  • Damn it now I gotta watch the four hour extended cut

  • Uhhh roshack english voice is lot better than spanish dubbing.

  • watchmen will be remembered for "man with blue balls" :)

  • this is a good movie but the ending should have stayed true to the comic...the films ending is flawed because it causes the disaster to be blamed on Dr. Manhattan, who was the U.S. nuclear deterrent; therefore, surely if he was to supposedly go rogue the Russians would surely blame the U.S. and they'd all be back to square one! Moore knew this so he chose to have Adrian create a third party to take the blame...a giant monster from space!!

  • @samisacool1 But by having Dr Manhattan attack an American city (I.E. New York) then it would appear the United States was dealing a rogue super hero/god. I liked the graphic novel a lot, but I think the movie ending was far more believable, and far more in line with the story. The monster from space ending in the G.N. was a bad example of deus ex machina (the story device, not the game) and was arguably the weak point in an otherwise great work.

  • Wow, this film portrays an entirely different film to the one actually made

  • cool

  • alot of people just said it was stupid because they didnt see the big picture.everything was carfully orchistrated by one man to make the world at peace,i meen comeon, didnt anyone else but a handful of people see what kind of world their living in?the only thing i didnt get is at the end noone knows the smart guy was behind it.and rorshack wrote everything in that journal and they published it in the paper.doesnt that mean that the people find out in the end and this was all for nothing?

  • @SUICIDALezFOX no u see rorshack didnt get the chance to write the ending and how it all went down at the end cuz "spolier alert" hes dead

  • Watchmen is how comic book movies should be, A FAITHFUL ADAPTATION WITH INTELLIGENCE, STYLE, DRAMATIST, AND LOVE FOR THE COMIC.

  • WATCHMEN!!! IS F#$%!# AWESOME!!!!!!

  • I've already seen the movie and this trailer STILL gives me goosebumps.

  • @jhonelliej Me too man! This is a superb trailer, when Muse starts, I get goosebumps for the rest of it!

  • Amazing trailer and even better song. I love the ending too. One of the best movie quotes I've ever heard.

  • what is this amazing song called

  • Pruitt Igoe by Phillip Glass, its from the movie called Koyaanisqatsi

  • @chevygearhead454

    look @ the information ;)

  • Well, the movie ended up being better than Moore's comic, in my opinion. And it's kind of oddly hypocritical for a radical Left-leaning anarchist to be trying to quash the artistic efforts of others - based on the capitalist concept of intellectual property rights no less.

  • Glass is always amazing, his pieces can be used in movies like the Illusionist and in this case, in Watchmen...

  • This movie was epic. First movie in a long time that I can truly call that.

  • I can't believe all the haters there are... this was a great movie. Watchmen has just gotten to big for some people's private little pockets.

  • Some people can't comprehend the deepness of the story. Some people can't get past the fact that it's more than a superhero movie. Some people can't get past Doctor Manhattan's nudity.

  • long movie but it was good!

  • After seeing mixed reviews for the movie, I want to kknow (based on consensus) is it worth watching? I thought that V for Vendetta was excellent. I know that it's a diffrent director.

  • Yes, you MUST see this movie, It's fantastic! My opinion at least

  • You should definitely see it if you haven't already (seeing as the post is 2 weeks old I wouldn't know).

Many people don't like it because it doesn't have ALL the complexity of the original, but that was also true with Lord of the Rings, which received much less of that argument. It is the most faithful novel-movie adaptation out there, and even most haters don't deny it's an entertaining and complex movie.

I have critiques, of course, but I think overall it's a great experience.

  • its a fantastic movie - see it

  • the movie is GOD

  • I like the trailer to watchmen so much more than the actual movie.

If you haven't already, read the book, it's amazing how much better it is.

  • yeah... hollywood has to bastardize everything alan moore writes. the film is absolute rubbish.

  • Watchmen was not rubbish! In fact, it is the most faithful adaptation of an alan moore graphic novel I have ever watched. The theme and tone were spot on in the movie, and the characters were performed quite well. I have read the graphic novel, and I can say I am a fan of alan moore. I can also say that the Watchmen film was NOT rubbish. But if thats what you think, thats your opinion. I am just expressing mine.

  • well, in my opinion, there is no way to adapt Watchmen. it's unfilmable. you may argue that it's already been done... but this isn't Watchmen, it's a movie pretending to be. there's just so much depth inside of the comic that it's just impossible. the reason the comic was created was to show that comics can do things that movies can't... the fact that hollywood's made such a thing destroys it completely. Alan Moore is right to distance himself from hollywood. they ruin everything for him.

  • My only problem with this argument is this:

This is Zach Snyder's vision, not Hollywood's. And he never claimed this was a true adaptation of Watchmen and all that it is.

It is merely an interpretation. If you don't like it, it's fine, but it's actually trying, unlike most other comic book movies.

It will do for comic book movies what the original Watchmen did for comic books, and that's saying something.

A movie with this level of faith, even if not 100% or even 95%, is not absolute rubbish.

  • "This is Zach Snyder's vision, not Hollywood's."

i don't think you understand. Zach Snyder is hollywood. anything made in hollywood is made by hollywood... all the multi-million dollar budget american movies are made in hollywood. i'm saying that this movie goes against everything Watchmen stands for. it's not supposed to be a movie. it was never meant to be a movie, and Alan Moore wished it not to be a movie. he wrote the damn thing, and he should have had a say in whether it was adapted.

  • Allow me to describe what I meant by that.

It was an artistic vision by a person rather than a corporate attempt to make money.

I also believe Alan Moore is kind of overatted.

Honestly, he is a great writer, but a lot of people don't realize that he does make mistakes because they're spending too much time looking at him like a god.

Watchmen was not meant to be a movie, you're right.

But it was going to be made into a movie no matter what. It was inevitable. At least appreciate it for being -

  • - a genuine, artistic interpretation rather than another comic book movie.

  • it IS a corporate attempt to make money. have you seen what else they made out of his comics? V for Vendetta, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell... these are amazing comics, and shitty movies, because people thought they were bankable. they always call it an "artistic representation" but they're always always ALWAYS in it for the money. hollywood is a scared place, and they won't ever do anything without knowing it'll pay off big-time in the end. thinking it's about money is naive.

  • Yes, the movie would never have been made if executives hadn't thought it would be bankable.

But there's a difference between developers and publishers, artists and companies, and their philosophies.

Zach Snyder isn't a movie executive, he's a director. He's on the 'artist' end of the spectrum, and he's respecting Alan Moore's work. If you don't like it, that's fine. I loved the book too.

I just have a problem with people viewing this movie as some sort of bastardization.

  • Because I can relate to putting my heart and soul into something and people assuming it's plastic.

  • but he's NOT respecting moore's work... if he respected his work, the movie wouldn't have been made in the first place. don't you see? making this movie goes against everything watchmen stands for as a comic book. it's the worst thing anybody could've ever done to it. no matter how faithful it is to the comic, the fact that it is a movie now IS the bastardization.

  • Alan Moore wanted to prove that the genre of comic books could be used to something as compelling as Watchmen.

I don't believe he would have a problem with movies being based on his novels if it weren't for the fact that the movies they made weren't faithful.

Watchmen is faithful. Alan Moore refuses to see it because he's a dick, but it's also understandable because of his previous experiences with movies based on his novels.

I'm not telling you to like the movie or like the fact it's made -

  • - I just want you to acknowledge that this movie still has soul, it's not just a plastic Hollywood comic book movie.

But honestly, I don't really care either way. That's what I -want- you to do, but maybe you shouldn't and I know you won't. So, I'm done debating.

  • you're done? i'll respect that. i mean, i just want to say, Alan Moore said he wanted Watchmen to prove that comics can do things that film can't... and i suppose this proves it. Watchmen isn't faithful... the fact that it was made just violates that. ffs, they changed the ending for goodness sake and left out countless details. if you're looking for faithful comic book adaptations, watch Sin City. that's the perfect adaptations. but like you, yeah, i guess i'm done too.

  • I agree..if you haven't read the comics, the movie plot seems confusing. I loved the soundtrack and the visuals, but the plot was awful. I was disappointed personally.

  • how and why do you say that? this is a real question i really just want to know why you think that way..no harm intented but yea why do you feel it should not be a movie?

  • because i believe the original author should be the judge of whether his work should be adapted into a movie or not. Alan Moore never had that choice, about any of his works that have been adapted. he didn't want it to be a movie, and i stand by him when he said that. it's not fair to him.

  • oo ok understandable

  • er, thinking it's NOT about money :p

  • Yes, but for people who haven't read the graphic novel (Or comic book..whatever you call it) Find this movie very good.

I can understand what you mean...if I were a fan of the graphic novel/comic book I would probably agree. (Sorry for cutting int oyour discussion with someone else. Just wanted to give my opinion on it.)

  • of course you find it good... it's like you're stuck on a deserted island with no food. if you find shitty food, even THAT tastes good, because you don't have any. unlike if you lived in civilization/read the comic and know of the original author's wishes, then shitty food tastes like shit. y'know what i mean? i dunno, i think i worded it wrong. whatever.

  • Yeah, that's kind of what I was refering to.

Even if I do find the book to be better...I'll always like the movie. Its just my opinion I was just saying that I can respect where you're coming from.

  • thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • the opening scene w/ The Comidian was the best scene

  • there are 3 main songs for watchmen

    1. smashing pumpkins - the beginning is the end

    2. phillip glass - pruit igoe & prophecies

    3. muse - take a bow

  • Was the Glass song originally written for Fog of War?

  • I thought it was for koyaanisqatsi? Maybe not...

  • i want that soundtrack wich begins at 1:00

  • 1. song: Phillip Glass - Pruit Igoe

    2. song: Smashing Pumpkins - The Beginning is the End

  • no, the second song is Take A Bow - Muse

  • Dr manhattan is God

  • I have walked on the sun,

Dr Manhattan" brilliant, Hendrix , Joplin, Cohen and more wonderful soundtarck

  • hahahah the song at :57 Is on GTA 4 on "The Journey" radio

  • I strongly suggest reading the novel first and then see the movie. The movie is quite good, but it just can't beat the novel. So much more background info, so much more style...

  • Amazing movie

  • Your an asshole you needle-dick blah blah blah. Touch me I'm gay and lonely

  • Haha, you give me the impression of a unsatisfied kid without any goals or dreams, who just want's to be a "cool" internet hero spamming ugly comments about other people.

Look into yourself and see how you would have commented yourself.

Next time, please write something that is not hateful words and threats, but try to state your opinion in a mature way.

  • Does anyone know what the song is that plays during this Trailer? I tried looking at the soundtrack but. :|

  • Wow I feel moronic, never mind.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "tried to looking at the soundtrack", but what I DO NOT understand, is why people don't check the "(more info)" button to the right!

Please don't be lazy, and do a little research before asking stupid questions.

If you are retarded, and can't use your hands and fingers to maneuver the mouse above the "(more info)" button, please use your eyes instead, and read the following text:

    Philip Glass - Prophecies

    Philip Glass - Pruitt Igoe

    Muse- Take a Bow

  • ... I replied to myself stating that I had noticed it there. Typically, video Posters don't list off the songs in Trailers. Gebus, bitch.

  • I didn't see your self-answer when I wrote my comment. I suppose there was a delay in the posting process.

  • *** SPOILER WARNING, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE DO NOT READ THIS ***

It was such a shame that Rorschach had to die in the end. To me, he was what kept the movie peaking all the way through.

Having said that, the movie was terrific. Though it did sadden me that both my favs had to go. (Comedian and Rorschach.)

    *** THANK YOU ***

  • he died in the comic at the end too. duh. thats why it was so good, it doesnt mean anything if a character you have no attachment to dies.

  • I didn't enjoy Rorshach's character until a little before he was jailed; I found him too annoyingly paranoid, especially with the ridiculous grammatical statements.

I hated the Jupiter girls. Fucking whores, bothers me even now. Poor Night Owl, and Dr. Manhattan. <3

  • Correction - in your opinin, the movie sucked. There are alot of fans who love it, as well as people who haven't ven hard of Watchmen beore they saw the film. Saying a film ' sucked' just because you didn't like it or didn't understand it is stupid.

  • *Claps hands and removes cigar*

  • I agree.

When I saw The Watchmen movie, I had never heard of it before, but when I saw the movie I felt "blessed"! :P

IMO it's a masterpiece, especially everything about Dr. Manhattan.

  • You have to see this movie, just for the way that Rorschach is portrayed. It's like Heath and the Joker.

See it just for Rorschach, he keeps the movie good.

    gogogo Watchmen!

  • this movie was ok...wasnt the best DC movie

  • best movie i have seen.. you have to see it..

  • Or you could just watch all the trailers and save yourself the disappointment - style over substance. Big time.

  • Saw this yesterday, great film!

  • this song is da shit

  • Saw this movie 3 times at the theaters so far lol -- worth every penny.

  • Whats the song thats like Cast a spell on the country you love. Cause i love that! I wanna see this so bad!!!!! FUCK!

  • What is the song being played at the beginning of the trailer?

  • It's by Phillip Glass its part of Pruit Igoe and another song Prophecies (in the middle of the song).

  • its a quasi-remake. its sorta like a remix i guesss

  • this film kicked ass

  • ride of the valkyries by budapest orchetra

  • Poor Moe.

And if you've read the novel completely, you'll know what I mean.

  • i knew this song was by muse!

  • Does anyone know what this song is called?

  • its called take a bow by muse on the knights of cyndonia album. ur Welcome :)

  • wrong its from black holes and revolations actualy

  • All songs are in the description

  • ride of the valkyries... thats the title

  • They finally made the film. OH NO!

  • It won't break records but hell if it looks cool then w/e besides the story is over all to confusing to present to the average audience they will brand it as "confusing" or "over complex" . and yes its aimed at 14 year old boys for a reason the people who are obsessed enough with it to care are to few or too unwilling to go into sunlight to see it.

  • I've been out of the house 16 times since 2005 -- I love the internet! I work at home, do my banking and shopping online, etc. But, I do believe in supporting the few things that are still important to me. I went out to see "Wanted", "Spirit", "The Dark Knight", and the sun was out each time. lol... I am NOT sitting this one out -- In fact, my "Watchmen" alarm was set to 03.06.09 during the previews preceeding the showing of "The Dark Knight" -- omg, that song! "The Beginning is..." AWESOME!!!

  • I don't really mind his voice. I mean it doesn't sound as bad as Christian Bale's was in The Dark Knight. If there was anything that made The Dark Knight seem stupid it was Batman's voice. Overall though that movie was amazing and Watchmen will be too. MARCH 6TH 2009!!!!! =)

  • ah crap! this movie will be worth a download but i hate it that he has the "batman" voice! it ruins it all!!! why does he have to have a voice like that?

  • because it hyas to be. he's the mysterious one

  • MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE fuck yes for MUSE MUSE is GOD MUSE fucking rocks!!!!!

  • this is gonna break records more than dark knight

  • I hate to say it, but I don't think it will.

  • ya i agree. it wont.

  • I also hate to say it, but I think Zach Snyder is a toolbox and this movie is going to be mostly lame in his hands. I think it's going to be presented at a 14 year old boy's level, and it will be more concerned with looking cool, than actually telling the story with anything resembling restraint or subtlety.

  • True, people who use words like "cool" and "super-important" to describe this comic series worry me.
