  • Barry definitely write the songs that makes the whole world sing. TRUE!!!!

  • Simply beautiful.

  • I <3 this song ^-^ very nice video.

  • just awesome!!!

  • GENIAL TRUMPET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Barry Manilow is a world class act! Love him before and still love him 20 years after!

  • His best song IMO and he had many.

  • True life magic. There really is magic in the world when this man sings.

  • music writes the songs?

  • one of the best! :-)

  • You're great Barry you're the male version of Barbra Streisand!!!!!

  • Brilliant Barry,my husband sang this song in a talent contest as its one of his all time favorites. Please take a look i think he did you proud Barry, what do you think ????????????????????? Keith harvey park resorts final 2011

  • The irony is,the didn't actually wrote the song :3

  • @StonedDimitri indeed, it was written by Bruce Johnston, as a hommage to Brian Wilson

  • It does not come better than this, Fantastic!

  • gr8

  • Una de las canciones más linda que existe

  • Musicians are taken over by their personal demons during their performances. Oops put the blinders back on, I didn't mean to wake you up!

  • "I write the songs that makes the whole world sing." Who is I? Hmmmmm and it even brags that "it" wrote the first song.

  • @onejanedoe2003 You're missing the whole point of the song, Barry really was against recording this song because he thought that he'd be regarded as big headed, he says that music writes the songs, I need to read ''Sweet Life'' again as i'm rusty, lol. OK someone else will explain, hopefully but I promise that Barry is not being egotistical when he sings I Write The Songs.

  • @MagicalTaste Mate you haven't a clue, have you? I'm not being insulting just saying it how it is, this song is dedicated to and about Satan (the spirit(angel) of music) It's what he was originally created by God to do, Praise God with music!

  • @kryckeestrooff yes makes sense

  • @onejanedoe2003 Disgusting isn't it! And so many people are too blinded to see who it is!

  • @onejanedoe2003 Notice at the beginning Barry looked up in disgust, he knows exactly what it's about, and originally refused to record this song, but CONTRACTS can be binding!

  • Listen carefully to the words!

  • Wow, what a beautiful man he was back then...

  • True singer-songwriter, musician, arranger, producer, conductor.

  • I understand perfectly what charlesHBKWWE is trying to tell us even if he mislabel this song as "classical". So I'm going to click 'like'.

  • @charlesHBKWWE OK. When ppl refer to "CLASSICAL MUSIC"....they are NOT talking about this era's type of music. Classical music is the era of BEETHOVEN, CHOPIN, SCHUBERT, LISZT et al. This type of music is referred to as Easy Listening or more to your generation...this would be ancient EMO.

  • saw him in concert many yrs ago. Was definetly worth it!! Great show. Been a lifelong fan.

  • I am a 47 year old male and love him coz hes a showman.

    His songs arouse my emotions.

I loved 80s music and humour then it all stopped.

  • To all the young guys out there....when i was young i never understood how a guy could sing this crap and keep a straight face. Now that I'm 46, my advice for all the young guys...if you REALLY want to get the booty...forget the death metal or rap and sing this type of sugar crap love ballads. Women eat this stuff up it seems. If i could turn back time...I would have sung more Barry Manilow tunes.

  • ohhh Barry and I go way back...one of my best memories is listening to him with my Dad in the car as a teen (back in the '70's)

  • Frank and Dean and anyone else I might have missed ...and there are a lot.. This man could rip ya heart out ..

  • nobody sing better than you dear.. miss the way you sing this song...

  • Just the other who share their experiences about music. I bought also CD of Barry Manilow from Manila, until now i have it with me eventhough i listened to YT.

  • @charlesHBKWWE The industry, communications, and the world today are completely different. Because communications were limited, much fewer artists got to the top. As result, choice was also limited, so greater numbers of people gravitated to each particular artist. Today, with the speed of communications and advancement of technology, people have almost too many choices, and are hit so constantly with new information/music, that things just move much faster.

  • beautiful song

  • @XChristianNoirX I haven't a clue as to what your babbling about, music is to enjoy simple as that.

  • 22 years ago when i bought my very first casette tape it was a Barry Manilow ablum. it was a 2 casette album and a compilation of his greatest hits... til now i still have it with me, ill pass it to my kids and believe me they do love singing his songs..!

  • Thanks for supporting Ron Paul, Barry! :)

  • Only once I hear this song!!! I repeat it many many times!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful!

  • I was all of 13 years old when I got my first cassette player. With that purchase, I thumbed through the cassettes and picked this "unknown" (to me) singer. The album was "One Voice". The voice was Barry Manilow. He's been a favorite of mine very since.

I'm now 45. Listening to a mix of his I've burned off my old CD's tonight, I decided I'd love to see a live performance of this song. It. Was. Great.

Thank you, MagicalTaste, for uploading this. And thank you, Barry, for your gift to us. xo

  • too bad he is a flaming liberal.

  • @webmail111 He is voting GOP next election. He voiced support for Ron Paul, a very right-wing libertarian.

  • It doesnt wonder me at all that the track made it to the top. He sure did write the song and made many people listen. Thanks for posting such great music also in a such good quality.

  • coolps i used to have a pink panther record that had barry manlaa songs on it even this song cool its called panther on the powl ps my parens darlene and mrashell page clow songs and other cool songs combinedould not find petes dragon record i wanted and instead bought me pantheron the prwl pink panther record cool songs barry manal

  • real music EPIC !!!

  • I would never take from you barry <3

  • Soo good.

  • This was one of the few Barry Manilow songs that he DIDN'T write....isn't that ironic?

  • The modulation really makes this song work. It might be unbearably cheesy and earnest otherwise, but it really shows some damn fine song-craft. I am officially jealous of Bruce Johnston.

  • No matter who you are, it reminds you of a better time, doesn't it? Timeless.

  • @phelplitz I couldn't agree more; life's crap nowadays. Even nostalgia's not what it used to be.

  • @phelplitz perfect

  • i love manilow..i hate bruno mars ihate all of the new songz unless they are gospel or manilow......okay i like some different genres but you have to agree that manilow is the best!!!

  • @kiadarlin1 Songz.... Nuff said.

  • I am old if this is considered a classic, lol

  • This song and its meaning has Barry Manilow all over it.

  • @Zeratul723. Manilow's main talent, besides being the consummate showman, is arranging. As LCWynter and I both thought Willie wrote this song, it wasn't him either, it was, in fact, Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys. I probably knew that but forgot somehow. If you look up the facts, Manilow bought the songs he made famous. Looking up the facts right now, it says that during the 70's (I was there) he would have 5 best selling albums at any given time! Yeah, and I owned all of them. :)

  • There is an interview on YT between Joan Rivers and Barry, and he says that he fought against doing the song because he thought it was cheesy too, until he really understood the lyrics. In other words, it isn't HIM singing, it is MUSIC singing, not just a piano or violin or guitar, but music itself. Kind of neat when you think about it, no? :)

  • @MoodyMcDougal Couldn't have put it better myself. Thanks.

  • love. love. love.

  • THIS GUY!!! IS THE SEASON WHY VIC MIGNOGNA can play the piano and write songs if u dunno who vic is search him up his good at singing.. =3=

  • "I write the songs that make the young girls cry"

They can't be very good then.

  • @LCWynter I do believe, but not 100% sure....that Willie Nelson wrote this for Barry. And Barry was young when I was young. And yeah, his songs did make the young girls cry. Barry Manilow is an anomaly, as is Neil Sedaka...although Neil's vibrato is much superior. Barry Manilow is the ultimate showman. Sorry if you don't agree, but if you don't, you are not listening to professionals. He is, and has always been, a musician's musician. He's damn good.

  • @MoodyMcDougal

Yeah, Willie wrote this. And to be honest, I've got nothing against Barry. He's got his own style and some alright songs, but this one is just bad. The concept is really cheesy, and when you look at some of the lyrics (I am music and I write the songs) they barely make sense. But yeah, it's alright.

  • @Mafical Taste FYI Bruce Johnston is not a former Beach Boy, he is still with them!! I just saw him and the Beach Boys two weeks ago and they are still rocking! They didn't play "I wrote the songs" though....they were not allowed to.

  • He writes the songs that fags fuk to

  • @dellgriff82 at least learn to spell right idiot!

  • @yukons95 Your the idiot, check again you fag, then you will see im right.and if you still don't understand,do some research or go to school.

  • @dellgriff82 actually i was pulling this song up for a female friend when i saw your stupid mispelled word! you must be a faggot if you actually know what they screw to! Just because you are pissed off because your male lover left you! Don't be upset precious! Or did he call you "baby doll!"

  • @yukons95 Your female friend doesn't happen to have a penis does she?You homo.........

  • @dellgriff82 No sunshine but if you need one let me know??

  • @yukons95 wow,who is homo now?your gay,I Win.......

  • @dellgriff82 i love a woman who fights back!!

  • que sueño hecho cancion es muy hermoza si es con la voz de barry manilow

  • SKINS Cook !

  • Good Lord! Manilow is so awesome....has the voice of an angel...

  • love you so much Barry......

  • xalliebee - sure your dad's a great guy but don't be surprised if he listens to Manilow when no one's around. I used to be that way. Oh yeah, and if you like him, no one elses opinion matters anyway.

  • That was filmed in Birmingham, UK. I was there :-)

  • A Classic Performer back in the day, barry wrote the Songs

  • Which concert is he playing?

  • A song that make my Tears fell down :(

  • im 14, barry manilow amazes me! his voice is the spirit of music, he does write the songs

  • my dad hates him. i dont understand how!!

  • @xalliebee Your dad needs to smoke som more weed! Peace mon:)

  • finally found this song ... <3

  • amazing voice.

  • @charlesHBKWWE

This isn't "classical" music... that's the likes of Beethoven and Strauss and Vivaldi. This is "classic pop" or just "classic" or whatever.

  • @Zeratul723 um it's still has the word classic on it whats the difference? lol you just took off three letters but you get the point

  • I am absolutely baffled how ANYONE could listen to this song and watch this consummate performer and "DISLIKE" it.

This is talent that appears not to exist in the sub age 50 performers at this point.

  • saw him live earlier this year and he still sounds great!

  • Bruce Johnston, who wrote this song, is STILL one of the BeachBoys (not former)

  • I watched the video of him performing this much younger - his voice actually improved with age. I love this song.

  • Yummy, girls!

  • I love Manilow....I'm a straight dude. I'm also a serial womanizer....and playing old Manilow makes ALL American women...regardless of age....well you know, girls. Yummy.

  • He Looks Like Our Friend Who Was: Chris Reeves...Tha'd Be The Kingdom of Heaven to help people in need with that sort of miraculous healing..The Sun of Righteousness with Healing in our Wings! cool!!

  • love bruce johnston's songwriting

  • løl_ì_fÊÉl_sÒ_lóNÊlY_tOdåy

  • It was written about Brian Wilson, the often background and mentally troubled member of the group who actually wrote about 80% of the songs and almost 100% of the real top 10 hits.

  • @majhiggins I don't know if mentally troubled is the right term for brain fried from too many controlled substances.

  • This song VERY MATCH with late John Lennon... at first glance, when you listening the first note, I thought John Lennon sang this song...unfortunately, it's not. It's Barry Manilow... but still OK... RIP John Lennon...

  • @joelabi80 Sounds nothing like John Lennon...and Barry Manilow is better.

  • @wwerulestna 85000 views and 2 people agree with you...yep

  • @joelabi80 should have gone to specsavers.

  • 3 people claim that they wrote this song

  • yeah, very hard to find such talent who can sing to the heart every listener, nice lyrics/message, perfect melody, awesome performance hits the very soul...

  • AWESOME!!

  • ganda

  • I ADMIRE YOU TO THE SOUL

  • ich kenne es von vielen :Thats the best

  • Hail fans of Two and a half men!

    Btw nice piece of music;)

  • What a lovely sweet song.... :-)

  • i am music

    and i write the song..

  • lol the beginning. There's a woman with a sign that says "your'e". There's no way it was an accident, having been drawn that big.

  • @UltraGnash I gess your'e poynt iz thatt shee cant' spel.

  • No one sang along with him because they were all mesmerized by his soulful performance. You can hardly get these type of singers nowadays.=)

Prepare your ears for sci-fi songs like Star Wars in the near future, cause its gonna bleed. =X

  • WHAT WE GOT HERE IS A failure to communicate.. therefore.. it time to do re-write- where's my eraser? I got it- We make Jaeson another kind of heir- the supernatural king- WE MAKE HIM KING CYRUS THE SECOND- SEE PROBLEM SOLVED- IT AINT NOTHIN- JUST NEED A SUPERNATURAL ERASER..

  • blessed

  • se me cae un lagrimón!!

  • amzing song, amazing Band...!

  • Billboard's #13 song of '76. Barry hit #1 pop, and, AC in Billboard. God bless!

  • Bruce Johnston is STILL with the Beach Boys

  • 0 people don't write the songs!

What? that dosn't even make sense.

  • Let me get this straight. Barry DIDN'T write this song?

  • It's the magic of instant email notification. :P Alan is a leech. Figuratively speaking of course. It's a great anti-masculinity-example. :D

  • This is Barry Manilow at his very best.

  • In what sense is Bruce a FORMER Beach Boy?

  • Lovely to see this live performance of one of Barry's most representative songs! Thanks for posting. He is such a great live performer. He has that magic.

  • That is magic!!!

  • two and a half man ^^

  • @rudeEMOboi lol I was just watching episode 10 from season 2 and heard that song. XD

  • @rbaleksandar one of the best episodes ^^

  • @rudeEMOboi :P Don't know. I kind of like all of them. Not one weak episode in all the seasons. ^^

  • @rbaleksandar are you always online? ^^

yeah i dont like the episodes, where alan always cries so much.. or talks to much.. in short when he has much appearance.

  • hermoso!!!!!!!!!!! que recuerdos de los setentas, en esta época con tantos talentos musicales dios echó toda la carne al azador.............

  • hermoso!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want to dedicate this song to my son ^Greg^ April 2, 1969 - July 16, 1988. He LOVED this song and all music. He wanted to be a Music and Math Teacher....could sing and play any musical instrument he touched. He loved the piano and trumpet.

    Love and Miss You ^Greg^

  • I guess this was 1993 at Wembley then, lol.

  • @marianmanilow - oh thanks, I was stretching my memory trying to imagine them (BB) singing it. I'm developing a real appreciation of this man. thanks:)

  • I always thought Barry wrote this- it really is HIS song. I was a Beach Boys fan -somehow I'm having trouble remembering them singing it. Nice-- he looks great. Is this an outside concert? really nice- thanks so much.

  • @lenoremewton interestingly, Bruce wrote this in tribute to Brian Wilson....listen again with the Great Man in mind....makes sense now?

  • @dirkbrad - if I think about Brian Wilson- i can see it. thanks for offering the info. and perspective.

  • @dirkbrad thats funny. Because Bruce Johnston said he wrote it after a night of drinking to make fun of the arrogant music producers who thought themselves better than anyone else....hey..maybe he did write it about brian wilson LOL

  • @SamUnfiltered2010 as with much Beach Boy related mythology, we may never know!!!

  • @dirkbrad I read an article once that said the very same thing. Easy to see once you know it. I think Bruce was always in awe of Brian's uncanny abilities. We all are. :-)
