  • my dad and his best mate owned this dog before he died...and i totally agree he was definatley the fastest dog to run here...we own some of his sons out of like the first litters born to him and they were bloody fast aswell...Brett Lee died due to running into a fence and like snapping his neck...he will forever be in our memories love you boy <3 xx

  • google it, mate. i think you'll find the answer almost immediately regarding his passing. either that or sky racing and the entire greyhound racing industry have organised some sort of elaborate hoax.

  • I adopted my greyhound 1 and a half years ago.Brett Lee is my greyhounds grandfather. I swear he looks exactly like him! xD xD xD

  • I was just playing with a litter of Brett Lee's pups yesterday.. stunning black pups with white specks.

  • @amandapleasesp hey do you have the pups and if you are selling them how much for??

  • What is the dogs max speed? That is extremely fast!

  • I'll bet on that leader running backwards and taunting the others.

  • If he were a pitbull dog the spca, peta, and the law would kill him. they have murdered some of the finest bulldogs in the world.

  • cool race dog like big daddy cool

  • looks like a dog nascar...they move so damn fast!!

  • A great dog for Oz but we had one here in Scotland called Ravage Again which was a bullet from the boxes and came within 1 race of breaking the great Ballyregan Bobs world record of consecutive wins.

  • @getarslim Ravage Again was a flying machine over the sprint trip. He was not a bullet from the boxes however, he didn't break any faster than the rest but his early pace was awesome.

  • RIP Brett Lee. Without you we would never have met our handsome dog Kandy King.

  • @fogitup20 wtf he isnt dead.

  • Brett Lee near end

    13 August, 2010.

LEGEND greyhound Brett Lee is nearing the end of his life.

Pedrana said he would speak to a taxidermist early next week to have the dog preserved for all time.

Once that was completed, he would be forced into his "hardest decision ever" and Brett Lee will be humanely put down.

    Brett Lee the Greatest !!

  • is he still racing?where is the dog now??is he enjoying a wel earnt retirement??

  • I am lucky to have one of Brett Lee's grand sons, Trip and Fall.

He is a very good dog to have.

  • I am lucky to have one of Brett Lee's sons. If father is anything like son... He must be a character. My boy is very tall and broad I wonder if Brett Lee is the same and my best friend has one of Brett's granddaughters.

  • When i got my retired greyhound i looked through his profile and he frequently got under 29 seconds in his prime.

  • @tommart123 Under 29 seconds but what was the distance? I'd bet it was shorter than the 515m/563yds that 28.88 was over. The 28.88 track record still stands and any time under 30 seconds is still very very good for 515.

  • @LiamE69 480m, he did some on 515 got around 30 seconds.

  • @tommart123 Yeah thats about what the better of my two greyhounds did over 480. 28.88 over 515 equates to 480 time under 27 seconds. That is REALLY fast.

Have you looked your dog up on greyhound-data com? Mine's best over 480 was 28.84 which means on my dogs best day Brett Lee would have beaten him by 35 metres. Over 515 its 30.4 which would put him 1.5 seconds behind, about 25 metres.

What was your dog's race name? Mine was gunner gary if you want to look him up.

  • He looks like a great greyhound, but it's highly unlikely that he's the fastest dog ever to grace the earth. If he could beat Westmead Hawk in a 2 dog race over 500 metres I would be impressed. If he could beat Ballyregan Bob in a match over 600 metres, I'd be even more impressed. But the greatest dog ever to grace the earth is called Scurlogue champ.

  • Speed is such a beautiful thing

  • Brett lee the dog ...he plays cricket too

  • wow fast dog he has there if he can beat that thing that makes them want to run then he will be "the fastest dog to ever grace the earth" lol

  • I think Brett Lee ( 3 Group 1's, $403 106, 31 wins from 39) and Whisky Assassin (1 Group 1, $266 140, 27 wins from 44) were both legendary greyhounds. Whisky was a crack one bend speed tracker. I think on the evidence, Whisky would have predominantly won up to 450m-ish on these tracks. Further and on a full track I would definitely favour Brett Lee. The 28.88 in a Group 1 final is phenomenal, I don't think any Aussie greyhound would have beaten him that night.

  • el galo will take the record soon as highest ever winning stakes 5hundredgrand+ el galo is a champion aswell.. both dogs are champions

  • Whiskey Assassin is the best dog ever in Australian Gryhound History!

  • Hi!I'm a girl from China love greyhuand very much, and be very intersted in greyhound racing. But at present I almost hardly konw any knoweledge about greyhound,so could we make friends with each other, and can you teach me some information about greyhound,I will be of great appreciated.

  • hahahahahaha

  • yeah that is true , he was a great racer

  • Whisky Assassin had a long final campaign; he had 20 starts for I think 17 wins, including a bad injury in the Melbourne cup. He was flawless and only bad boxes beat him - drawing 8 at the Meadows put him off the track badly checked again. Basically he won every race even those where plenty thought he couldn't

  • Brett Lee may be not the better in the track, but he is a myth, and i love the myths...

  • how many of brett lees track records have big daddycool and whiskey assassin beat?have they never ran at angle park?brettlee looks far quicker to me

  • Whisky *NO E* broke many of Brett Lee's records. He set fast records at Shepparton Ballarat Sandown

When I thought he might lose from box 1 with dogs crowded around he made himself room. He then hurdled a fallen greyhound and flew home to still win easily - this was the big race at Bulli

Ballarat was phenomenal in a CRACK field he came from behind and pushed wide to win in what looked like an impossible dive.

Horsham he was crowded for room and turned for home miles from the lead. Won easily

  • yeah whisky assassin was quicker to if he could come out of the box quicker he would of broke very track record and whisky went 29.40 at sandown not angle park

  • omg so do i i have a grandaughter from almighty lee x whiskey assasin

  • great dog every greyhound racer owner or who likes bettin watch out for chances assasin ok

  • Well...I'm not Australian. If we can forgive me for that...I raced half/greyhound sled dogs for many years, and I've watched a lot of dogs gait. I have to say that Big Daddy Cool is the smoothest, fastest, quickest accellerating dog I have ever seen. All due respect to many other dogs....If I was to breed another Greyhound litter, He'd be it. The other ones seem to only run fast enough to win. BDC runs to go fast. Which he did.

  • not the fastest whisky assasin was heaps better

  • uk and irish greyhounds will never be up to the aussie standard brett lee is the best dog ever to race and has produced so many

  • uk and irish greyhounds will never be up to the aussie standard brett lee is the best dog ever to race and has produced so many

  • The best dog of all time? I'm not sure how you work that one out, but he certainly has some terrific early pace. If you like staying dogs Check out Ballyregan Bob, and of course, the unbelievable Scurlogue champ.

  • Brett Lee is currently the best dog of all time.He broke the angle park track record for the 515m with a time of 28.88. The best whisky assassin could do was 29.40

  • dang bruce lee.

  • I have Brett Lee's granddaughter! She's only a puppy now but I hope she will be as good as her granddad.

  • Little more than a 1/4 mile... 5/16ths

  • 28.88 over 515 metres

  • wow thats pretty fast. faster than mine at least.

  • long live west mead hawk!

  • not the fastest dog big daddy cool was faster he ran track record at the medows which still stands... 3 years ago and track was off 4-5 lengths and pau to burn ran 29.63 hundredth of a sec off the record and more than six races that day broke 30 secs .brett lees record at angle park would of been smashed by bdc but they hadnt watered the track for three days he ran 29.10 first look..compare distance and times and youll see bdc was quicker over 500 metres

  • For elareh...

  • so this dog was named after a cricketer. my word you aussies are awful.

  • This dog is not the fastest ever, he looks fast yea, but put him against Irish/UK dogs, then you wont see him winning in the way he does in australia!!

  • ive got a brett lee pup "he's a kiwi" watch him in nz hes the next best nz dog of all time hes still young!!!!!

trainers adopt their greyhound if they dont do the times or they get shot! not enough people to adopt them and they dont know how 2 look after them properly!

  • my whippet could cream that thing...

  • hahahaha

  • I'm not targeting individual breeders who take care of their dogs. I'm sure they're out there. I am talking about the greyhound racing industry as a whole. I'm sure there are those individuals that are affiliated with rescue groups when they are 'through' with their hounds. What about those hounds that don't qualify, or lose? Please explain to me why there are so many greys destroyed each year? Enlighten me, please

  • Beautiful dog you have yourself there. And to these other people: Not all people mistreat their dogs and it's obvious Brett Lee is in good health.

  • Interesting. So you are denying that greyhounds are mistreated and abused in the racing industry?

I have seen enough of what happens at the tracks in the U.S., but it's worse in other countries.

I guess The Humane Society of the United States is spewing typical animal extremist garbage as well. Go visit their site among others.

Go educate yourself and stop generalizing.

  • why is brett lee named after a dog?

  • i thought brett lee was an australian fast bowler but what the....

  • Its amazing how he blasts out of the box, beats everyone else to the first turn, and then pulls away.

I hope to see his offspring race in the USA in 1.5 to 2 years.

  • just had some pups from brett lee in the uk.. lets hope he is like his dad

  • have any pics of the pups?

  • People who talk about things they know nothing about, kill more innocent animals than anyone.

  • haha the hound's named after the sexiest hottest person alive.. ;D brett lee!
