  • my mate dave and his girl liz love this tune

  • com'on 6 dislikes what???????????????

  • My friend is asking me to hear this sad song in the morning ....... -.- great song but not in the morning !!!! (help me) !!!!

  • Im absolutely blown away with this song, the words and guitar are fabulous. it says and means so much. i can play it over and over again. ive just shared it with a kenian friend of mine, he also thinks its fantastic. Keep it up Neil, bring some more on!!!

  • I think this is Neil's best song ever and he has many great songs.

  • See my new AMAZING RACE song on my YT channel here, under my name MrDanBloom, i rewrote the old lyrics of Amazing Grace and turned into a 2011 update from 1745 and call it AMAZING RACE, for all of us , we are one HUMAN RACE.....there are no such things as separate races....WE ARE ONE RACE

  • most of you seem to forget neil diamond is jewish.

  • Absolutely love it. This is why I'm on YT in the middle of the night.

  • Diamond told the Sun newspaper May 16, 2008 about this track: "I stand back and look at Pretty Amazing Grace and to me it's a song about the perfection of love. To somebody else, it's gonna mean something else. There was no premeditated idea. What does it all mean? I don't know and I don't care. It's gonna be what it is. I feel much the same about all the songs."

  • This is a love song and has nothing to do with religion. I wish christians would stop finding the slightest reason to jump on there high horse or to start preaching.

  • WHY VOTE? IF YOU DISLIKE IT TURN IT OFF NOONE HERE CARES!!!

  • This songs gives me alot of memorys of loved ones :') <3

    one of my favorites

  • this song has nothing to do with religions. I think it talks about love, which is waaaaaaaaaaaaay higher than mere religions on earth.

  • love love love the song

  • Surely this is a song about a woman? he is using religion as a metaphore.... so I really dont see why everyone is arguing about religion here. Great song though

  • RIGHT. ALL OF YOU SLAGGING OFF CHRISTIANITY HERE, PLEASE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT IT FIRST. ASK A THEOLOGIAN ABOUT WHAT WE BELIEVE, THEY'LL KNOW BEST, OBVIOUSLY.

ALSO, TO THE CHRISTIANS HERE. YES, I'M TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH JESUS, BUT THE LOVE JESUS GIVES US, SHOULD BE RADIATED OUTWARDS, LET'S STOP TURNING IT O ANGER AND HATRED AND SHOW LOVING COMPASSION AND GRACE TO THESE PEOPLE, LIKE JESUS HAS DONE FOR US. Thank you all x

  • A beautiful truth sung by a sincere man with a good heart and a fantastic voice.

    Thank You Neil.

  • Where are all of you from this song is not about religion this song is about faith in yourself. Listen to the song,

  • has it occured to you that your god is the same as the jews and muslims? different rules for different religions. and if you truly believe in god you believe he is all loving and therefore forgives and therefore everyone gets into heaven MAJORRR hole in religions logic...mainly christianity

and this song is more about love than religion...

  • Great song regardless of religious orientation, end of argument............

  • There are so many comments about this song, but only a few make sense. This song is art, and therefor by definition open for interpretation. It can be about God or Love that just depends on you. I'm religious, but for me this song is clearly about his love. Everybody is free to think otherwise, that's what makes art interesting.

  • I loved this song from the first time I heard the first bar of this song. Fabulous song

  • This song is awesomely beautiful, really lovely, love it !

  • what a superstar this man is up there with bob dylan awesome

  • A religious person looks at the world through religious eyes.

A romantic person looks at the world through loving eyes.

Therefore, a song could mean something completely different to anyone. In the end, it doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy the song.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG. It always cheers me up. :)

  • all I can say about this song is, AMEN :)

  • pretty amazing song...

  • MrMartinAlmighty: "Have fun in hell" ...oh yeah, 'cause THAT's a Christian sentiment...

  • for my little baby girl grace who has kept me sane since her brother was killed 3 days before she was born xx

  • i don't see god at all in this song, it sounds like a love song to me

  • ive never liked neil diamond, but this song is so good it stopped me from being a drug taker and fighter.

I feel much the same about all the songs.

  • My boyfriend introduced me to this song, and I love it. It's great

  • Lol Rush is my favorite band, and so this is what I have to say, NEIL PEART AND NEIL DIAMOND RULE!!!

  • this lifts my spirits

  • Am only 16 and he has got me hooked on his music.

  • I think there is a difference between religion and spirituality.

Remember, he is a California boy. :-)

  • Just love this!!!

  • Neil has revived his earlier faith - he is clearly talking of his relationship with God on this album and tour - and even said so in interview on UK TV - hallelujah, brother Neil

  • ''By grace are ye saved through trust; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Elohim: Not of works, lest any man should boast''.

    Amen.

  • whatever people interpretation i guess...

to me, this is a umm a certain woman... =)

  • it is the Grace of God, filling us with everything we need not any other person but God himself. Then when we have his grace and love in our hearts we can share that with others.

  • Great song! quite different from his others. I really like it! Beautiful music, great message! =)

  • ( L )

  • god didnt write this awesome song so why praise him, dont think about religion just sit down an relax to this song. bringing religion into this song only lowers the song imo.

  • God created N Diamond and gave him that talent , Thats why he sings to God, Dont u listen? hes giving thanks to God allmighty, God bless him The whle song is about Him , Ur right when u say dont bring religion " But God s this song not religion IMHO

  • dude i believe most of the comments here are posted by spiritual freaks! WTF? I don't get one word of your spiritual bullshit? can't you just listen to the (great) song?

  • great song I have recently been to the chapel and a church .The crowd went into raptures.I praise God for this beautiful song with great lyrics

  • milozcool,im not heavy with religion but i,ve seen a lot of strange things when i lost my mother and father which makes me beleive in the after life you are right take care if they can find a way to you they will honest

  • Interesting comment. I do Crossing Over and noticed the "strange things" you mentioned. Nothing is strange it is part of the vastness of the Spiritual Realm.

    Be blessed.

  • jesus won't cure your cancer sweetheart, rest assured it takes medicine

the scientific method rules and will forever. can ya dig it?

  • Jesus can be asked to ease your pain and discomfort. And you can appeal to the angels to watch over you - this all for you when you need it - Juliana

  • I am a christian and was so pleased to hear this song as God does give us grace.

  • one of his greatest songs...

  • we can all have an opinion .......

  • pretty amazing song

  • pretty amazing grace is how you saved me.

  • i love neil diamond what a performer

  • does it really matter? Everyone sees things differently and hears things differently. To me, it's about God. To someone else, it's about his wife. What does it matter? If it speaks to someone, it does. There's no point in having arguments about what he meant it to be,

  • To you, everything is about god.

  • lol thank you! thats a lovely way to put it, and oh so true

  • Don't thank me man, thank our Lord Jesus of Nazareth, after all, he died on the cross for our sins.

  • @IDanceWithJesus, neil diamond has professed to be a believer in christ so it does matter what this song is about & if anybody to think differently is a misinterpertation of what he is saying and is idol worship

  • Comment removed

  • I thought it was a tribute to jeff buckley

  • surely it is about his love for Will and Grace- the now cancelled TV series!

  • Just enjoy the song...doesn't matter how he meant it.

  • your Saviour can wait, until then: just listen

  • beautiful

  • Great song! It doesn't matter if you think it's about God, Jesus, his wife, a girl, or his pet parakeet. Music is different things to different people. Just kick back and enjoy it.

  • @7thCavScout , this song is clearly about jesus, anything else is idol worship, plus neil diamond has said that he is a born again christian

  • @rxtsec1 Get a grip, its about his missus or a bird. I know this because i asked him. cos i know him. You christians aye? always looking for hidden meanings to support your mumbo jumbo. satan and promiscuous sex rule.

  • @gscouser so you talked to him and didnt get a clear answer, sounds like your just guessing my brother, neil diamond has said he is a christian and as i said b4 if this song is about any other thing it is idoltry whether it be a women or a animal or any other person. i also know that your not a happy person who needs jesus, If you never accept remember Jesus told you so & satan tricked u to believe a lie straigt to hell

  • @rxtsec1 I'm a believer and I think you're a nut job. It's people like you who give Christians bad names. You walk around angry and attacking people all the time in stead of just being happy in a beautiful world and trying to spread happiness. It's ridiculous. Maybe the song is about a woman. Who cares? If it is than have you ever thought that God used the woman as a tool for teaching Neil? Stop being angry and bitter and damning people. Only the worst go to hell. Lighten Up!

  • @iamkilroy the scriptures say that the only way into heaven is thru jesus christ are lord and savior. you can be a so called good person but if you dont believe in jesus you are going to hell period. i hope as a believer thats what you are telling people. if not you are leading people astray and will have to answer that. i am about truth and so was jesus. God Bless You and if you ever get this lets pray for each other. people's souls are on the line. remember that when you testify about jesus

  • @rxtsec1 What kind of victory did Jesus win on the cross if 95% of humanity is doomed to hell?In Adam all die.In Christ ALL live.Yes I agree there is a second death. But only until the end of that age. When all comes to the end I believe all will accept the love and beauty of the lord. The restitution of all things. We must understand that some of the scriptures have been mis translated.eg for ever and ever should read "Til the end of the age.Every knee shall bow every tongue confess!Love never fail

  • @g0vqw every knee will confess but that doesnt mean everybody will go into heaven. its a nice thought that everybody will go into heaven but that is not true. narrow is the gate into heaven, the bible clearly says that. Its so simple, just believe that jesus died on the cross & is your Lord & savior & that his blood was shed to cover all of are sins. Problem is many people choose not to believe that & God will not force anyone into heaven who doesnt want to be there. he wishes none to perish

  • @rxtsec1 dear preacher, just because you are religious it doesn't mean you have to give us a full rendition of The Bible and its meaning on youtube. Yeah I'm religious too and believe in God and Jesus etc...but just because others don't believe the same things as you it doesn't give you the right to tell them they're going to hell. Furthermore, if you are a bad person and you believe in Jesus that doesn't mean you'll go to heaven...it's actually through Jesus's WAYS, ie if you're good like Jesus

  • @idtakeabullet4taylor hey man religion doesnt save anyone. John 3;16 says only those who believe in Christ are saved. It also goes on to say that those who dont are already condemned so what you are saying is a heretical doctrine because it doesnt match with what the bible says

  • @g0vqw by your logic a person could live a life full of sin, not care about Christ;s sacrifice; literally spit in God's face and never ask for forgiveness and still yet end up in heaven.

  • @DrMelay008 Happy new year

  • @g0vqw happy new year :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Noncommonsense WOW!!! At least 66% of the world is going to Hell, then!!!!

  • @rxtsec1 not to get in the way of your hideously self righteous sermon or anything, but i think you'll find it's Jesus Christ 'our' Lord, not 'are'. And i was just wondering when exactly God told you all this, because you're apparently more clued in than the rest of us about heaven admittance process. Seriously dude, quit telling everyone they're damned to hell and enjoy the song

  • @nbopal21 pretty easy dude! if u want to be clued in read the bible. Dont know what you call it but to me its the infallible word of God. and its pretty petty to point out little spelling errors.

  • @DrMelay008 not that i've read it cover to cover, but i don't think there's anywhere in there that says we can decide who's going to heaven and who's not ourselves, pretty sure that's not our decision. if you could point me to that particular passage that would be great, otherwise just let me enjoy the song.

  • @nbopal21 i never said we could. the bible quite clearly says John 3;16 that whosever believes in Him will be saved. It then goes on to say those who don't believe are already judged

  • @DrMelay008 i do not interpret that to mean that a supposedly benign god would condemn inherenly good people to burn in hell. if you do then i pity whoever is at the mercy of a god like that. now if you'll excuse me, i have some neil diamond to listen to.

  • @nbopal21 supposedly benign God?? where did you pull that from? There would be no point in Jesus dying if a person could be saved by good works. btw do you know the 10 commandments? whats the 2nd one? you just might be in danger of breaking that one

  • @DrMelay008 Please. Stop. Channel your patronising preachings into another song. Maybe you could write your own? 'Pretty Amazing Grace - Religious Reprise'?

  • @DrMelay008 i dont memorise them meticulously no, but if i'm not mistaken the second one is not to worship idols or any other god and not to make graven images or likenesses of god, so i'm not really sure what what you mean. in my mind god does not condemn good people to an eternity in hell, and i'm unsure as to how i managed to enter into a conversation with a religious fanatic over this on youtube. just want to enjoy the music, so goodbye and good luck to you.

  • @nbopal21 your definition of what and who God is can be considered as idol worshipping if it doesnt follow what the bible says about Him. and btw name calling?? real mature!

  • @DrMelay008 from what I've read it's not name calling, it's a simple fact. And by the way, by 'there would be no point in Jesus dying if a person could be saved by good works' you are basically saying that Jesus died for us, so it doesn't matter whether we are good or not. That, my friend, is complete and utter crap. The point of Christianity is to be good like Jesus, and follow his ways. Go read The Bible a couple more times, you'll get what I mean.

  • @idtakeabullet4taylor Took your advice and read the Bible a couple more times. Apostle Paul clearly states that all are sinners. That said he also states that by Faith we are saved, not by works lest anyone should boast. Im not saying that it means there is no need for good works since apostle James in his book says what point to have faith if we dont have works since our actions and deeds show what we really believe. Also be certain what you are trying to prove and dont look for arguments.

  • @DrMelay008 Salvation is by faith alone, and from the Holy Spirit that enables faith comes a disposition towards good works: the Fruits of the Spirit.

  • @ViscountKonstanz isnt that what i said? :/

  • @DrMelay008 Yes it is, I agree with you.

  • @DrMelay008 So, dear Dr. 'Melay008' (although I doubt your PhD), you believe there is a 'God' that is good, great even. That God created man, gave them the ability not to believe in him and those who did would go to 'hell' (or just get 'judged'). That is your belief? Also, about your rather strong dependance on the Bible, when has anything in the Bible ever been validated as something true enough to judge someone else over or even kill them for (crusades). Pretty sick..

  • @mofooooo123 first of all mate, all people who justified killing in the name of God were not Christians....they were catholic....if you think they are the same you are sorely mistaken... Christian means Christ like or little Christ, meaning someone who exhibits the same characteristics of Christ therefore your argument is baseless

  • @unmaskedman07 Nice 'first of all' without anything following that. Also, Christianity is a religion, not a way of life. Not saying they were Christians as Christians are 'supposed' to be, they were still Christians for that is the religion they lived by and apparently also killed be.

    Therefor your argument is baseless..

  • @mofooooo123 hey mate well guess what i claim to be the president of america and also the queen of england....guess by what your saying i must be,

    therefore your argument is baseless

  • @unmaskedman07 Nah. Because both Queen of England and Persident of America are given titles. 'Christian' is something you consider yourself, because it's YOUR belief. You can be Christian by any standard, if you BELIEVE you're Christian, Christianity is your BELIEF.

Figured I wouldn't have to explain something this many times to a smart Christian like yourself.

  • @mofooooo123 you havent explained anything to me....True Christianity is not a title you can call yourself by either. True Christianity,as described by the Bible, has fruits, meaning a person exhibits certain characteristics. Characteristics which were first shown by Jesus Christ, which is why Christian means "Christ-Like". Just because you believe you are on, doesnt actually make you one

  • @unmaskedman07 It does though, because that 'belief' is all it is. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, every single one of them is a 'belief' so if someone 'believes' in either one of them then they are, in fact, part of the group that 'believes' in that entity. So yes, it's nothing other than that belief, and people that 'believe' themselves to be part of that group are, in fact, part of the group of people that 'believe' in that God.

  • @mofooooo123 your argument doesnt hold anu substance....im not talking about what a person believes themselves to be....im talking about whether they are who they claim to be....hence the reason why i explained what a Christian really is....people who killed in the name of God would be the same as you having a insane fan who went around claiming to follow your will and killing people in your name...(hmmm there goes your actual argument)

  • @unmaskedman07 And about not explaining, luckily your argument considering given titles was completely irrelevant to this discussion so if you wanted to talk about explaining..

  • Comment removed

  • @DrMelay008 *inherently

  • @DrMelay008 but what makes your holy book more special than any other holy book, and please! for once try to imagine how someone else thinks of faith and respect this, ps: this has nothing to do with this beautiful song!

  • @nbopal21 Never said im a great speller however what i do know is that the bible says jesus is lord and that nobody gets to the father but thru him. i believe the bible is 100% true. if you know that jesus died on the cross 4u & his body was broken and blood shed 4U then ur destination is heaven & ill meet u someday. I pray that all men will confess jesus is lord in there hearts & ask 4 forgiveness of sins and believe that he rose up on the 3rd day and will come back again. God Bless Everybody

  • @rxtsec1 Let us for a second pretend we believe in fairy tales. Yeah? Ok, now: I would prefer to spend eternity in hell sucking Satan's veiny cock than spend one minute in heaven with the likes of you, you sanctimonious little piece of clutter. Go find a whale to live in and let the rest of us evolve in peace. I was raised a Catholic and I feel qualified to say, if God does exists you are most certainly a huge embarrassment to Him. P.s. God is a homosexual.

  • @gscouser You believe in satan. God created everything including satan. Hence to you Jesus exists in almighty power and you blindly refuse to accept it? Have fun in hell.

  • @7thCavScout Well said bro. I can't believe some of the rubbish people say to each other on here, its refreshing to see a sensible comment so thanks. It is indeed a wonderful song, no matter what he intended it for eh!! ;-) Cheers.

  • Yeah I agree - He is talking about a woman and unconditiolal love. But he also said the people will interpret it in different ways. A lot of people interpret it as Gods love, and honestly I dont think he has a problem with that.

  • yeah i get the impression he's talkin' about a women and unconditional love

  • Even if Neil didnt mean it to be, I think this is one of the best songs ever written about the love of God. I think he said in an interview that it was about the "perfect love" which of course can mean different things to people.

For me perfect love is what I met the day I received the grace of Jesus.

  • that's a great theory but too bad he's talking about a girl he wanted to nail but yea your story is um not even close?

  • He was talking about his wife, you dumb fuck.

  • I'm not religious you stupid fuck, but I also don't have a problem with religion. You're trying to force YOUR shit to other people, so just shut the fuck up you hypocritical faggot. CadenWolves comment clearly does not force his views upon anyone, he was saying what he thinks. Get over yourself, you pretentious prick. You were clearly trying to start an INTERNET TOUGH GUY fight with someone because of what he believes. Fuck yourself, and learn some fucking grammar.

  • We can all safely assume some things - he is American, I haven't done any research into this but I suspect he may have inklings of christianity.

I would think he wrote it about his wife but someone of his calibre won't include Amazing Grace in the lyrics without intending people to make the christian connection.

All that aside, the point is it's a brilliantly crafted song and can be respected for that alone. Anything else you put on it is for you - or Neil or whoever is listening at the time.

  • I agree, the song is about his wife, my main inclination to think this is that he is Jewish. I think that the link to christianity is there, but it is an unintentional one

  • absolutely - it is a great song -

  • Wow. What a lot of b.......... Neil Diamond does not have a Wife! Two exes yes.

Get the facts before slanging out there.

And the language is really intolerable. Inasmuch as a photo that is unacceptable can be reported, so should bad language!

  • The auditory equivalent of melted chocolate!LOVE IT!;-)X

  • Isn't neil a jew?

  • no.

  • yes

  • Why do you people have to be so simplistic to assume this song is about God?? The first time I heard it, I was POSITIVE he was singing about a woman.

  • And the first time I heard it I was POSITIVE he was singing about God. Ask Neil himself, he will tell you who the subject of the song is.

  • Actually, Neil himself said in an interview that this song was about his WIFE. Look it up. So there you go.

  • i think that with a name like "GodAloneBeTheGlory" there may be some bias in the comments

  • some people believe and thats because they might of lost someone like me i am a 12 year old boy and i have lost 3 members of my family in 4 years and thinking that someone is looking after them especally my sister who died at 11 years old and she was named Grace so it may not be about god but you can't knock people for thinking it is

  • From a Medium, which I am, I think you have been blessed with Neil's song, the words, and your thoughts - The Angels will always watch over your Loved Ones in Heaven. On the Other Side.

    Juliana

  • Brilliant Song...

  • this makes me think of elloise she has a pretty amazing face

  • amazing makes me cry i hope he has found Jesus

  • It's ignorance like this that annoys me. Maybe he hopes you'd get over Jesus! Leave religion alone and enjoy the song.

  • i love this song

  • can every1 forget bout religion n jus enjoy the song

  • But Christ is the centerpoint of the song.

  • I not really a big fan of Neil Diamond, but this song is pretty good..

  • Neil sounds wonderful on this track, and this song is really lovely.

  • lovely track,exellent voice.....

  • luv u hulahippy1

    u r my amazing grace!

  • All the people saying that this song has a christian meaning, i dont mean to rain on your parade but neil diamond is jewish so i doubt it is. i mean it might but still

  • the song has religious connotation - amazing grace is definitely first & foremost a Christian expression. Grace is something that i strongly believe in, I am a committed Christian. x

  • Thx to Neil for that song!

  • Amazing Grace is the woman who loves him, you dope! She gave him a second chance after he screwed up and she had the "grace" to forgive him and help him believe in love again after so much hurt in his life. He's known a lot of hurt over the years. Her amazing grace is her love and ability to share it with him.

  • of course this is about God and stuff if YOU think it is that way, but great songs are the ones that can give a different message to every person in one single note, (just my opinion) and to some of us, this song talks about more interesting things that just "God is the coolest theme of the world", i believe in God and everything but it makes perfect sense to me that other people also feel other kind of things while listening to this song.

  • Walked into a chapel and was humbled and awed by what he saw there? This amazing grace cannot be comming from anyone but God Himself.

  • No. Open your mind a bit.

  • @GodAloneBeTheGlory Yeah alright. Yeah, he's a commited Jew, but your belief obviously surpasses his intentions.

  • u shud put in lyrics then it perfect

  • What's the link between religion and Neil??

Great song anyways. Mother told me to look this up... I now do it dayly :P

  • Mother? lol

but i agree gr8 song my dad told me bout it

  • lol!

    Mother!

  • luk jus forget religion, enjoy the song, wot eva religion he is its his choice jus leave it
