It is a very sad story the events of chernobyl , unfornately unit 4 will never be declared safe , however the other units are now being dismantled slowly. but i know from watching a documentary on closing reactors it can take 10 years before a core can be completely removed and while it happens control room staff must still montor the core even though inactive as it is still dangerous.
