  • Go back to reading your bible!

  • I just hate the animation in this one,is just that bad :(

  • 4500 years ago there was a great flood that wiped out all land animal life-except for the animals on the ark - the flood water was a combination of water rising from the deep and a thick canopy that surrounded the earth - when the canopy was destroyed the oxygen levels in the air was severely reduced & so all animal life became much smaller - about 30% so

bubbles of air in amber that are thousands of years old reveal the higher oxygen levels

    micro evolutiion is true

    macro evolution is a lie

  • hahaha that short faced bear has a slap down with all those wolves!! just man palms those bitches! lmfao!!!

  • i like how the bear bitch slaps everything

  • i hate it where they show the same clips over and over again.... how many times did the wolf bring down the bison????

  • @shannonripsher Those animations are hard enough to do. And I don't think the makers wanted to spent too much money. Just be happy there are such 3D parts of this awesome wolf. ^^

  • WOLVES ARE THE COOLEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD LIKE IF YOU AGREE!

  • I've fed wolves and played with the cubs, they are the coolest animals on earth, believe you me.

  • im subscrubung to ur channel becuase i dont have national geo. channel on my satileitte so thank you and keep making loads of vids

  • only an idiot I know dogs larger than the dire wolf, they were shorter, but have your in robust. this would help them attack from the bottom, most likely under the neck and stomach. a dier wolf weighed 180 pounds, now multiply that by 5.

  • whats up with the 8th video? O.o

  • Starks liked this, Lannisters disliked this.

  • so fluffy wolfs XDD

  • I always find it funny that they say it was "just over 2 feet tall" to emphasize its size...2 feet is 24 inches...that's not much more than my knee. Many large breed dogs, and certainly wolves, get bigger than that. I know of many species that are over 30 inches at the shoulders. I see great danes all the time that are closer to 3 feet tall. 2 feet tall is tiny...just saying. It would not weigh 150 lbs at that height.

  • @sonbuhitsunei dire wolves had a larger, denser bone set, which meant they were a stockier breed. saying that it wouldn't weigh 150 pounds because it was only 2 feet tall is like saying that a human couldn't possibly come to weigh up to 300 pounds because they're only 5'5. There are other factors that contribute to weight.

  • I wish that Dire wolves were still around. Then we could show those stupid, puny, weak, tiny dicked hunters who's boss!

  • american documentaries on stuff like this are shit they tell u the sme thing over and over and over and then they show u the same bit of mediocre animation over and over and over

    BBC is so much better

  • i am the total wolf lover i hope i know theres a good bit of wolf lovers out there but i just have a long line of wolf lovers in my family for years I LOVE YOU WOLVES FORever anD evER

  • Getting tackled and "bitten" by those dogs looks like the worst job in the world. I'd definitely use a helmet.

  • Here's a song about Dire Wolves. The George RR Martin kind. Youtube: Norselaw Dire Wolf

  • hjjjgg

  • i love wolf *-*

  • So is this where Werewolves come from?

  • Funny. A lot of this is bullshit.

  • @Tips4Tat

care to elaborate? Aside from a bear smacking 2 wolves with 2 swipes. Just curious

  • @mytummyrumble

First of all, that clip they keep showing of a single dire wolf tackling a buffalo is total shit.

The dog tackle trials are full of exaggerations and dramatizations so that the viewer gives more credence to what the speakers are saying.

Pay attention to 11:22. It says that "The more vigorous attack of the Dutch Shepherd hits at the advantage the Dire Wolf had over its lighter gray cousin." There is no fucking way that those tackles would bring down a Buffalo!!

  • Sad they had 2 die. :( :( :( :(

  • poor wolf. I HATED TO SEE THEM IN PAIN! Its so sad. :( :( :(

  • wolves are my fave animal

  • i like trains

  • @ASCG5000 dıııııııp booooom :D

  • @KGArias i like turtles better >:(

  • @KGArias i like trains

  • @KGArias wolves not wolfs

  • 10:51 fucking hell TAKEDOWN

  • over specialization is a killer every time. adaptability is key.

  • oh yeah, blame the humans. what ever happened to survival of the fittest?

  • 9:24 the horse ancestor was just like "awww fuck it"

  • Dutch Shepard totally HUMPED that guy.

  • Awesome documentary, lets not get into a religious debate, but the earth is way more than 10000 years old...

  • @WarringGod Naw the Earth was created 9am Oct 23 4004 bc.

  • Comment removed

  • Are human bread canines more efficient in survival than nature bread? And what would happen if there was a battle over territory between the two? Let's say Caucasian Ovcharkas, German Shepherds, or Rottweilers versus wolves. Would either of those 3 breeds stand a chance against dire, or even grey wolves?

  • Why is a naked person in my suggestions bar...? o.o

  • @Pilgrim1411 LOL! Fuck up! You're a dumbass!

  • @Pilgrim1411 you mean 10 BILLON years.

  • OMG! that so awsome i love wildlife vidieos

  • @Pilgrim1411 your stupidity was invented by the white man

  • @Pilgrim1411 earth i very old but you are right that all these dates are false n invented by white man

  • @ssrwt obvious troll is obvious

  • @Pilgrim1411 Are you Retarted?

  • That settles it; I WANT to work in this park!

  • @Kuramalover86 scratch that. I got the wrong video. Everyone just ignore that. But the wolf is still cool.

  • I'm glad the grey wolf survived instead of the dire wolf. Going into the forest would be a lot different...

  • wow...i wonder how many species of animal we're responsible for killing off...fuck us all, we need to die

  • Humans always help with extinction

  • Grey on steroids

  • Doggy dog world

  • this world would be better without humans right?

  • W e all know that man hunted them to extimction...screw the ice age idea.

  • America I guess is the land of wolves....oh yeah!

  • They had to test the bite of Alsatian.

  • wow cool

  • Winter is definately coming yo!

  • this video is just sooooooooooooooo loooooooong!

    LOL!!!!!

  • So nobody is going to make a game of thrones reference like: "winter is coming" ?

  • the comment below is cuz of the collar comming off

  • LOl 11:00

  • So much bloody repetition in these Nat Geo documentaries. .

  • Have a pack of dire wolves as guard dogs

  • That was well good!

  • I wish saber tigers existed still... I would keep him and name him.... uh larry

  • @killerslayer543 I would do the same with my pet dire wolf.... "Hello... uh larry."

  • they can bring back dire wolfs by using there dna and creating a clone or using it to create a sperm and put in a female grey wolf

  • wait wtffff they were real wolves

  • thats is what we always do we ruin the word and all the sweet animals :( thats not good

i wish that all the animals come back to the word

  • same reason as the sabertooth then

  • We ruin everything we touch

  • stupid humans...

  • I wish dire wolfs still existed...:(

  • i so want one, and one that looks exactly like ghost.

  • @squall600 A group in the US is recreating the Dire Wolf's bone and body structure in a domesticated dog breed. Google: Dire Wolf Project

  • I'm here because of "the Grey"

  • Pleeeeaaase don't murder me!

  • Um, it says that they grow up to 5 feet long from nose to tail, but grey wolf males can reach up to 7 feet from nose to tail....:/ doesn't that not make them the biggest canine? Im confused, anyone have any ideas?

  • i was once a handsome man, that would bring ladies to their knees.

  • Thats what happens when winter comes.

  • @FallenTemplar1405 JSDBFJSDBHF LOL

  • @MrOsiris771 you posted some stupid comments too ya know :/

  • @MrOsiris771 i have over 10 accounts.

  • If I was a human 10k yrs ago and had to live around packs of 30 dire wolves I would probably try kill off the cubs so I would put my money on that.

  • @MrOsiris771 i'm black7cloud actually, and i do have a life lol.

  • so they are trapped because of the trapped prey? cool!!

  • @MrOsiris771 Get a beer and turn off that computer, lol.

  • Thumbs up if you hate the Republican party and will vote for Obama!

  • the dire wolfs couldve starved to death with all their prey dieing

  • Game of Thrones, next is Clash of Kings, Ghost hunts north of the wall with Jon Snow and the Black.

  • pretty much, ice came, man fucked the dire wolfs shit up and took the wolfs food. and gray wolves live because they lived in smaller packs and were faster.

  • Some of their prey is dying too easilly from the attack. The dw's never got that good of a hold of a vital part for them to just expire where they fell.

  • 3:34 BITCH SLAP!

  • GAME OF THRONES!

  • The direwolves must have survived in the Westeros alternate universe.

  • @black7cloud this was past ice age ... and the answer for sotark11 might be that over time animals just became smaller and smaller due to extinction of larger prey, so dire wolves just became smaller over time to become as what we know today as the gray wolf ... just as humans were bigger and had more mass in the past, so did animals back then ... so over time, nutrients became consumed lesser and lesser by creatures, age also shortened, body mass also became smaller ...

  • @MrRawmeat69 Actually, with humans the theory is that our larger brains meant that we didn't need all that mass. And we needed stamina, not strength. But that also may have been a factor in homo sapiens evolving as the climate changed in East Africa.

  • Wow that one dog at 11:00 just flew at the guy :O

  • I bible verse came to my head...

"And the meek shall inherit the earth"...

Is this not what happened between the Dire Wolf and the Gray Wolf?

  • @equarg gray wolves are meek?

  • 44:43 ONOMOMOMOMOM =3

  • WARG!!! WAAARGGGG!

  • @kelsmart the hobbit :)

  • @sotark11 Ice age?

  • @Black7Cloud Influence of human over hunting and climate change. They were specialized for larger prey and most likely started hunting smaller animals, but could kill enough to sustain their metabolism

  • @Black7Cloud

nuh-uh , didn't the vid say that it was at the end of the Ice age?

  • @Black7Cloud T'was no ice age. T'was the white walkers beyond the wall...

    Winter is Coming!!!

  • @sotark11 Not a matter of 'prediction', but a matter of 'knowing' they were there from the fossil record, and like it or not, species do go extinct for a variety of reasons.

  • @sotark11 Maybe got crushed by a glacier, or rather end of ice age?

  • @sotark11 Wow, you're dumb. No offence.

  • @sotark11 fossils, ice age and traits shared in the canis family

  • @sotark11 they were out competed for resources.

  • @sotark11 theroys?

  • @sotark11 why there are fossils found?

  • @sotark11 umm, theres fossils of the dire wolf at the George C. Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, Los Angeles

  • @sotark11 evolution?

  • @sotark11 Ice Age and humans domesticating them and evolving themselves into the modern day wolves of the areas of the deserts and other areas throughout the world

  • the world was awesome and fair, then it took humans to the knee :(

  • Stood just over two feet tall, five feet long? Why do they say it's the largest wolf to ever walk the earth? Present-day timber wolves are bigger than that.

  • @Xonx68 Contrary to popular myth they were only slightly larger than the modern gray wolf.

The dire wolf (at 150 pounds & 24 to 28 inches) had a larger, broader head and shorter, sturdier legs and it's teeth of were much larger and more massive than those of the gray wolf. Over all more powerfully built than modern Gray Wolf.

The Timber Wolf is the largest subspecies of Gray Wolf. Males can stand 32 to 36 inches at the shoulder (long legs) and weigh 100 to 145 pounds.

  • @RichardBeckett66 Thanks for that.

  • They just found a skeleton of an anient werewolf that was killed in it's wolf state.. They still exist today..

  • @JeroenMW2 I remember that MST3K episode.

  • Dire wolves VS Short faced Bear!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wolf pack was chasing a steppe bison.

  • AOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jpeniera i already knew about Dire Wolves before i saw Game of Thrones lol

  • they faded into Oblivion?!.. no! the deadra will get them!

  • @VeronicaandAnitaLpsC I'm pretty sure if they did bring one back it only be one and they would probably keep in a observation room of some sort so I don't think they would just let loose of the thing, but I'm sure it would be terribly lonely by itself since they are social creatures also with the mammoth and die of loneliness. Iv heard it happen to animals who are social. I don't think they can figure out how it died just by bringing one back, it could of been number of reasons, like environmen

  • @Preetima1125 I agree that they probably wouldn't allow it to go free, but don't agree that that would be sad. If they let it go, it would be a monster on a murderous rampage, which would be something beyond sad.

  • COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wolfs attack tacticaly but bears are like nope im the boss just crush that deer

  • if the dire wolf existed 65 million years before dinasours, grey wolves, and other animals, how come they are still alive after the astroid hit earth, accept dire wolves.

  • @xxlushedenxx No one knows how the dinosaurs died or any other animal unless you were alive at that time.

  • Two feet tall is nothing. That is 24 inches. Any mastiff or wolfhound or great dane today is 30 inches or more. Something is wrong is wrong in what the narrator says, or these wolves were not as big as they are described. Any first class mastiff today weighs more than 150 pounds.

  • @golfan1000 I agree. A gray wolf today is 3 feet at the shoulder, and 150 pounds is not that heavy compared to giant dog breeds. :P

  • A dire wolf would make a fine pet for the likes of Chuck Norris!

  • thumbs up if Game of Thrones made you look up Dire wolves

  • lmao, ... the white guy uses a black guy to test the dog attacks... like if he was running from the PO leese.

  • Dire wolves exist in the world of Game of Thrones!

  • @skeaneable hell yeah!

  • @skeaneable Really? Dire Wolves were in Game Of Thrones?? I never got round to watching that! Pity, I missed 1 of my favourite wolves in a show said to be brilliant!

P.S. What's Game Of Thrones like anyway?

  • @Abominatrix650 Games of Thrones well it's a Fantasy storyline setting but like HBO's True Blood lots of violence gore, nudity and sex scenes it's very very very GOOD!

  • @skeaneable Hmm...it appears I made a mistake by missing it last year. Know where I can catch the Pilot episode?

  • @Abominatrix650 go to a torrent site and download the first season XD!

  • i have a dire cock

  • 11:00 he lost his chain

  • People do seem to have a fairly common misconception that direwolves were massive and twice the size of a regular wolf, or something like that. In real life the direwolf was actually probably only slightly larger than a grey wolf, in fact people have actually said that the largest grey wolves are about the size of what Direwolves were. In height direwolves probably weren't that much taller due to having comparibly shorter legs than a grey wolf, although they were fairly bigger in mass.

  • @TheJacksForAllTrades Iam thinking that nature is like a god she is creating creatures and test their limits so if something can survive it either evolve into something better due time or it extincts. Dire wolf in the ages of pre-iceage it was like nature create those creatures because she knew what was coming kinda crazy idea of thinking but maybe its truth.

  • to respond to ur ?- is there anyway for them to come back- i looked it up where ever i could find it and i found out in mexico the were recreating the dinos... they failed and set out to do the impossible- recreate prehistoric predidtors.

  • der kurznashen bär ist doch der könig oder

  • It would be amazing to see a creature of that size power and capability walking and hunting on earth agian

  • Dire wolfs are amazing <3 Arg why did they have to go extinct? I would have loved to have one as a pet :3

  • @Dturtlewolf omg i looked it up and mexico are recreating them... scarey... they will eat you!!!

  • "-There are no dire wolves south of the Wall...

    -Only five."...
