You teaching him will make u a better rider as well. I agree having known how to drive a clutch since I was like 12 it was easy at 27 to jump in and tackle a bike. But good looking out for your buddy ! Ride safe and with gear. Us Kawasaki guys don't like to be grouped with squids
@we5leyz pretty much yea, similar, but the handling will feel allot different on a street bike then a dirt bike, but being fimilier with the controls already will put you miles ahead of most new riders.
hahahah i never drove manual when i took the test i was the one holding up 2 day course stalling out every take off . I didnt get the bike yet looking for a nice 250r or 500r
Wow, you actually do a good job teaching him. Most people on Youtube are like, "here's my R1, have a good time!" Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd we see how that works out.
Ny were? I taught myself to drive a bike a 13. I had a 110cc manual pocket bike. I learned in about a hour. Now I'm 17 and have a cbr929 (2002). It's so much fun.
engine braking doesnt hurt the trans tho. its better and safer that way... stay in gear so you could also quickly accelerate if you have to. i always keep it in gear until revs drop to like 1000rpm in my car (while braking ofcourse)
so im curious can you kill the engine on a motorcycle? Like is it similar to a manual vehicle? If its not similar is there still a way to kill the motorcycle to where you would have to start the motorcycle again?
im gonna pull the throttle like 3/4 back, and just drop the clutch! ill be fine ... nothin will happen.......well... except a few injuries..............maybe death who knows hahaha
I have a question man. I have been riding dirtbikes my whole life and I am really good at riding them but would it be a bad ideo to start riding a Ninja ZX6R because I want to ride fast and have that ability but at the same time I want the best for me. Thanks and GREAT video!!!!
my dirtbike always dies when im trying to start from first. I have to get the perfect amount of throttle going or it'll just shut off. Are sportbikes like the ninja anything like that? Cuz im thinking of getting one soon and I don't wanna worry about it shutting off right at a green light
@TheRealFuzzySalsaa When the engine shuts off like that it's called a "stall". (The engine dies.) What that means is that you just let the clutch out too fast.
@we5leyz I wont have the car long enough to worry about having to replace the gearbox by changing down gears. also, you only shift down at lower speeds, so it doesnt over rev or anything, its hardly any pressure.
so slowing down with engine then changing down > coasting.
@we5leyz no wonder most US driving licenses are not valid in the EU. Coasting any big distance will fail your test as you're not considered in control of the car, especially downhill. When stopping, you want to push the clutch in as late as possible and when coming down from higher speeds, a little engine braking helps.
You'll only wear out the tranny if you drop the clutch and engine brake hard. Also, coasting saves fuel as the engine is not in the higher revs.
When he said "I'm not THAT comfortable with a manual yet," it clarified a lot lol I'm trying to teach my friend how to ride, who has little to no experience with a manual transmission, and he looked (and sounded) very similar to her haha thanks for the vid though, it gave me a few tips to help explain to my friend better haha
@we5leyz ah gotcha. im still saving up for my bike. so ive watched like all ur bike vids along with rebelyell and m13's vids. i think ill just get a gloss black bell arrow helmet with the darkest black tint possible. lol and an 08 or 09 ninja250 to start off. man im ready!
@twitchkillin It was the ninja 250. but im not sure if im gunna get a bike down here in cali. just drivin on the roads as a passenger is scary enough!
hey great good on the video man i have never ridin a bike before and just from watching this video i see its not that easy but i will practice like he did
Thanks for the video man, I just bought a 250R and I've never been on a bike. I'll have somebody help me like this, but the video is a great plus - Thanks again!
Great learning bike. I got mine about a month ago, stock 2011. It's my first bike and never previously rode before, and riding it came naturally. It took me about an hour to get the hang of it. It's all about respecting the bike, and respecting the danger it wields, wether it's 250cc's or 1000cc's.
@NebraskaBlakshirts Every rider has told me the same thing, Go to a shop and sit on some bikes, if the 250 feels small then maybe try a 500 or 600 to start, the 250 should be fine but the only way you will know for sure is to go sit on one. Most bikers I have talked to have said always start on a 250 to get all the basics down as they are much more forgiving and you become a better rider working your way up than starting with something you won't feel as comfortable on.
I am getting a Kawasaki 250r in a couple weeks, but i'm not really sure how to down shift. I do drive a manual, but no one has taught me to down shift.
@Fasterthangravity you break untill your in the rpm range of the gear lower, then you downshift, then break until in the lower gear range then downshift. Etc...
hey...what model motorcycle jacket is that? i love ICON. ^_^
thanks for the video. i just got my license and rode my cousins 600cc ninja. it was amazing, but i think i should start with a 250r. can you explain how to make the turns. i was having a hard time with a sports bike. =/ thanks again
@USFCARTWRIGHT If you are concerned about how you will look, you probably shouldn't be getting into motorcycling. That's just not the right reason to ride a bike...not at all.
haha crazy man he learned fast.. and i cant wait for someone to teach me... : / haha great video man.. dont want to sound like a.. well you know.. but in 2:56 is it me or does it say "BJ's"? haha im sorry couldnt stop laughing once i saw it.. :) but great vid man i think for me for not knowing much i think i am learning from this thanks! :)
@we5leyz how tall is danny? im asking because im 5"2 and they say that this bike has a lower seat for shorter riders like myself. and it looked like he was tip toeing.
@sevinfold on a 250? Oh yeah!! Unless someone lets you just practice on it. Not much for us tall people (im 6ft 5 inch). I purchased a Kawasaki Mean Streak for my first bike and I felt cramped, but it was enough for two years to get practice on. Then I purchased a Yamaha Raider. If you want a sport bike I understand that the 1000 and 1300 bikes have more room, but THEY ARE NOT FOR BEGINNER RIDERS!!
so this would be a good bike to start on? and how hard is it to learn without much help, like any classes or somthing that you could take if you dont have any friends to teach you?
@Vahsoo I highly recommend the MSF course. Everything I learned is from MSF books, manuals and MSF videos. I would of took the course but I couldn't afford it at the time, so instead I just studied my ass off.
Very good video, i learn very much from your video thnks!!, and i have a question...how much cost your bike?..cause i´m from Colombia and i´m gonna be in u.s.a. and i really want to know how much money i got to make jeje. again thnks!!!
ive been on both ends of this but when your starting out i would have told him to not even wory about the front brake becuse thats how i wrecked my first ninja i went to pull in the brake and i accelerated and freaked out and went down but i was only 15 and dumb hes smarter than that
can ne1 help me and my friend were goin bak and fourth arguing bcuz he's lookin to get a bike and he's 6'0 about 280lbs and he's sayin that he's gonna start off with a 250 now im like ur gonna look stupid on that but he wants it should he get that or just go and get a 600??? ( and he's quite capable of learning how to ride a 600 )
@vicp1990 the max weight on a ninjka 250 is i think 360lbs ....i am 6'0 260lb and i was thinking about ninja 250, but i say go with a 500cc...the suzuki gs500f is a sport bike that is 500cc can take his weight and size is more upright position and the handle bars are more like straight and comfortable. thats what im leaning towards
I thought the same thing. Good friend right there. He really should take the MSF course to get alot of the basics down under open safe conditions, but good job instructing him.
@we5leyz what about 6'0' tall people? i am 16, 200lbs and 6 foot tall.....I've never driven a motorcycle, but only once on a dirt bike. i know they are 2 entirely different machines bt perform the same basic concept of it. Idk anything about bikes and was wondering if you or anyone else could help me out, some tips, hints, and what would be a good beginner bike.
@thawere You might want to try a bigger bike like the 650r. The 250r looks very tiny with someone of your height riding. I'm 5'6 and I'm more proportioned on the 250, almost perfect.
Although, it's not a bad idea to start on the 250 and upgrade once you have mastered it. The resale value is almost the same.
@androwi97 ive watched so many how to videos on youtube from starting the bike to shifting to changing oil and brake pads that i feel i could ride it home from the dealer.
would you recommend this bike fro beginner?

@TheRealFuzzySalsaa Street bike clutches engage a lot smoother then dirtbikes. On a street bike you don't need to give any gas to get moving.

What is he talking about at the end? "it's better to put it into neutral rather than engine brake because..."
That will wear the brakes out really quickly.
GeorgeHurst08 8 months ago
@GeorgeHurst08 He's talking about cars
we5leyz 8 months ago
@GeorgeHurst08 So you rather wear down your transmission instead of brake pads? Hmm
we5leyz 8 months ago
@we5leyz i usually do coast anyway, unless im going above 40, if im doing above 40 ill engine brake down to around 25-30 then coast.
GeorgeHurst08 8 months ago
@we5leyz oh, and i forgot to say, coasting uses more fuel than being in gear when not on the accelerator.
GeorgeHurst08 8 months ago
@GeorgeHurst08 So you rather save gas and wear down your transmission faster? The tranny will cost more in the long run.
we5leyz 8 months ago
@we5leyz I wont have the car long enough to worry about having to replace the gearbox by changing down gears. also, you only shift down at lower speeds, so it doesnt over rev or anything, its hardly any pressure.

can ne1 help me and my friend were goin bak and fourth arguing bcuz he's lookin to get a bike and he's 6'0 about 280lbs and he's sayin that he's gonna start off with a 250 now im like ur gonna look stupid on that but he wants it should he get that or just go and get a 600??? ( and he's quite capable of learning how to ride a 600 )
vicp1990 1 year ago
@vicp1990 I say he goes with the ninja 500r, cuz hes way to big for a 250 and a 600 just might be a little much for a beginner.

Would that exhaust system (sounds epic btw) slow down the bike or decrease the max speed?
WhAtDaFaKiii 1 year ago

LOL @ the nervous "Oh god..." at about 1:38. You're a good bud loaning your bike to your friend to learn on.

I thought the same thing. Good friend right there. He really should take the MSF course to get alot of the basics down under open safe conditions, but good job instructing him.

@projekt89130 Lol, I made him buy his own 250, not use mine

@we5leyz Am I going to be comfortable on this bike if I am 5 foot 7 tall ?
madedd02 1 year ago
@madedd02 Yes, I am 5'7 with boots. People like us look perfectly proportional on this bike.
we5leyz 1 year ago
@we5leyz hehe :) Thanks! I am getting it for my first bike then !
madedd02 1 year ago
@we5leyz what about 6'0' tall people? i am 16, 200lbs and 6 foot tall.....I've never driven a motorcycle, but only once on a dirt bike. i know they are 2 entirely different machines bt perform the same basic concept of it. Idk anything about bikes and was wondering if you or anyone else could help me out, some tips, hints, and what would be a good beginner bike.
thawere 1 year ago
@thawere You might want to try a bigger bike like the 650r. The 250r looks very tiny with someone of your height riding. I'm 5'6 and I'm more proportioned on the 250, almost perfect.
Although, it's not a bad idea to start on the 250 and upgrade once you have mastered it. The resale value is almost the same.

@we5leyz Alright, thanks man appreciate you tip. have safe riding.

@androwi97 Check and see if there are any Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes in your area.
