...I mean if your gonna get a head and cab rather than the combo - may as well just get a straight regular DSL for less money - it is the EXACT SAME AMP after all!!! I got the combo for a super price - around 25% off the RRP so couldnt let that offer pass me by!

as i said i have a thing for tops and i have lots of cabs. Money is not the main issue, space on the other hand is. I love how the combo sounds but i went for the top. It may be the exact same dsl but imo it sounds different somehow...

It is not the same as the DSL, is it? The 1923 is hand wired, point to point. I tried the combo and was blown away by how awesome it sounded. I got the 4 channel JVM instead, but I still think about this thing

That's correct...it does sound better to me than a ordinary dsl 50...

It's exactly the same as the dsl. It's not handwired, and certainly not point to point. With a few tweaks though, it's a good amp.

I just got the 1923C 2x12 combo and absolutely love it!! But its a DSL50 in a 2x12 combo - theres nothing different at all IMO - and I used to have a DSL50 + 1960AV cab so I know!! Regretted selling that a few years back - but it was to much to cart about and i'd just left my band at the time so let it go...fast forward 5 years and they release it in a combo! Just what I always wanted a DSL50 in a 2x12 combo!! So just had to have one! Dont see the point in paying extra over the DSL50 head though

That's a tough question.

I gotta say both are amazing amps in their own way.

There is no doubt in my mind that i'm gonna buy the VM as well at some point.
