  • I am a man who has seen death one too many times... for each time life began once again. Or perhaps I was just getting a glimpse of the real world... Is it possible that I am asleep? Death being the only chance of waking up... Well, I guess now I'll know. See you, space cowboy.

  • I agree in life...we gotta knock a little harder...and maybe we can break through...

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the theme song to Emi Ibarazaki.

  • you gonna carry those burdens.

  • Man is caught between the past and future

  • HOLY CRAP I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG IT'S JUST SO HRNNNNGH

  • See ya space cowboy...

  • Awsome song. Too bad your post is dynamically compressed :/

People ! Find risin' version of this song. It's not hard !

  • @Oszych2 /watch?v=xdE1JCEKtg4

  • そいつはただ、一人ぼっちだっただけさ

    自分以外の誰ともゲームを楽しめない

    夢の中で生きてるような

    そんな男だった

  • I can just listen to this song and think back on everything I've done in my life...I don't need any photographs, no video recordings of family events...This song somehow brings it to the surface in the most beautiful and calming way. A big thanks to Yoko Kanno for her composition skills.

  • Start watching this watch?v=Or9CeuqcfMY and play this song at the same time. Pretty epic.

  • Classy as fuck

  • Cowboy Bebop quote. Thumbs please.

  • Heard this song on the movie and fell in love with it. Only watched the movie yesterday.

  • It was just that he was alone always by himself. Never anyone to share the game. A man who lived in dreams. That's who he was.

  • Mangnifique

  • Are you living in the real world?

  • @Ellectrollama yeaaaa, about that, I never understood that quote. Can someone explain me ? If theres an explanation that is xD

  • @v2791 It's from the movie. both Spike and the bad guy say it in the movie because they didn't die (Spike thrown out of a very high train while wounded and the bad guy jumping off an overpass) correct me if im wrong xD

  • @Usicat1224ET Yea, but whats the symbolism? Thats what I wanna know xD Any idea?

  • @v2791 might be way off base with this could be due to the fact the both have old baggage related to a near death experience that altered there fates and has driven them to the point they're at so its more asking are you living here and now or are you stuck back then

  • @cerberuspaw hmmm, never thought of that, it makes sense... I guess if they said "are you living in the past" wouldnt sound as cool. Thank you for the insight ! It makes sense to me now ^^

  • this is exactly the state of my mind right now

  • Mai Yamane gets the credit for this. One of the best vocalists out there, and that is NOT an opinion; she can sing in so many styles so well. She has the soul of Aretha Franklin and James Brown combined. Really like Yoko's stuff but in reality this is just a standard gospel progression nothing fancy, it's the musicians that make this one work.

  • The sad thing when you listen to the song it never says if they broke through the door or not. Sad to think they never managed to shed the chains that allowed them to open up.

Wow that was heady sorry this song gets to me.

  • What genre would this song fall under? What are some of the characteristics or rather traits for this song that I can use to find more like it?

  • Happiness is just a word to me

And it might have meant a thing or two

    If I'd known the difference

    Emptiness, a lonely parody

And my life, another smokin' gun

    A sign of my indifference

  • I was deeply confused when I looked up Mai on wiki. when it kept saying 'She'. For nearly 10 years I thought Mai was a man. I'm still in shock but it won't stop me from loving HER voice. <3.. Why why did it take so long to look her up lol

  • CB for life.

  • they shoulda put spikes closing monologue on the end of this

  • @pulmonaryarchery88 me and probably many others would cry. I have no shame I cried at Spikes closing monologue. :D But they should have. It would have been Epic beyond words.

  • @CocainePunk It was necessary for Spike's death.

Without him dying, we wouldn't all be here reminiscing on how good the anime and his character was.

  • @MindfulPerson i duno there's a lot of people out there that wanted to have him wake up in his mass of bandages with Faye sitting over him as he wakes at the end of 26, i mean i know it wouldn't make sense with all the closure they put on it but seeing him go was too much

  • @MrTsorge I picture that scene. But it's a point of view from the bed. Eyes open, see Faye on the side of the bed and Faye says "Wake up, time to stop dreaming." and fade to black. It wouldn't really add much, but I don't think it would hurt either. Alternatively, it's Julia on the side of the bed, and it's all just another dream.

  • I'm a Cowboy Bebop addict, so I'm going to audition for the Live Action Film.

    Why?

Because Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts influenced me to love anything.

Well anything, but Vicious that is .

  • a hell of a song

  • 4 people gotta knock a little harder.

  • Holy crap I didn't know Mai sang this song.

  • This reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "What it is and should never be".

  • @Andrewoid95 what is and what should never be you mean? yeah, i guess it kinda does

  • @therealfolkblues007 Oops my bad, that's what I meant.

  • Now look here buddy, Im a country man. That means I solve problems with mah bare hands. Not philosophic problems... but f'rinstance. How am I gonna stop someone from breakin into mah house? The answer? Work fer it. If that don't work... Work harder.

  • There are not enough MMMMMMMMMMMMs in Mai Yamane to describe how much I lover her singing.

  • Sorry, "Fireworks" and "Born This Way", I think we've found an even better song about being yourself/coming out of the closet.

  • @AutumnDevi uh i dont think thats what this song is about...its about the lonelieness and isolation of a person that has killed other people...."I kept a chain upon my door (my soul, myself) to shake the shame of Cain (being a murderer) into submission".

Does anyone actually try to understand things, or do they just always try to make it relate to them?

  • @narcoticrex Idk, you tell me, you're the one that invented the "killer who just wants to be loved" angle....

  • @AutumnDevi i "invented" it? its sort of the theme of cowboy bebop

  • makes you want to let go whatever you have, run outside of the city and look at the stars.

  • Talk about a song that gets me.

  • Your Gonna Carry That Weight.

  • Yoko Kanno is a damned genius. Like, how in the hell.

  • @rovert40 SHE REALLY IS

  • 4 people are Red Dragon Syndicate enforcers.

  • 4 people didnt knock hard enough

  • SEE YA LATER

    SpAcE cOwBoY !!!

  • the beginning reminds me of "atlantis" from donovan

  • @Flowtrump true :D

  • Wow. Tim Jensen just wrote my life story. And Yoko Kanno set it to some of the most amazing music I've ever heard.

    Absolutely beautiful.

  • And they say Japan only has Jpop and Jrock . I love how Yoko Kanno makes different kinds of music

  • yoko kanno taught me what music is.

  • the seatelts were livin in heaven bessing god with there music so god said "why am i being selfish? let me give the world a lil present." thank you sir on be half of every one

  • .........ARE YOU LIVING IN THE REAL WORLD?

  • I have been engulfed in a sea of good music...nothing bad here can touch my ears...

  • @16piller16lol it can but it wont get through baby

  • @FlCl3000 nope not at all

  • 4 people have to knock a little harder...

  • last reaction 1 week ago. lets change that.

when is the last time I heard this song?? and i have to say, it's like anything that has something to do with cowboy bebop brings me back...

  • last reaction 6 days ago lets change that

This song kicks... ass good times

  • last reaction a month ago!? Lets change that :D

I love this song! Long time since I've last heard it.

  • Knock a little harder. hehe

  • This has got to be my fav. song from Cowboy Bebop, hell my fav. song from Yokko kanno since it's the one that got me into her music and Jazz / Blues altogether. No matter how many times I hear it, it sends shivers down my spine for oh so many reasons. A tragic tale about shutting ourselves in when everything we need is out, fearing reality, ... fearing life.

''Break, down... the door...'' ( Are you living in the real world ? )

  • Yoko Kanno didn't write this song...

    ...God did...

    She just made it tangible

  • the lyrics are really amazing you guys! Really amazing song! Love cowboy bebop AND the seat belts!!!

  • Cowboy Bebop isn't a drug, it's more of an imagination enhancer.

  • This song did things to me that usually only an otaku fantasy consisting of the ensemble females of Haruhi Suzumiya, Read Or Die, Evangelion, and (ofcourse) Faye.......okay, plus double teaming this cast with Kamina.........why yes i escaped from broadmore asylum ^w^ (insane, but good taste, no?)

  • @JakenJragin No, try harder.

  • @AloofAntares Okay. Bibble Black. Ikki Tousen. And Eiken

  • One of my fave songs.

    Seatbelts FTW

  • seatbelts reminds me kind of gorillaz

  • @Azerimax i know me too...i cant really explain the similarity, but they remind me of them as well...i guess its just the high quality of music they both put out and there is so much playing at once it seems

  • It's just, that he was all alone... had no one to share the game with. A man who lived in dreams, that's who he was.

  • @Zalatzar and what u porpose? That he takes his sweet and lonely girl and putting her in the middle of his fu..ing live of shoots, guns and blow?? Tonni,Tonni,Tonni...

  • This songs gives me more peace than any thing else , in mi city there is a tower with fre view of the city i feel closer to heaven every time i go up and when i am up i recall this song a lt of peace is inside my soul.....

  • A great send off track to the work that created a genre in and of itself....

    :') *sniffle

  • It's just... that he was all alone, a man living in dreams

  • Are you living in the real world?...

  • @DocFrogger maybe not in the real world, but you are with real ppl. enjoy the journey.

  • Such a good song and great movie/series.Really hits home with me and the barriers i/we put up around ourselves.

  • Mmmm, sing it gurl.

  • damn... idk whenever i watch this movie i just think "man fuck the life i have" and want to like idk be a part of the movie

  • This song gets soul like a fucking sucabus.

  • hahahahaha

  • @drawman3354 hahaha i thought of that off the top of my head, good eh?

  • I love how this band can sound so different yet keep sounding so consistently good. This anime has, hands down, the best anime music ever.

  • "It was just...that he was all alone. No one to share the game with..."

Are you living in the real world?

'Cause I'm living in his. And I like it. Epic song to wrap up an epic film. Kanno does wonderful work.

  • The influences of the song Knockin of Heaven's Door are obvious. Absolutely gorgeous.

  • This song is so trance-like.....

  • This song sounds like it ended the series..and if you think about it. it did..well the movie anyway. Just felt like it needed to be there...like it completed it. Its magical. when i hear it i wait for my credits..then i realize im not in a film

  • Her voice is so husky. I like it though.

  • "Happiness is just a word to me

And it might have meant a thing or two

    If I'd known the difference

    Emptiness, a lonely parody

And my life, another smokin' gun

    A sign of my indifference."

  • this song is fukin sik!!!!

  • this song gave´s me the chills its so cool

  • The Seatbelts' music is insanely good.

Especially this. Definitely my favourite song in the whole wide world.

  • NAPPA!! Dont TOUCH It!!

Fool! He's so dense, he had no idea.

off topic but bebop rules and it really has become a genre in itself just like the text used to say mid episode...gets me amped, and makes me want to use laser eyes...preferably Z beams

  • oh good I I really liked this song on CB but I never could find it till now!

  • the seat belts are probably who taught me to love every kinda music cause it can all be good.

  • @KZbleach even reggaeton?

  • @FernaMedel that is the exception ( i never thougth that someone could say that word while i'm listening the master piece of cowboy bebop) reggaeton not is music... is torture

  • @jdmejia2009 torture indeed my friend

  • somtimes sound like gospel or rythim and blues its a good song make's me crye

  • Gospel. It does feel like that.

  • Is this the Seatbelts? if so, they've changed, idk if this is better than the ole stuff, but Damn! its good

  • The words "Gotta Knock A Little Harder" are in the song. Just pay attention near the end, you can hear the chorus of women in the background singing it.

  • yeah lol it's repeated like 50 times.. lol

  • There are many songs that has a name which isnt mentioned in the song text.

It doesnt make the song less good just because 5 words are missing.

Dont tell me you also get annoyed that instrumental songs doesnt have their name mentioned in the song text ;)

  • Heh, very true (Bottledflower). Actually though, they say "Gotta knock a little harder" a billion times in the background vocals near the end...(4:00ish) :P

    But yes, good song !

  • Care to explain WTF you're talking about?

  • i wrote that when i first got all the albums and was like wtf happened with the albums as they went on, but as i listened to them i didn't care that they are all different, thats what i love about the cowboy bebop albums, they have some much to give. i know it was a stupid comment, i just like the first one soooo much, but now i love them all. sorry if i offended you or anyone.

  • NP, it was just an oddly worded comment. I actually agree with you a little bit now that it's been cleared up. I was hoping to find more Jazz like "Rush" or "Tank", but no matter, they're all still good songs in my ears.

  • My god that fucking bass. Incredible.

  • this is another one of my favorites. the first time i heard it i did everything i could to get it. <3

  • Saitoh, you got know, ain't no white or black in the blues, sho nuff ain't anything else.

That being said, anyone can have soul.

  • so true

  • @tkgawa

true...but its also good to pay dues to the originators, ya know?

  • @tkgawa word.

  • for the longest time i didnt believe this woman was japanese. Her voice is so soulful i thought she was an older southern woman singing the blues. Looks truely can be deceiving. But damn she can sing her ass off, i love this song.

  • This song always brings me a good sensation i love this song one of my fave.

  • Give it all that I got And started to knock Shouted for someone To open the lock I just gotta get through the door And the more that I knocked The hotter I got The hotter I got the harder I'd knock I just gotta break through the door Gotta knock a little harder x3 Break through the door.. ...
