then saying there are too many single dole scrounging ugly slut single dog like sponging pig teenage mums.what a cunt this guy is!at least in a decade, ill be 34,hell be dead!get in!
call me a simpleton.but hes no better than a fucking terrorist himself.bet his kids wernt in the towers,or on the madrid trains.keep the bastards as long as it takes to fry their brains.quit coz he didnt get his way.
Exactly. We have been saying this for months and years. Where have YOU been! Dearie me! You woke up a little TOO late. You will now be a) riduculed then b ) vilified.
Davis is insignicant. 'New Labour' have been dreadful. The coming (you can be fairly sure) Conservative governement will be the worst ever. Every one of them a know-it-all : just do the courageous thing and back off from America. Otherwise, this country is lost. And learn some philosophy if you're going to rule the country. It's no wonder that no-one respects authority : authority figures set such a dubious example. If you were John Major would you have shagged another woman ? And her taste !
Everybody has at least some notion that their 'rights' are being eroded : unaffordable housing, can't smoke in pubs, energy prices going up, food prices going up, can't call a spade a spade (even in good humour), mustn't show an allegiance to any religion .. and many more ! People are just so SLOW though : it starts and everyone only seems to realise about 4 yrs later. The worst thing about our society, though, is violence. Americanist teachings are responsible for this. The UK is US's puppet.
The death penanlty is self-defeating because there is always a mistake sooner of later. No death penalty also allows for a more humane society.
But i don't like the other extreme where many criminals are released early, etc. Prisons should also be reformed to prevent crimes from taking place there. They don't have to be places of cruelty and victimisation. They just need to be spartan.
BTW - even Churchill restored Habeas Corpus after the war.
The death penalty is, basically, against every religion or philosophy that ever existed, and it's also intuitively repugnant. Intuition is never a reason, granted, but reason also has no 'reason' (ground). We are born, we live (bewildered), we die ... we never get given a 'reason' and we would be stupid if we thought that a 'reason' could be given for reason itself, because that would obviously leave us with the same problem - 'how come reason, how come anything ?' A never irrelevant problem.
I'm surprised it was a conservative who spoke up about this. Churchill prevented Britain from joining up with Germany when it offered some kind of pact and he was conservative.
But David Cameron doesn't care about rights issues. So, i'm not voting for him, nor Labour.
Brown was good with the treasury because he overtaxed british tourism - now i really dislike him.
Emma Goldman thought that the average European government was 'fascism in disguise'.
But does anyone get it ? The bloke seems to be doing a noble thing and yet ... HE BELIEVES IN THE DEATH PENALTY ! This is the ultimate 'civil liberty' (i.e. the right not to be judged or convicted by a society which you didn't even choose to live in or be judged by). How can anyone be so awful ? How arrogant can a man get ? I agree with just about everything he says, but his belief in the death penalty reveals him as an ordinary Americanophile : so expect more crime if he's ever charge.
It's about time that a politician has come out and said something about this important matter.
The British Public have become ignorant regarding these issues and i don't think that they understand the significance of tampering with our rights. Many people don't notice the 'erosion of democratic rights'. They won't complain now, but they will in the future!
So, they won't know how to vote on this matter - they really need to be educated, otherwise democracy doesn't work.
He believes in the DEATH PENALTY : this will pervade the whole of his thinking : Americanized thinking, just like the rest of our politicians. England is dead.
Get out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Review your foreign policy. Give up personal wealth as a goal, at least for the sake of the world if not in your heart. Learn the wisdom of the great philosphies of the world, starting with the philosophy of Martin Heidegger. Stop being so mean-spirited and help to save the earth and mankind. These are the first steps that our politicians need to make, and urgently.
Well said, chering123. I hate New Labour but this guy's utterly obnoxious. Excessive CCTV cameras are the sign of a paranoid society. How can any supposedly forward thinking politician believe that increasing security equals increasing freedom ? The answer is simple : to unite with Germany, France, Russia and the rest AGAINST America, NOT to cravenly side with them for expediency's sake. What ever happened to people's judgment ? Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown ... unbelievable rubbish !
See it goes to show even members of parlorment are clearly not happy with dicisions made. and him leaving may send a clear message to members of parlorment that its wrong. they are making our country into a police state, our freedoms are being tighten. wake up everyone.
The bloke's an idiot : he believes in the death penalty. He loves to think that he's steeped in historical knowledge but he confuses everything. Fighting for indivdual liberty AND for the death penalty constitutes the most flagrant contradiction possible. Why do all our politicians kowtow to America ? Knife crime, abortion, teenage pregnancy, drug and alcohol addiction, mental illness : these are the legacies of our leaders. This is not even worthy news : a non-Americanist politician is needed !
The death penalty has little to do with liberty. Liberty is not limited solely to, but is primarily concerned, with the ordinary law-abiding citizen. 42 days etc violates this. Being an advocate of the death penalty does not contradict personal liberty. Liberty is freedom. The death penalty in democracy is punishment, in an authoritarian government THEN it is a contradiction of liberty. But Davis is a democrat, not an authoritarian, meaning he is not contradicted.
The death penalty is based on the idea of social responsiblity, which is itself based on a Greek idea of the togetherness (logos) and reciprocal responsibilty of all beings (not just human) towards each other. This later became a Christian idea, but what really matters is that it was never anyone's 'right' : no-one in the history of the universe ever had any 'cosmically determined' rights. Politicians, as leaders, have a duty to defend people, NOT to attack them. 'Liberty' is a later idea.
You know your history well but it doesn't answer my point about the contradiction.
I'd ask you to consider that by saying that the death penalty contradicts liberty, that says that a nation with an otherwise liberal democracy is certainly more free than one without the death penalty.
But liberty is also contingent on: freedom of speech/opinion, rule of law, constitutional legitimacy etc
For all your dislike of Davis, would you not put aside the differences given that nobody else in government has yet taken such a resolute stand against this erosion?
I've had to do this with activism before, work with detestable people but if you co-operate on just one issue and look at the end result, it is not always a concession.
Eg Nick Clegg not fielding an opponent in the by-election "politicians need to sometimes set aside narrow party political advantage"
Belief in the death penalty is not just 'one issue' for me - it's crucial ; if you want society to have the atmosphere of a prison then believe in the death penalty. The blow isn't softened by making libertarian concessions in smaller matters. My viewpoint is philosophical rather than political : for me the politician is a monster who appropriates the right to judge others, and does so in the name of 'justice'. That is a very serious assumption and one which life will not take lightly -
'Don't murder people and you'll be fine' is contradicted by the death penalty. Killing someone in the name of 'justice' or 'the law' is an atrocity. It's the sign of a self-righteous, inhuman mentality which still afflicts most people in this country. It's a hangman's idea of justice.
It is not contradicted. That is killing, Murder is murder. If you don't want to get murdered what can you do? Not a lot. If you don't want to be executed what do you do? Play by the rules and don't kill people. Simple and fair. BTW. I am not pro death penalty. However if I thought for a second it would reduce the murder rate it would be immoral not to support it. The death of a murderer is nothing when compared to the potential loss of a future innocent. Explain the contradiction then.
Murder is murder : especially when a man takes a life in the name of the state. Two rights don't make a wrong - 'Enmity is a not ended by enmity'. Justice is not achieved by retribution. No man is God. We all die one day : evil is begotten by man's not being able to admit this to himself and perpetuated by the basic psychological assumption of the political animal (Aristotle's blunder !) : that he may fairly judge his fellow man. Davis makes this assumption.
'Murder is murder'? What about self-defense? Besides, I was not talking about justice through retribution I was talking about prevention through deterent. If that argument is provede then it is immoral not to support the death penalty. Tantamount to murder.
A state which has full control of the courts and the death sentance is not to be seen as a trustworthy ally. Do you really want the Yanks to liberate the UK after an authoritarian system takes over, cmon get real.
David Davies is a hero!!! A man that has the balls to fight for the freedoms that other people have died for. Bear in mind that it's easy for him to keep quiet and continue earning great money, instead he resigned for the preservation of freedom! Well done David Davies! Thank you for your courage.

Forty-two days went to a crashing defeat in the lords yesterday, thank god and is off the books.
However, this is just the beginning of our struggle to win back true respect for our ancient liberties.
Labour are still threatening to revive this disgusting bill in the event of a terrorist attack so don't lets be too complacent yet.

You think the elites told David Davis to oppose ID cards and the abolishion of habeas corpus? LOL. How would that help them?
ballsinyourmouth5000 3 years ago
I think all this does is to make David Davis look foolish.
This doesn't prove that people are rebelling aganist days in prison, it just shows they want someone vaguely sane rather than someone in fancy dress!
He claims it shows his constiuency is aginst the bill, but that isn't what they were voting about! He'd just putting words in people's mouths....typical politician!!!
He ruined his career...and for WHAT?
kingkingkingqueen 3 years ago
The reason he was only up against people in fancy dress was because Labour didn't run because they would have lost disastrously, and UKIP didn't run because they agree with him. Just more sneaky, but unsuccessful tactics by the government.
ballsinyourmouth5000 3 years ago
Anyway, your pal ballsinmouth reckons that 90%of the population agree with you, thats around 55 million people, so really you have nothing to worry about. However, I'd be surprised if 9% actually gave a shit and probably had more immediate things to worry about.
Anyway, keep up the good work brothers and I'm off to give my jack boots a good polishing and read mein kampf on the toilet.

Imagine arguing with a child about the existance of Father Christmas, thats how I feel arguing with you.
ballsinyourmouth5000 3 years ago
Stats plucked out of mid-air again. Where does 'the vast majority' come from? If this is the case then you have nothing to worry about then do you. Who's a sheep now then?
I'm sure a by-election costs more than £30k, and in any case I'm sure there is a cancer patient in his constituency that could do with it. It's economies of scale. I just think he should pay for it himself, or maybe you and your 10 most loaded mates should instead. I'm sure we've spent enough on Northern Rock etc.

Actually I do think that we are being bred to be over-paranoid about 'the war on terror' and it is all for the most cynical reasons, but this doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
dvbjag 3 years ago
Wow, easy this bullshit malarky isn't it?
dvbjag 3 years ago
Lets be realistic here £30k is pennies to the tax payer. It works out to be less than a tenth of a penny per tax payer. An absolute bargin to let the people decide if they want all their basic freedoms taken away. I obviously don't know the exact percentage but I know it's the vast majority. If you get all your opinions from information in the news then I could see why you would think otherwise.
ballsinyourmouth5000 3 years ago
Whats your address? I'll gladly send you a penny. It will more than cover the tax expenses for you and your 10 most stingy mates.
ballsinyourmouth5000 3 years ago
Wow, what a drama queen! I'm shaking in my boots, well I would do if I had something to hide. Most of Europe already have an ID system and they seem OK. I can't see Gordon Brown putting on some jack boots and goose stepping out of number 10 anytime soon. Also read your history, we didn't go to war (ww2 or any) for the reasons you've suggested, they were far more cynical than that. Wishful thinking in lala land I think.
dvbjag 3 years ago
A British hero! Many don't oppose this bill because they think it's only against terrorists, it's against YOU. Wake up sheeple! 'Papers please - may I see your papers'. When the BBC try and ridicule this they just alienate themselves further from the public. Even to people who didn't realise before, this episode has made it blatantly obvious that the BBC couldn't care less about the public and only have the governments interests at heart.

Not one single news or political commentator the BBC have had on has considered his decision is principled and for protecting of all our civil liberties. The USA is guilty of dreadful crimes against humanity, all carried out long before '9/11' and in the most surreptitious way. The idea of the 'New American Century' has hardly been hushed up by the arrogant Americans. It's this project that we need to divorce ourselves from. All other matters are trivial : Davis wasn't going to be the leader anyway but his Americanized thinking is typical of British politicians, and it's no more clearly manifest than in his stance on the death penalty.
zarakhast 3 years ago
Fantastic speech. I'd given up for the politics of the Conservatives (I'm a Conservative in terms of philosophy, but never thought Cameron was) but the more they speak out like this the better I like them. Someone should do this and stay in the party to stop the anti-libertarians in both parties.
filmzo 3 years ago
We need a totally different type of politician : one who reads his history differently and more honestly. Out with Darwin and Mill and their hangers-on and in with, above all, Martin Heidegger. A more honest and serious attitude towards death is needed and a far profounder view of the human being's place within the whole. Our entire view of human freedom (honestly held in most cases, I don't doubt) needs to be placed in philosophical question. There will be no end to terrorism otherwise.
zarakhast 3 years ago
Call it religiosity or a superstitious fear but it worries me that someone can, apparently unthinkingly, so quickly in his career come to such a hellish mindset as to believe in the death penalty in the name of 'justice'. I couldn't care less whatever Mr.Davis might think about anything else : his libertarian stance on other things is no better than stroking a dead body and giving it a cup of tea after he's already murdered it. England needs to break the 'special relationship' with the US

AlonsoLegend 3 years ago
The death penalty is based on the idea of social responsiblity, which is itself based on a Greek idea of the togetherness (logos) and reciprocal responsibilty of all beings (not just human) towards each other. This later became a Christian idea, but what really matters is that it was never anyone's 'right' : no-one in the history of the universe ever had any 'cosmically determined' rights. Politicians, as leaders, have a duty to defend people, NOT to attack them. 'Liberty' is a later idea.
zarakhast 3 years ago

That is a very serious assumption and one which life will not take lightly -
zarakhast 3 years ago
We had the death penalty until 50 years ago. This country didn't feel like a prison. The point is don't murder people and you'll be fine.
OneBigRetard 3 years ago
'Don't murder people and you'll be fine' is contradicted by the death penalty. Killing someone in the name of 'justice' or 'the law' is an atrocity. It's the sign of a self-righteous, inhuman mentality which still afflicts most people in this country. It's a hangman's idea of justice.
zarakhast 3 years ago
It is not contradicted. That is killing, Murder is murder. If you don't want to get murdered what can you do? Not a lot. If you don't want to be executed what do you do? Play by the rules and don't kill people. Simple and fair. BTW. I am not pro death penalty. However if I thought for a second it would reduce the murder rate it would be immoral not to support it. The death of a murderer is nothing when compared to the potential loss of a future innocent. Explain the contradiction then.
OneBigRetard 3 years ago
Murder is murder : especially when a man takes a life in the name of the state. Two rights don't make a wrong - 'Enmity is a not ended by enmity'. Justice is not achieved by retribution. No man is God. We all die one day : evil is begotten by man's not being able to admit this to himself and perpetuated by the basic psychological assumption of the political animal (Aristotle's blunder !) : that he may fairly judge his fellow man. Davis makes this assumption.
zarakhast 3 years ago
'Murder is murder'? What about self-defense? Besides, I was not talking about justice through retribution I was talking about prevention through deterent. If that argument is provede then it is immoral not to support the death penalty. Tantamount to murder.
OneBigRetard 3 years ago
A state which has full control of the courts and the death sentance is not to be seen as a trustworthy ally. Do you really want the Yanks to liberate the UK after an authoritarian system takes over, cmon get real.

David Davies is a hero!!! A man that has the balls to fight for the freedoms that other people have died for. Bear in mind that it's easy for him to keep quiet and continue earning great money, instead he resigned for the preservation of freedom! Well done David Davies! Thank you for your courage.
