@metallicoteras Went to see them in Newcastle on Wednesday. There were no death metal vocals at all. However, they were so good it really didn't matter. I don't think they'll abandon the heavy songs from the first nine albums forever but if they want do do this for a change we should probably respect them for it. Isn't that the reason we like them in the first place, because they're different?

Those who like mellow prog rock will surely love the album, but I find the clean vocals here subpar compared to, let's say, Credence, Face of Melinda, or Benighted. My favorite album by them is My Arms, Your Hearse. I just couldn't get into Damnation no matter how much I listen to it, except Windowpanes and Hope Leaves. Heritage is actually growing on my after several listens, but Damnation just fails to do it. NO GRAOOOWWWWLS!

opeth has something unique that i think most of the people find it very good and interesting : every album of opeth has its unique "rythem" or "personal genere" the makes it different from the other albums. in every album theres a stain of the things and thought that went through the band members mind at the time.... and those combination of thought and events will never come twice.. this is one of the many things i LOVE about opeth. thier stain in every album, the dirt, the feeling...
