I found a cassette tape I had made years ago with Savatage on one side and Celtic Frosts' Morbid Tales on the other.

It really hasn't gotten any better to me.

If you think about it, most everything cool came from the 1980's. We've just been improving on the technology of the 80's ever since.

I'm not really sure if Alex screwed up. He just has his own style, I guess. He doesn't have to play it exactly the way Criss Oliva would have. It sounds pretty close, though. If he did screw up, oh well. He's human after all.

I have been convinced that Zak Stevens is a limp-wristed patsy from day one. Was I forced to retract my opinion after this clip? Maybe a little. But I do I respect his effort. Even the whole "AHH, OHH" thing toward the end showed that he respected the true master, Jon Oliva. Thumbs up to Zak for putting out a great effort.

It was neat to hear Jon and Zak trade songs sometimes... like the "Sleep" bonus track on Wake of Magellan sung by Jon.

Wish they could make a bigger financial splash with the Savatage name, I'm really not big on the Trans-Syberian Orchestra's Christmas-themed stuff. Beethoven's Last Night was great though.

Jon's "Pain" records are a little iffy too. 'Tage Mahal was good, but the follow-ups seemed lacking to me.

Now it's Jon, Caffery, Middleton, Plate, Damon [can't think of his last name...He's not a very good replacement for Stevens though; I don't think anyone could be.] and I'm not sure who their lead player is anymore, it was Pitrelli on their last album. If you notice videos with Jon Oliva on vocals, he uses alot of reverb and echo effects which give the impression he has a higher and better voice. Zakk hardly uses any echo at all and why he he he doesn't hit the high notes. Oliva today can't sing worth anything. Probably why Zakk is on vocals and Oliva is on keyboards...Right?? So don't say Oliva is better than Jon. Even I would sound great with reverbs and echo effects to my vocals.
