  • its actually pronounced a-zeus ;)

  • or you could get an acer with a quad core processor, webcam and 4 gigs of ram for $400

  • Can we run minecraft with it ?

  • so this one does not come with the option of coming with linux instead of windows? Drag...

  • I pronounce it as ay-suss. :/

  • i pronounce it ass-us :|

  • @shatterhandeve Me too.

  • I installed a Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB 7200RPM laptop drive into my 1005ha netbook and the speed increase is drastic. I can safely say that the i/o bottleneck is removed from the computer in day to day tasks.

I used hddscan to query the hard drive temperature and it only runs a few degrees warmer than the 160GB 5400RPM 1-platter drive that came with the computer. Go with 7200RPM drives or hybrid drive with onboard NAND flash, they don't use much more energy at all.

  • Just bought one of these today for $220.00 I really like it so far. I only intend to use it for playing back my backing tracks while I jam guitar to it. :) Surfing the net and Netflix is quite nice in bed too. :)

  • Can it play 1080p HD video Smoothly?

  • u should just take ur clothes off

  • Can it play minecraft?

  • @magmablood2 Anything can play minecraft....

  • @magmablood2 mine does

  • @kiko2516 fuckinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn RIGHT

  • I had one... and the charger just stopped working one day... And I had to buy a new computer...

  • Don't buy one, please. I'm not a computer expert or anything but seriously, this thing has broken in the same way for me 3 times now and I'm sick of it. The stupid charger port keeps breaking and so I'm unable to charge it and i'm really careful with it as well... well anyway, I'm not wasting anymore money on this pile of steaming crap. Duck ASUS and this pile of shit, I'm grabbing a Dell Inspiron.

  • I'd install Linux on it anyway.

  • this thing kinda sucks i just got one 1 year ago the battery is shot it is as slow as idk a moth and nothing shows up on the screen to small dont get it it sucks

  • can't one install windows 7 on this netbook?

  • @totallyhotty If u buy a newer version it already comes pre-installed w/ Windows 7 .

  • I've been using my Asus netbook for about 2 1/2 years now. Great netbook. I go to college and I've done all my papers/homework on it. This thing can do more than you think. And I believe it's under $300 now, but I'm not sure. Well worth the money.

  • @staariel5 use a application called starter wallpaper changer

  • I like You.....

  • This netbook isnt that good asus sucks stay away i went through 2 of this in a year

  • wtf 9 my fucking dick i have this gar-bitch and the piece of shit only last 2:40 min? can anybody help my with my problem?

  • That feature(among many others) is disabled in win7 but if you google your problem you will find a program which changes the backround. Still I'dd advise you to change your operating system.

  • I am using my sisters Eee pc, it has avtually got 0.99gb of ram and the battery life from new and stated on the box is 8.4 hours

  • asus makes the best laptops. followed by toshiba.

  • hey what should i do i have this pc and i have sppeakers for it but the jack got cracked or something and now i cant plug my speakers into it is there a way i can fix my self or do need to take it the shop ?

  • fcuk, i bought this for a x-mas present and i see everyone's bad experience with it

  • I've got a question, i've got a K series Arsus bought it for about 800 euros (1000dollars) can u tell me if this is a good laptop? Info - Asus K72J - Power Gear 4 self ajusting ventilator - face recognition CPU = Intel Core i5-460M, 2.53GHz VGA = ATI Mobillity Radeon HD 5470 ; VRAM: DDR3 1GB Display = 17,3" HD+ HDD = 500GB Memory = 4GB Wireless = 802.11n ODD = DVD Sup.MTI. OS = Windows 7 Premium
  • Stop pronouncing it wrong, dammit! Imma slap the shit out of you!!! D:<

  • Should I install Windows 7 on this?

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong yes it helps but if u get them now it comes with windows 7 thats what i got with mine

  • @theverylittleone

You're right when you call it crap, this module brakes alot and needs constant system restoring. until finally it goes into power faillure.

  • @Drai776 wtf, i had mine for a few months now with no problems, yall need to take care of your stuff lool

  • she talks too fast I cant follow :(

  • i got it for cristmas to is veryy god for long trips for every day using for camps and the bateryy is very good

  • bought it today loving it though i like the mate finish very nice NO FINGERPRINTS

  • @theverylittleone hmm...mine has been working 100% for a long time now... must be all that low quality stuff you mentioned.

  • @theverylittleone Well it's about the same quality as most of the other netbooks the big companies are putting out (Acer, Dell (YUCK), HP, etc). I agree with you on its deign though; Asus made the 1005 a pain to work on, even on the Aspire One its easier to replace the hard drive, etc. It left me scratching my head because Asus' older laptops are a breeze to work on and easy to disassemble.

  • Nice .... I meant the netbook :-)

  • is it really pronounced as-sous ? i always say a-sus

  • @TNG128MB yep.

  • can i change the graphics card for this and if so which kind do i get

  • can i change the graphics card for this and if so which kind

  • This video and the Toshiba mini NB205 were both published at the same time, yet you say that they both have "longest runtime of any netbook to date". Despite the Toshiba being 8 whilst the Asus is 9.

  • Does anyone else's cut out at 3:21?

  • @frampo4 no

  • i have the same netbook but i do not have that software bar does that come with an update i got mine about an week ago

  • ..So, is the HAB and HA the same thing? D; Cause my HAB battery died, and I'm wondering if I could replace the battery with an HA one.

  • how much does it cost?

  • @SmokeKeshuk $240 at best buy

  • Family Guy!

  • I can make mine in about 10 seconds, I installed "core windows 7 edition", which is a stripped down version with all the essential components for a netbook only, and disable boot UI. The core OS is the most stable system I've ever had and is perfect for netbooks! anyone interested msg me.

  • it looks like my 1005p but mine is color white

  • I have the pink and white one! (:

  • @XoTorrieoX why do you have two netbooks?

  • Can microsoft word be downloaded on that ?

  • @GPaulDiddy Yea

  • @GPaulDiddy Ways to get microsoft office on your netbook:

    External DVD drive

Download open office (free version of it)

Torrent it (only do that if you bought it, pirating isn't ok)

Or use your main computer that has a dvd drive ( assuming you have one) and copy to a usb drive.

  • @Chintendoeddman ok, i have it on a flash drive, thanks.

  • smile more.

  • does it have a dvd player????

  • I like the white one better

  • Comment removed

  • I have one right now and I love it, I paid $279 at best buy... but the only thing is I got a 3 cell battery that lasts 3-4 hours... very nice netbook and very powerful... I recommend it!

  • @Jameel819 man you should have bought the one with a 6 cell battery, which claims to last 10.5 hours, but you should know better that's not quite what you get when giving it normal use. I get about 8 SOLID hours, doing lots of different activities, with wifi on and super hybrid engine set to "power saving mode".

  • and to put it out there so that everyone knows, to get 10.5 hours they want you to set everything to "power saving mode", the hybrid engine, battery settings, also no wifi, no blue tooth, no aero styles, no nothing.

  • the only bad thing is that it does not have a CD-R

  • @edogwanter LOL it's a netbook...

  • There is already a way to make the lid less prone to fingerprints. A checkered grip-like surface similar to a plastic handgun grip would be fingerprint resistant.

  • can you attach a mouse on netbooks? i kno thats prolly a stupid question :)

  • @greeneyedoll28 yes you can.

  • @greeneyedoll28 of course you can. If it has USB ports, you can attach anything that uses USB 2.0

  • AY-SUS

  • maan, I bought one from a friend yesterday, $100

  • arhg I want one.

  • i got that

  • those it hav a cd rom?

  • @SarisWorld

No, but most netbooks don't and usb CD drives are dirt cheap.

  • mine has some weird soft plastic top so finger prints dont show on the lid

  • When Yhuu Buy It Doess It Come With Windows Sevenn!?!

  • family guy

  • is this computer good for gaming?

  • @TheWunderwaffle you can run older games like morrowind starcraft and diablo easily. and its even possible to play WoW on it.

  • mine has the same name as this one but the specs are different

    i have a 250GB HDD instead of a 160GB

mine has 750GB of eee storage

and it uses windows 7 starter

    WEIRD

  • @iamterence77 same here

  • @iamterence77 yeah same here

  • wear portable gloves

  • howthafuk did u get my laptop imma slap u if u dont give it back >:(

    lol jk

  • she smack

  • i think this is the computer im gonna get.:)

  • Is this the 1005HA-H or 1005HA-P?

  • @joosthuub I know it's not the HA-P because mine has better specs

  • AAAAAAMMMMMMMDDDDDDD llmmaaoo

  • Family guy 1:30 YAY!

  • You can play downloaded games on this net book...I was just doing it

  • hav this laptop lol

  • oh god! its so ugly :S wtf! how could they make this thing without half the asus employees killing themselves?

  • mine has a rubbery feel

  • ITS PRONOUNCED

    A - S - U (U as in Us) - S

    Stop saying ASOOOOOOS D:

  • @buttduck97 hehehe me too! In fact I'm using it right now! :D

  • 9 hours of battery life?

Mine seems to last only four hours.

Mine is this same thing. Except it doesn't look that cool on the sides.

Maybe it's a different type then.

  • At Wal-Mart,com, this is $278.54

  • I got the same lap top but much more better! It cost like 539 in pc world i got it for free :D

  • does this have a built in microphone?? i cant tell...i want one in pink!

  • 2GB RAM and 64mb graphic card: Counter Strike 1.5, Counter Strike 1.6 , Quake 1-2-3 and Need for speed (old versions 1....8)

Ex: You can play Counter Strike in 800x600 d3d mode.

  • just got mine today! witrh win xp! win7 on netbooks sucks

  • could you play World Of Warcraft on this?

  • @Trazor2k0 No why would you wanna play that??:P

Srry. Still. Gaming on a 10'' LCD....

  • @Trazor2k0 Of course you can. Wow has very low sys req and the eee 1000 series can run it very playable. But you need to download it with blizzards own downloader if you dont have an external CD player. You can then play for free by playing on a private server like Molten Wow.

  • could you play World Of Warcraft on this?

  • This is probably a obvious question for some, but does it support flash player because i am addicted to facebook games such as yoville, bejeweled, resteraunt city, etc. Lol

  • It supports flash!

  • @BillyTheAlienVideo Yes it does it is a normal pc just smaller and all pc´s support flash player.

  • Can I play games on this ????

  • Just need a info i'm planning buying eee pc for school and just want to know if it can run WoW on lowest setting. Maybe not raidinf but checking mail and taking with friends and maybe doing heroics ... Thx for the answers

  • @lambofgodfans BTW if you know any other mini laptop who can do this just tell me ^^

  • fingerprints! who cares

  • i just got mine today it's awesome

  • is it fast for like uploading vids like with a capture card

  • Does this come with a built in mic?

  • yes it does

  • My Faculty in vigo (Spain) has purchased approximetily 30 of those laptops, i used them and i got to say that they are a little slow and sometimes they hang up when you open 3 or more internet windows. and the mouse pad is a little unconfortable to use as well. But besides the precessor this laptops seem to be almost perfect.

  • laptopmag, Another point to consider. I like the video.

  • lol the asoos? retard it "ay-suhs"

  • good for star craft and diablo 2... and maby age of empires or command and conquer

  • How is it playing Counter strike source???

  • Learn to pronounce ASUS? its A-SUS not A-Sous.

  • @DrummerX166 you right

  • @DrummerX166 It's not it's pronounced as she says it. We're all just used to saying things how we see it written with no regard to where it originates from..

  • I think you missed my point...

I mean play Crysis on a 10" screen eg. Sure there's some folks out there who wants to do that, but i guess mostly folks indeed prefer at least a 15" screen - im sure you understands now. :D

  • Id like to know if i could play counter strike source on this thing

  • Who wanna play a game on a 10" screen anyways, those are made for fast, comfortable working situation as studies and mobile office :/

It's like expecting to be able to play Crysis on a Palm phone :/

  • tbh it really isn't. Basic gaming on a basic computer is very different to high spec gaming on a handheld device.. Games such as AoE 2 will run okay, Counter-Strike Source/ Team Fortress 2 will not run without some hard work

  • @SuburbAllied No it's not.. it's simply a case of wanting to play some games on a 10" screen. And yes, you can play basic games on these. Things like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Worms Armageddon, GTA Vice City run perfectly fine.

  • are the graphics good for basic gaming??? i need to know

  • No they are not... these kind of notebooks are suited for internet and office....

  • @elmocheesecake1174 deoends on how you define "basic gaming" This computer will run the original Half Life, the original "The Sims" and other games from that time period. Half Life 2 starts, but will crash within the first 5 minutes of playing. It's just not able to handle it. Games from this current time period will not run on it, most of them won't even boot. The exception is Oblivion. Oblivion runs, using a program called "OLDblivion", that dumbs down the graphics significantly.

  • @elmocheesecake1174 It's not the laptop or desktop that determines the graphics / quality. it is the capture card or HD PVR.

  • @XBLyResupply what the fuck are you talking about?

  • @wetpoodlehaha An answer to someone's question...

  • @elmocheesecake1174

You can't play games on a netbook, bud.

  • @Dorvalizer

OF COURSE YOU CAN! how old are you? 10?

  • @pufixas

Good luck playing games on a machine with a 1.66 GHz single core processor, 1GB of RAM and no graphics card. It would struggle to render the graphics for Pong. Dumbass.

  • @Dorvalizer

YOU CAN PLAY GAMES!!! My friend have it, and he can play GTA sa!

  • @Dorvalizer Your lack of 1005HA knowledge is hilarious. I play WOW, Guild Wars, and GTA just fine with mine (1005HAB). The only thing I want to play that it can't handle is Sims3 and Second Life. In regard to Second Life, it plays but is excruciatingly slow.

  • @shahanastyle

It can even play IMVU. but i must warn ppl i buyed this laptop and it broke so easy with some power failure crap also due to me hitting it lol.. anyway if anyone is buying a laptop, this version has many problems with its wi-fi connection and constently brakes i would suggest getting a big & better one.

  • very cheap

  • does oovoo work on this?

  • @jayjay1496 I've managed to use oovoo with the 1005ha, cpu intensive. but otherwise it should work.

  • Yeah it's good .. if you want something simple. I didn't like it I regret buying it in the first place.

  • ur hot

  • Im On Mine Right Now

  • @JaydenRox11 Me too! ;)

  • @JaydenRox11 how do you like it? i'm looking at a few different netbooks and i saw a few good reviews, just wondering how you like it? (i'd prefer a regular latptop cause of size but i hear netbooks are really good)

  • Omg I'm getting this soon, so I can have a laptop as well as my huge nice ASUS desktop. I've been needing a laptop, but not wanting to spend a lot on it, or get a big one!

  • I think I have this netbook or a different version that is quite similiar to this with Windows 7 Starter upgraded to Home Premium.

No problems with the AC adapter and I've had it for about a month.

  • I won this on WePC :)

  • i have this netbook i have no defects in it the battery and ac charger are pretty good no big problams SO far so yeah pretty kool

  • droooooolllll.... ;)

  • sssssssssssss

  • lol asooooss

  • @Joshwarse lol yea really, I thought it was pronounced Ace-us. Or at least it sounds better.

  • Nothing in this review cant be read on the asus publicity.

    Very Poor review

If you are going to review a netbook please show how it performs boot up standby youtube video web surfing running picasa3 etc etc

Please show us something, which cant be read on the manufacturers web site.

Better still AVOID everything, mentioned on the manufacturers web site.

Then you will be informing us.

Reviews like this one are a complete waste of time space and effort.

Thank you for wasting my time

  • Though many sought after this netbook there are problems that exists.

This netbook is known to have problems with its power supply. Battery/AC charger.

I bought one only to find out it had a defective battery, after numerous online research I found there are many other users struggling with the same problem.

Please if you're looking to buy this netbook, find and read some customer reviews first. There is a small margin between this and some other netbooks out there, save your headache

  • I have this computer, and it is great. i just have one question. I am only getting two and a half hours out of the battery. Is mine messed up? please reply. Thanks!!

  • I think there is a problem, yes. It should work for in excess of seven hours - at least on Power Saving Mode. High Performance Mode would still allow you to use it for over five? six? hours between recharging sessions. Never really checked, but the 63Wh battery certainly is a winner. I should get back to you on this.
