i cant seem to find the song if recall its in the early part of the movie when he starts travelling hes in the car on a bridge or something. its more joyful kinda popish then the other songs in the movie.
Although the melody ISN'T the same, I think I am sure where Eddie got the inspiration for this song from..... I repeat the melody is not the same, but the major IDEA behind it sure IS - I bet he was inspired by the song "ENIGMATISM" by MIKE OLDFIELD. Try and give it a go - listen to Mike's song throughout the one entire day, and you will FEEL the connection behind it.... Eddie is a great singer, but he is stealing ideas for music. Guaranteed.
@FunkinJam Then just do it, but make sure you bring enough granola bars, twigs and berries, cause u dont want to eat a potato root look alike!!! I'm in Northern California right at the moment, bout to go back to Los Angeles... RIP Alex Supertramp

@sigurosa I enjoyed the film, until he broke the wall (with audience), when he stared at the camera and made a face (whilst eating his apple...and talking to it).
Sean Penn achou um livro jogado numa banquinha e o transformou numa obra prima, principalmente por escalar Eddie Vedder para fazer a trilha sonora. SHOW!!
Beautiful. Love this movie and soundtrack. Eddie Vedder has quite a way with lyrics. My father-in-law died last Sunday, we play "Just breathe" in honor of him but any song from "Into the Wild" would be suitable in rememberance of his life and/or death.
only one comment - I miss the scene with mooses (Hirsch crying over the beauty). I think, this is the best scene. anyway, I love this video - together with this music.
I have seen this movie twice (yesterday and today). Those words, phrases, quotations to remember. It touches me infinitely - moment of hapiness turns to sadness and the other way. The power of independent life and living in this society, cant stop thinking about it... I like the end, which finally meets the real life. Sean Penn is the man (never know he is also a director!) and Emille Hirsch is brilliant.

“I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die Discover that I had not lived.”
Chris found the answer he was looking for toward the end. He wrote it in his journal. The cruel irony is that unfortunate circumstances took his life shortly there after.
Have no fear For when I'm alone I'll be better off than I was before I've got this life I'll be around to grow Who I was before I cannot recall Long nights allow me to feel I'm falling I am falling The lights go out Let me feel T'm falling I am falling safely to the ground
Have no fear for when I'm alone. I'll be better off than I was before. I've got this life, I'll be around to grow. Who I was before I cannot recall. I'll take this soul that's inside me now like a brand new friend I'll forever know. Long nights allow me to feel I'm falling safely to the ground.
As if to prove a point I see that Chris is still attracting attention and making people look at themselves and if that brings about the remotest of changes in us then surely thats what makes Chris inspirational ??....am I wrong?

Escaping the "asylum" is more about beating the system rather than running away from it..
I used to think the same thing. And yes it may seem naive but he lived more free than any of us ever will or even dare try. And i think he realized how tough it would be. Not sure if he had the thought " I may die " However i believe in his time alone he was exactly where he wanted to be to find the answers he wanted. So yes with that it was an incredible movie/song/album.
@kinikie From your point of view, perhaps. I agree with the original statement. He chose not to be part of the system and not to give in to what people expect from you.
@kinikie kinf of agree with you. but still, he was only 22-23 when he "escaped" , that´s way it is said many time in the movie. so yes - he could afford to be naive. anyway, there is a pretty nice discussion about it - and maybe, that´s the director´s point.

i truly respect chris and he and i are a lot a like i spent 5 years hitchhiking canada and have spent 3 months in the wild aka no mans land ultimate freedom i made some travel videos check em out on my page
One of my favorite movies but what people forget, its hard alot of times, if you dont have money its hard to get water and food everyday, sleeping outside etc everybody at one point in their life want to pack their bags and go, but in the end wont do it cause it is a big decision. I know, i will be leaving very soon leaving everything behind myself, without money and on foot but my mind is playing tricks on me everyday because society made brain to think logicly.Check my profile if you like
I wish I had the guts to give up my life and live it like Christopher. Inspired by Ghandi? No. Inspired by Jesus? No. Inspired by Christopher? Absolutely.. I bet he's still walking in Alaska..
I can honestly say that no movie has ever moved me or inspired me to do anything quite like Into The Wild just amazing. What we believe to be life is not what we believe to be happiness is not what we believe to be beauty is not. We can never understand that unless we are FREE.
If we do not know if there is an afterlife or what the end holds, then surley we should make the differences in this life we have now.
Utimately if we all concentrate on our own affairs instead of others then we might actually begin to love and become satisfied. Who are we trying to please with our social characteristics, other people, why, who are they? Why so much effort because the companies/bankswho feed off consumerists are the real winners! We are just insignificant victims.
freedom is life !

PSH. i pity for those who think what chris did was stupid for they do not know how to truly live their lives like he did.
