i still say the way in which the homosexual lobby used the liberal dems and playing off the aids crisis to prop up their political agenda, which earlier had forced the psychological community to dismiss homosexuality as a mental illness threw lobbying the gov't to force them to take it out of their manual, the gay movement is just a political movement that is using it's particular traits to gain inroads that it otherwise wouldn't have, and in what way are gays similar to blacks in minority?
@TheHanzoMK1 Th evidence appears that you are born (or become gay, if that is the case which is seeming less likely) through no decision of your own. This means that to deny someone rights because of who they are infringes their rights. As marriage is a social institution defined as a couple (or more) agreeing into a commitment, it should be open to all. Do you disagree with this?
Prop 8 was legitimate and has recieved an unusual amount of attention due to hollywood, gay actors, the gay community, left wing liberals, and the like. The people know how they feel and in face a minority was in majority vote of voting down prop 8. That would be the latino population. If you ask me we can never give the minority more power because of the majority...why do you think each state gets two seats in the senate...that is in fact elected by the congress. The minority is represented
"Prop 8 was legitimate" As in what? Was it a legitimate ballot initiative, yes. Is that a legitimate way to pass a law removing a right from a group of people, no. And the reason that Prop 8 got so much attention is because it was the first time that a right was granted by the courts and taken away by popular vote.
Prop 8 getting voted was just as hyped as global warming. And now look where that's leading to, everyone is questioning the legitimacy of Al Gore's documentary, inconvenient truth due to the crazy winters we've had the last couple of years. And there's been a record amount of ice on the polar caps since 100 years ago. Besides most people will cling to their religious values and beliefs before accepting science as a definitive of truth. We live in a religious world.
Oh Excuse me, sorry for hitting a sore spot. If there's one last thing I would question about this video, arugments, gay marriage, and the like is...how the hell does all of this line up with Truth? Whats the reality of this?
It's not a sore spot, I just wanted to point out that you were evading the discussion, that only happens when people think they're not going to win an argument. As far as truth, I have no idea what you're talking about, are you trying to evade the argument again? If you want truth, the truth of the matter is prop 8 was a situation where the majority took away rights from the minoirity, plain and simple.
Its not about winning or losing chuck. I wanted to see what you felt about it. Anyways, What is Truth? Or the Objective Truth? Plain and Simple...What is the truth about being gay? How does the world see that Truth? Is it a reality? or just a relative reality?
I'm still not entirely sure what you're asking, but talking about truth, gays are a minority. A behavior based minority but so are minority religions. Weather being gay is a choice or not (and I think that's what you're getting at, correct me if I'm wrong) it doesn't change the fact that gays are a minority, and the majority took away a right that that minority had.
To me I would prefer the democratic process to legislate such issues than biased institution full of elites that manipulate the judiciary system to pass legislation in this country...AKA ACLU. I will agree that the ACLU does serves it purpose but it needs to be done in moderation...focus on the more important issues of Race and yes even defend the rights of homosexuals. Secondary issues need to be left up to individual states aka Prop 8. And the people spoke.
As I said before (and I say in this video) the majority should not be in the position to take rights away from the minority, that is the definition of opression. And that's exactly what happened with Prop 8.
Gay marriage hurts the family = prejudice hiding behind family values. Gay marriage does not hurt my family or the values I teach my children. How can it? Thats the worse argument of all; for supporting gay unions should be pro family. Christians should promote gay marriage as otherwise they are telling them they should be alone and they should try it, but rather they love to judge others but hate it when they are judged.
I've got a quote for you that reigns a lot of truth in our society and culture.
"A society whose members feel insecure and guilty seeks the antidotes of security and expiation by trying to legislate equality." -Robert H. Bork
Where do we strike the balance, who should consitute the legality of the issue. If you ask me we rely on the courts to define the relative issues of our culture instead of allowing the people through the democratic process to decide.
The courts are there for a reason. If we had a true democacy such as the one you mention, who would prevent the majority from opressing the minority through law? If protestants decided to make practicing Catholocism a crime, or if Christians wanted to make practicing Judaism a crime, there would be nothing in place to stop them.
2) This isn't an issue such as porn shops in Times Square. This isn't even an issue such as saying fuck on prime time television. This is a human right to domicile with another human of choice.
3) For example, it is a right to have same tax benefits of transferring property to that person and to hold property together and everything else that comes with what we legally define as marriage. From a legal standpoint marriage is a civil union and nothing more and I will argue with Judge Bork that the core of our legal system is to provide a fair playing field regardless of who you are.
1) I might be even more pragmatic than Judge Bork, but that's a stupid statement as the entire point of our independance is to give people an equal chance to pursue happiness and to not recognize one union over another for a plethora of legal reasons is just backwards. The only argument someone can make is a religious one and we separate religion from the state.

If gay marriage has a valid argument then so do people that practice bestiality. Or people that want to marry their chair...in the end they have no feelings for either man or woman.

I'm saying that if we're gonna look at this non-traditionally then we should make means for marriage to apply to all different parts of society..since we are redefining the word and truth of it. We should let people in the droves to go to court houses and marry anyone or anything they like. I'm just taking the relative view that your portraying in your video and seeing if we can discuss other marriage alternatives as well.
As I said in my video, marriage as it is today, is not what it traditionaly has been. Did you not even watch the video? You should watch a video before you criticize it. Aside from that, my previous statement still holds true, anyone or anything that is unable to give consent, cannot get married, end of story. Allowing gays to get married doesn't change that.
Basicaly you could take your argument to its extreme and say that you could call the process of making a tunafish sandwich marriage. The fact is marriage in our society today means something very specific, two people who love eachother joining together legaly so that they can have all the benefits and all the drawbacks of doing so.
People churn out these reasons for gay marriage being 'wrong' as if the sheer number of reasons - however invalid - somehow adds up. If each reason can be utterly refuted, as you're doing here, it shouldn't be used. The fact that people continue using refuted arguments shows they're clinging on to emotions rather than using reason.
I'm looking forward to your next installments. Since arguments against inequality *still* have to be made, it's wonderful to see them being made as eloquently as you're doing here.
I've been trying to figure out how homosexuality might fit into an evolutionary framework. Best I can come up with is that it provides a buffer of productive adults that don't tax the comunity with children. Handy during war or famine. Thats my answer to opponants saying gay relationships are unnatural.
I think that's probably how it evolved. Also people say the it can't be genetic because gays don't reproduce, but the gene is most likely a resessive gene that also has a beneficial role in a heterosexual carier. If two heterosexuals that carry the gene mate, there's a 1 in 4 chance of homosexual offspring.
Yeyyy great video!! They are wrong for so many more reasons then I originally thought. Very thoroughly and stupidly wrong. Love you <3

You intolerant people know that the world is changing EVERYWHERE and it won't stop.
