I want to know if you suck on hard candy or chew gum after you take the 1-131 pill. there's a lot of different opinion that I read on the internet saying that you should chew gum or hard candy to help minimize salivary gland damage. Other site are saying not to as it will damage the salivary gland. I'm not really sure what to follow and I'm so confused. Maybe you can share to me that you did as my RAI treatment will be two weeks from now. By the way, what was the dosage of your 1-131 pill.

I noticed a knot in my neck a few months ago, & I was told it was prob swollen glands. I dismissed it. Yesterday I had a thyroid screening done, & they saw a 3 to 4 cm mass on my thyroid, & told me that it should be biopsied. I really don't know much other than that. I was wondering how big was the nodule you had, & what were your symptoms? Was it a solid mass that you could feel on the outside of your neck?

If you are taking thyroid hormone, make sure you have no problem with T4 to T3 coversion.
