  • Ed looks like a fat old lady in this... haha

  • I love this band, but Ed's dancing in the beginning is just.... unacceptable.

  • THIS IS AWESOME! THANKS!

  • they had tapes back then before recording them to cds

  • i saw these guys back in saskatoon and they kicked some major ass.

  • is that a new drummer they got?

  • The version I saw live of this song in September in LA blows even this version away!

  • Awesome CS footage! Big fan from FL. My first concert of all time was '96 Valdosta GA Collective Soul and some bad called Rust! Collective Soul Rules!

  • It's common place for bands to tape lyrics to the floor in big bold letters so they remember them. I saw these guys last year in Vicksburg MS and the lyrics to Run were taped to the floor next to the set list...

  • ....your comment about having the "lyrics" taped on the stage and has to read the song title from the page? Where did you see this? Many bands have the set list for that evenings show taped on the floor of the stage, so if there was a sheet a paper you seen on the stage floor, it was that. He's not a dumb ass, he knows the lyrics to the songs. Ed wouldn't attempt to sing a song he didn't know the lyrics too.

  • Check it out.... At 1:03 you get the first clear view that there are 9 pages taped to the stage in front of Ed. The set list for the night is usually 1 page.

I think Ed Roland is a musical genius; but he probably just had the (3) new song's lyrics taped to the stage for one of the first times he's ever performed these live.

When Ed introduces the song "You" (at 4:15), he pauses talking and looks down to the paper for the song title. New songs, new titles. Hey, it's only Rock-n-Roll!

  • I'm not sure when this concert was, but in June in Idaho Ed had the lyrics to She Does on his rug and he gave them to me after the concert. It was one of the first times they had played the song. They also had the setlists taped to the ground in front of all the band members.

  • Love it! The new album has got me pretty excited.

  • Joel is a very capable guitarist and a nice guy in person but Ross had that catchy alternative hard rock guitar sound in the songs he wrote with them that made these guys stand out among other rock bands at the time. I like Joel but they have yet to write any rock anthems that has outsold anything in the Ross years yet. I hope the new album has some "major" hits. These guys deserve even more success. Theyve erned it.

  • Good to hear the original Collective Soul hard rock sound again. I had almost lost faith that they were a real hard rock band. I am sure they would like to try and regain the success of the triple platinum "Collective Soul" with the rocker "Gel" on it. Among others.

  • I love Dig! Cant freakin wait to hear it on the new album!

  • hope the new album goes over well

    great rock band

liked Afterwords, yet hollywood I thought a bit lame

  • Finally a Collective Soul fan that is not so biased in love with the band to see that the song "Hollywood" was a weak & stupid song. If The Jonas Brothers had done Hollywood I would not be dissapointed but Collective Soul had no business releasing that heaping pile of rotten pop candy gum called Hollywood. "Dig" is them doing what they do best. "New Vibration" is great too. Thanks for being an honest CS fan.

  • Ed's definitely got a talent for memorable melodys and hooks! They helped make Collective soul actually *the most played band* on the radio in the 1990's. They had the #1 hits "Shine", "December", "The World I Know", "Where The River Flows, "Precious Declaration", "Listen, and "Heavy".

#2 hits: "Gel" and "Why, Pt. 2".

Top-ten hits: "Smashing Young Man", "Needs", "Vent", "No More, No Less", "Counting the Days" and "Better Now".

  • Top 20 Hits: "Breathe", "Blame", "She Said", "Run", "How Do You Love" and "Staring Down".

And "Hollywood" (position #22), "Perfect Day", "Vent", "Tremble For My Beloved", "All That I Know", and "Welcome All Again" were also high on the radio charts.
