Have I mentioned to you that I absolutely love this? Because I do. Thanks for entertaining my younger self. You make a teenager very happy to reflect back on his youth.
The voice of Frog was done by Will Ryan; a very talented V.O. artist. Toad was done by Hal Smith who is best known for being Otis on the old Andy Griffith Show. Hal was a sweet soul. J.C.M.
My son read this story to me yesterday while driving to the car, he is just nine but enjoyed it.. the funny thing is that I did image the voices like this video.. he has never seen this video but he just played each role during the reading..
Yes, I knew Arnold Lobel. He was a funny guy; sometimes a little grumpy. No, I mean sometimes very grumpy. For instance, I once asked him why he never gave his characters names. There was a pause while his furnace heated up. Then he exploded: "Yeah, sure! Frank the Frog! Tom the Toad! Sid the Snail! (ect!)" I felt like a small bug with a tiny brain. But mostly he was a sweet guy - if you didn't ask too many questions.
I used to watch this show on a local PBS station growing up. What a trip to find it on the wonder that is youtube. Thanks for the good memories J.C. Matthews.
@JohnClarkMatthews Did you ever get to meet Arnold Lobel? His books were one of my favs as a child. I love the claymation of Frog and Toad. After seeing this I went to my parents and dug it out so I could show my son.

I have a read-a-long tape of all the Frog and Toad books, told by Arnold Lobel. I've listened to it dozens of times!

The author, Arnold Lobel, was gay, so I imagine that Frog and Toad were more than just friends. Who cares anyhow!
