  • It's pretty stupid how people are arguing on a video dedicated to remembering men who died in this horrid battle. Please, show some respect.

  • A pity none can remember the gurkhas sacrifice. Being from the himalayas, they were ordered to sweep across appalling terrain in a direct assault on the monastery which failed. But later on somehow managing to hold on to Hangman's hill for 16 days with limited supplies whilst facing constant fire from the German 1st Parachute Division, which was described as one of the best fighting formations to ever take the field. Sad

  • my great great uncle fought in this battle

  • My great uncle died in this battle, he was only 21. God rest his soul.

  • The Allies famed effort during the battle of Monte Cassino was flatbedding the monastery and then fooling around with the Fallschirmjagers.............maybe the Allies commanders doesn't went to school, i thought.

  • @kerjaauto2 Haha, exactly. Allied army officer training couldn't compare to the german army officer training, obviously. Must the fallen heroes of both sides rest in peace.

  • @enest94 Thanks for the comments. Let's prays so that no WW3 coming.

  • @enest94 No certainly they couldnt compare, guess thats why the allies WON THE FUCKING WAR YOU DROP KICK,,,,,,,,

  • @Riyun72 The allies won because of overwhelming resources and manpower. American tactics in Europa was mainly "bomb the shit out of it with everything we got, then attack with ground forces". Germany barely had artillery or air support, but still they managed to put up a hell of a fight.

  • @enest94 Wow who do you think were behind these things? People called officers making decisions,,, They most certainly fooled the jerry commanders in regards to where the D day landings were to take place. Their higher command were fooled into thinking they would land north in Norway somewhere. They managed to hide the training and movements of hundreds of thousands of troops in England. Think this has to do with good commanders not just equipment. In the end they lost.

  • americans were idiots to bomb monte cassino

  • @brathurx Absolutely correct. Their commanders doesn't went to school.

  • my my grans dad was in this battle

  • americans can suck my dick i really dont support your sufferings in ww2 i really dont feel sorry for u fucks.u fucked up europe to communism and u supported the bolshevik jews so fuck u assholes.

    Long live the axis power!

    Honore! Ave europa seig heil!

  • @sheyon1000 Fuck you too.

  • @sheyon1000 the allies just prolonged the communism in europe with more than 40 years, when the axis could have destroyed it once and forever

  • @SkadTheReaper yes my friend i understand your opinion its just the allies fucked everything and boosted communism and we still have its effect on us today..just in a different name..mainly social democracy and the need for more socialism..

  • @SkadTheReaper Ah Skad! Always nice to hear from you.

  • @sheyon1000 Thanks to the likes of you, Nazism will never regain its past glory.

  • @Murmaks times change and ideologies will have to change too..but surely we can take a lot of fine things from national socialism.

  • @sheyon1000 You can take a lot of fine things from communism, democracy, anarchism... yes even feudalism ;)

The thing is though you should mix the best things from all systems rather than going for a pure one. It usually works a lot better and while National Socialism had some good aspects with it, the negative ones far outweighed the good ones.

  • My grandfathers Village was very near to Monte Cassino, he said the Germans would often pass through his town and the Tiger tanks would chew up the roads. The Americans bombed the Village frequently due to the Nazi occupation there and the high number of munitions trains that passed through the village. My Great Grandmother lived in Nekrasovo in The soviet union, the town was right on the border between Russia and Poland and she was captured as the Germans went through Poland to get to Russia.

  • kacke aus welchen film kenn ich die?

  • @MultiMuzzik

Es ist von 'Once Upon a time in the West' ich denke.

  • Jestem dumny z tego że jestem POLAKIEM!!!!!!

POLSKA TO NIEPOKONANY KRAJ WIELE WOJEN WYGRALIŚMY NIEKTÓRE PRZEGRALIŚMY ALE ZAWSZE WALCZYLIŚMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • the bombing of cassino was due to general freyberg,nz officer, born england,an error in judgement that stained his career, and gave german troops excllent cover

  • Who else read the Black Devil Brigade?

  • Monte Cassino actually marked a very stange event. It was the first time British infantry was issued with condoms in their gear! Many of them actually wrapped their equipment in the condoms to pretect it from water and once they met the locals many of them immediately tried to restore them to a "useful" condition! Strange eh?

  • Green Devils forever !!!!!

  • Monte Cassino wurde sinnlos von den Engländern zerstört. - Deutsche Soldaten retteten noch einige Kunstschätze.

  • My uncle died there when he was 19. Because of this fucking war I never knew half of my family. Today we buried an old man, I took care of him the last two years in an old people's home. He was regarded as a "difficult case", you know why? Every night he went back to this horrible place. But after all I'm grateful for sharing this. Painful but it makes me feel closer to my ancestors. Thank you. R.I.P. old friend!

  • POland attacked and murdered thousands of Germans, check Bloody Bromberg!Egged on by the Brits the dumb POLES tried ethnic cleansing on German Nationals,BIG MISTAKE! Hitler responded to polish aggression, but the Jews who owned poland came up with the sneak attack in Poland, exactly like Pearl Harbor.

  • Polish troops captured Monte Cassino, two weeks later won the Ancona. Shame that in 1939 no one helped poland, but Polish fought in many battles in the Battle międzyinnymi of Britain by including the most kills of German aircraft, which in addition to Britain declaring war on the Third Reich did not help in the fight for Poland, like France. Polish soldiers were the most for me bolder World War II soldiers, and I love this country, and I can proudly say that I am a Pole. Polish Thank you!

  • Monte Cassino will ever stay a crime of the allies. There was a monastry on the hills. And the Germans won´t have give upthere, if the allies wouldn´t bomb each squrecentimeter with heavy artillery and their B17´s down. After the war they tried to give the blame for the destruction of the monastry to the Germans. My Grandpa was at the Waffen-Elite and he was later as a POW in the hands of the americans. They tried everything that he would tell him, that the Germans blew M.C. up.

  • Pity that nobody mentions the sacrifices made by the Indian troops for the British Raj in ww-2 ...that includes monte cassino :(

  • If Poland was allowed to succeed the country would be on top. Unfortunately after decades of liquidating 100's of thousands of intelligencia (educated people) and emigration it is difficult. GERMANY GOT REPARATION money after WW2 and Poland did NOT! And look at Poland now! After 45 years of slavery under the soviets, we still came back. But even today we don't earn as much $ as the rest of Europe. We still need vistas to visit USA (as #2 strategic allies). If it was only a level playing field!

  • As phucked as Poland was in history, we always fought valiantly for our freedom and yours. We never bitched or complained and we put up with the harshest conditions ever. We were betrayed by all... And to this day i hear nazi propaganda repeated on Poles! I suggest you all read a book called "A question of Honor" which sent chills down my spine because i have heard many such things from my own family that survived the war. WW2 didn't end until 1989 when the Berlin wall fell down!!!

  • @p51spittinnails Yeah I see your point.

  • They fucking destroyed the abbey with civilians in it thinking it was made into an artillery observation post by the Germans. Only after dropping shitloads of bombs and turning the area into a wasteland did the German moved in and fortified the abbey. Stupid generals made things even more complicated.

  • @minh1905 Stupid doesn't seem to be the right word choice here. Ignorant perhaps because they did not know enough information to get a clear view on the situation. They most certainly were not stupid. They did the best they could with the information that was given to them. It's war, sometimes your intel is wrong.

  • fighting for Allies, this was big polish mistake, fuck these all allies.

  • excellent video, nice pictures of the italian campaign and awesome music: Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone

  • HOW ABOUT RAPES MADE BY FRENCH COLONIAL TROOPS?

HYSTORY IS WRITTEN BY WINNERS. REMEMBER.

  • @capvtmvndi90

what about rapes by german soldiers in my country, by soviet soldiers, what about ukrainian massacre on Poles, what about that you all SOLD us to soviets for 45 years. You didn't even say ''thank you''. now russia is cool I see, germany same... glory and fame to us. we saved the world at vienna, at warsaw 1920, and did much in wwII.

  • @Pawioss19 Poland that has not made useful in WW2, and the Polish soldiers were gun meat in hands of allies. Also Poland has taken a hand at section of Czechoslovakia in 1938

  • @Vanyaaynav

gun meat who won almost every battle? learn to history, czechoslovakia? learn to histtory, they stolen Zaolzie from us when we fought in 1920 vs bolsheviks(also saved the world) today is 91 anniversary.

    you didnt even say thx

  • @Pawioss19 Poles have not won any battle independently in WW2. Dodeusha Kostyushko army has been armed by the Soviet weapon and without red army was not fighting unit.

  • @Vanyaaynav

Yeah, thats what happens when your country is occupied.

  • @serialkiller1990 Your country is borrowed

  • @serialkiller1990 Destruction of monastery Monte Cassino by the American aircraft on yours it is good?

  • @Vanyaaynav The destruction of Monte Cassino was an accident, the Germans had promised the monks they would not use it, we thought they were using it as an observation post to call down artillery so we bombed it. After that the rubble turned into a perfect fortress and the Germans went in and occupied it and...turned it into an observation post to call down artillery.

  • @Astartes19 Americans have destroyed a historical monument of architecture together with local residents and monks. So barbarians act only. How you can explain or justify destruction of Dresden together with peace inhabitants?

  • @Vanyaaynav The residents fled and the monks were not there, The Germans may not have used Monte Cassino to begin with but they sure as hell looted the shit out of it. War is not a game Van, its not funny. The Axis did everything possible to conquer and enslave the world and the Allies had to do everything possible to stop it.

In war civilians of the enemy are not innocent they work the factories for the war machines, both sides bombed cities and the Allies won. U.S. rebuilt Monte Cassino BTW.

  • @Astartes19 You say lies or at you inexact data. I saw interview of several Italian inhabitants of witnesses of tragedy in Monte Cassino they approve that more than hundred peace inhabitants and several monks were lost under fragments of a monastery. In Dresden there were peace people and destruction of peace people cannot be justified-it a crime.

''SAVING MY PRIVATES" (2011 - tom hanks)

a MUST see video. you need a good stomach - added yesterday

  • Voytek. A smoking, alcholic, wrestling warrior bear that caught an enemy spy in Palestine and supplied munitions to Polish troops in the battle of Monte Cassino.

    Now that is fucking awesome.

  • Why the theme opening song from Jackass Number Two?

  • i i gree with you @nazisbitethedust

  • i dont understand why not only shell them and box them in?

  • over 50,000 americans died in this battle.

  • @DJonX7 Considering total Allied fatalities where between 40-60'000 For this battle I find your figure highly unlikely... In fact throughout the whole of WW2 in all theaters American military deaths stand at around 420 thousand, besides the biggest loss of American life is at the battle of the bulge and that was only 20'000 dead. Out of curiosity where did you get this figure from?... My Granddad served briefly under Gen Clarke, in his opinion the worst Allied general in WW2.

  • @Delogros the total allied losses were 55,000 the germans lost 20,000. the Fallschirmjäger were outnumbred under intence air raids, artillery fire dug in and held. they were elite troops much like the waffen ss they held there groung intill it ended. my grandfather served in the waffen ss divison wiking.

  • @waffenss893 Why are you telling me? i already know this :S - i have great respect for the German military of the period - as much as i may disagree with what they where fighting for there ability's and bravery can't be dismissed or ignored.

  • @Delogros well y say to DJonX7 that the yanks didant lose 50,000 troops?.

  • @russkits Why this sentence ? My aunt, a child, died in the hospital during this battle, another, now old, is sick, not surgeon for the operation, when my granfather arrived, all the city, the hospital, was destroyed. Why this sentence ?

  • i wAS WITH THE 995 FIELD ARTILLERY NEAR MT. TROCIO UNTL THE FINAL BREAK THROUGH MAY 11 1944 GEORGE CAPPUCCIO ANGCAPP@VERIZON.NET

  • Glory to the brave Allied troops !!

  • Not only Monte Cassino was the battle that shown the true manhood of Allies, but also an incredible story of a soldier bear - Wojtek - who was a Syrian brown bear adopted by Polish soldiers he was officially drafted into the Polish Army and was listed among the soldiers of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company of the Polish II Corps. With the company he moved to Iraq and then through Syria, Palestine, Egypt and to southern Italy to literally help the humankind in fighting against Fascism.

  • @WojtekSoldierBear What are you talking about! manhood of the allies Cassino was a tragedy for all those who fought in that terrible campaign,no such thing as glory the best of all generations were slaughtered at Cassino, next time if you ever visit the town look at how young the soldiers were, they never had a chance to live nor grow old ! this is reality not a football game.

  • @WojtekSoldierBear manhood of the allies yea. they lost 55,000 troops and the Fallschirmjäger lost 20,000 troops and they were under untence air raids and artillery fire and they dug in. im not saying the alleis were not good but really it shows the manhood of the Fallschirmjäger. not the alleis.

  • @WojtekSoldierBear now its time to fight corporate fascism in Poland. will the poles do it too ?

  • all countries in WWII done well even Poland conqered but they never surrender. but the monte cassino... i think it was an honor for them to fight by allied side. By the way I don't blame Germans for 1939. Hitler was Bad person And... Dictactor so he could do waht he wanted. but i do blame Stalin becouse that was his aim to Invade Poland. Hitler though asked us to join him against the Comunists(like he done with czehoslovakia, hungary e.t.c) hail to the fallen soldiers of monte cassino

  • POLISH ARMY IS THE BEST OF THE WORLD.

  • When Germans bombing allied hiding when UK bombing Germans hiding when US bombing everyone hiding.... one of the true from WW2

  • When Germans bombing allied hiding when UK bombing Germans hiding when US bombing everyone hiding.... one of the true from WW2

  • thanks to all the allies, especally the polish, but this was an allied victory ever alied country tok part never forget that.

  • Thanks to the germans, a lot of christian art has been saved in Montecassino before the bombing. They took everything from Montecassino and brought it to Rome.

Fucking americans, you have destroyed a lighthouse of christianity.

  • @praetorianus72 It's actually the Brits who insisted and bombed the monastery. US commanders didn't want it, for fear that German paratroopers would use the ruins to their advantage. And they were right!

Germans had left the monastery untouched, but after the bombing they settled a strong defensive position in the ruins

  • @bidon3332000 So I should say fucking britishs. Germans had much more respect for art and history, and they showed their respect in Montecassino by helping saving christian art and manuscrits before the bombing

  • @praetorianus72 What a stupid comment. I mean yes its terrible to see something that old destroyed but it was war. The Germans did the same kind of thing many times during the war. They nearly wiped Warsaw off the map and they started the war to begin with. It was a mistake to bomb cassino no doubt, but shit happens and every country made its share of mistakes during the war.

  • @praetorianus72 Oh and something else you forgot to mention is that the Brits wanted the abbey bombed because they thought it was going to be used for an artillery observation which is reasonable. So not all the fault is with the americans on that one.

  • F..k you - Polish :)

  • @draha39 italian solgiers sorender :)

  • @draha39 draha spierdalaj huju jebany

  • @draha39 niigeerrrrrrrrrrr wats uppppppp

  • my grandad wos from poland and he wos at the battle of monte cassino. i do mind a way back in 1980 we where watch the word at war and the first time i seeing my grandad cried about this and it wos the last time i seeing my grandad cried to. R.I.P grandad.

  • @MrMushyhead my grandparents lived there during the war and had to flee their homes

  • It's amazing to think that each one of these persons had family, friends, plans for the future.. Now they are nothing more then part of a collage of pictures followed by the epic song Ecstacy of Gold, it gives me the chills.

  • The Italian campaign has demonstrated the critical importance of the Allied armies of liberation of occupied countries. before the Anglo-American failure to break through the Gustav Line, the Polish and Free French (Even Italian kingdoom) forces have achieved victory.

"Unfortunately," the Italian victory at the front did not have the recognition it deserves since it coincided with the D-Day.

  • whatever... hitler was right ! we europeans are since 1945 fucking dead. actually i was looking for "morricone", but reality is a bitch, as our history

  • Poor men, they did their best.. and for what?

  • Peak 593 was taken by a Georgian, commanding the 4th Battalion

  • my grandad fought this battle with the british

  • FALLSCHIRMJÄGER, the greatest soldiers of all time, feared and respected by their enemies, idolized and celebrated by their own people and their allies. They held out stongly in the forests of Germany and in North Italy until the very end, they fought for their country and the man standing beside him as a brother-in-arms. Heroes to some, villains to others, but never the less unforgettable and truely remarkable. The world will never know a more formidable fighting force than the Fallschirmjägers

  • @Dauserofdasite TRUE

  • @Dauserofdasite

They were remarkable soldiers. General Alexander wrote to Churchill, "The tenacity of these German paratroops is quite remarkable, considering they were subjected to the whole Mediterranean Air Force plus the better part of 800 guns under greatest concentration of firepower which has ever been put down and lasting for six hours.I doubt if there are any other troops in the world who could have stood up to it and then gone on fighting with the ferocity they have.

  • @TheCheshire2009 My great-grandfather was just in the Wehrmacht but in letters he wrote to my great grand-mother he said how if his unit was fighting, they wanted either the support of the Waffen SS simply because their fanaticism to Nazi Germany winning was so high that they fought with great ferocity and skill or even more prefered were the Fallschirmjägers simply because they were trained in a way that was much more demanding then any other branch of the military in Germany during WWII.

  • hey Thestar1122 wot do u wana know?

  • Excellent, merci...

  • I still dont get this and I have BIG project on it :(

can someone pleeease help me :(

  • POLISH ARMY AND CANADIENthe are the one too ween opver germani in cassino tank you hall for de freedom ed for you sacrifice

  • @iammatteonino grazie>

  • My great grandmother told me stories about ww2. She expirienced both world wars. The Germans used her house as a hospital. Odd thing is that her husband served in the Italian military during ww2. Facist or not I don't know. He passed away when I was very young. My great grandmother last year at 97.

  • @guitar241990 i am sorry for your loss guitar241990!

  • @yourmortalenemy167

That's very kind thank you so much

  • my grandad was in this battle, his name was Frankichester Ollejarz. if you have a father/grandad who was polish and was in this battle let me know please, they wud know him from a syberian concentration camp

  • respect for Poland

  • Viva RSI!!

    Death to traitor and Allies!!

  • How we see the true ignorant people from the Padana shit hole and their handicap leader who not only is an hypocrit but has followers that are more stupid that himself. This says much for the padania arese wipes of Bossi .If you don't like Italy there's one message you can all take with you Fuck off and go live in your imaaginery World of a free Padnia .

  • I still see Belgium as a country without an identity ! An exceptionally boring country it won't be long before Belgium like everything else in that FAKE country will disappear completly from the map of Europe !

  • starngely enough my great great great granfather was from northern italy no-one knows exactly where, but somehow ended up at the abbey being brought up by the monks receiving a education etc.... a hard to come by thing back then for pesant people,he left when he was of age and met his wife who working in the feilds, she got bit by a snake so he carried her home and her father gave him a job,you know the rest they got married,

  • my family also hid a polish guy called bprunoswki (spelling) i was talking to a polish person two years ago who was my age 43 and he told me the story of a italian family who kept him safe, and he also told ME the story of my relative who shot the two germans small world¬¬my family name is valente

  • @skunkhead2006 I read your story that you said your family originated from

Monte Cassino Did your family live in the abbey ?

  • nice music ennio morricone,my family originated from monte cassino...during ww2 one of my relatives shot two germans who were abuseing his mother and grandmother.he had been out hunting and when he came back to the family home he seen what the 2 germans were doing so he shot the pair of em and bureid them in their orchard!the commanding officer at the time somehow heard what went on and demaded he turned himself in,sohe did upon arrival fighting started and the germans lost their command

  • viva brasil nos lutamos muito em terras italianas =D brasil acima de tudo abaixo de Deus

  • My mother is died, my father is old, my aunts and uncles still alive are old, I'm not twenty years old, maybe it's time to remember, of course, but to try to talk quiet for another Europe now.

  • My parents sayed me, a lot of Mussolini's soldiers and about all the Italian people refused the war, not only with Germany, they refused "the war". Unfortunatly, the war did.

It's the reason we can see German soldiers in Italy, because the cohalition between Mussolini and Hitler was already finished when Hitler begun the war and so entry in Italy too.

  • @forzaromaforzalupi My grandfather fouught alongside them against the fascists at Cassino, and alongside him were ANZACS and Americans, but the Poles bore a heavy burden and were betrayed after the war when denied the chance to go home, living next door to my other grandfather were two retired Polish spitfire pilots that never got to see their families again after we other allies abandoned Poland to the Soviets. In all honesty I dont know what we could have done to stop them.

  • @TheChundar Were the Fascists at Cassino ?????? Go back and read your history books before posting a message on You tube !

  • @ddm3542 I am very well read in historical matters, though the Italian Fascists were ousted at this point the allied soldiers continued to call Nazis fascists which despite the differences were similar enough for the likes of those who were there as my grandfather was. Go back and learn to consider a wider angle before you choose to rebuke anyone anywhere

  • @TheChundar Go away and learn to use the right terminology i don't give a damn about where your grandfather was ! The German paras at Cassino and the German Wehrmacht WEREN'T FASCIST !

  • Polish?! Hmmh... not bad, but also too much protégéd by the Allied. Otherwise you had NO chance "to join" the win. That's also the truth, we think, prejudices back or forth...

  • @Tracer379 WW2 started in Poland. We didn't have to "join to win". England and France joined US to fight Hitler cause we were fighting Germans from the beginning of WW2.

  • @nazisbitethedust Yes the history of poland in WWII is a tragedy. Britain and France sat and watched as the Nazis and Soviets overran your country. The soviets helped invade you and then betrayed you again at Warsaw. Yet the poles kept fighting anywhere they could. Poland in WWII is nearly my favorite subject. Its a really interesting story.

  • @IronManOfficialguy so true

  • @IronManOfficialguy So true... they kept on fighting right up to 1989...

  • @IronManOfficialguy Wow you are the first non-Polish person that knows something about Polish History. Well done. :D

  • @IronManOfficialguy While Britain & France 'sat & watched,' (I think you mean declared war) what did the US do? Sat on the fence until Dec 8th 1941, joining in the fight for freedom ONLY when it's OWN self interest was at stake. I always find it ironic & amusing when American's point the finger at other nations & suggest that they 'sat & watched.' The US sat on the fence so long, Uncle Sam had splinters in his arse! Britain could offer Poland no practical military support in Sept 39.

  • @IronManOfficialguy this is vey tru bt poland was also divide up for over a hundred years before ww1....only after ww1 did poland became back an official country....they have a strong will power..no lie

  • @IronManOfficialguy Yeah everybody made Poland their Bitch. Sadly it's still happening.

  • @IronManOfficialguy My Great grandfather was a Polish soldier during WW2, he survived many battles and was shot many times. Eventually the germans caught up with him and he was held at a concentration camp until it was liberated at the end of the war. Unfortunately my mother or my Grandmother never asked him about his time during the war and he died in 1990, I now have little to no information about my Polish or Russian ancestors.

  • @Tracer379 Poles didn't have to "join the win". WW2 started in Poland. We were fighting Hitler from the very beginnig, that is 1st September 1939. And yes, Poles defeated the Germans in Monte Cassino after the brave Indians, Canadians and others could not make it cause the resistance was so fierce. "And they went killking and avenging..." so goes the Polish army song "Poppy flowers from Monte Cassino"

  • What about Polish Army? They beat the nazis and reach the temple ..or not? Oh no ..im wrong Us Army and British Army just take the glory of Monte Cassino...Poles??? Who is Poles...ahaaa!!!!! alcoholics , stupids and red necks from eastern Europe...Glory for US and UK ...God bless ....Pozdrawiam

  • Thanks for posting this. My grandfather served with 1st BN, 133rd Reg. of the 34th Inf. division (US) in the fighting around Monte Cassino. He received service-ending wounds near the town of Cassino at the base of the monastery hill.

  • good music :D

  • Heard this was one of WW2's bloodiest, and most claustrophobic of battles.

Why's it not mentioned in the mainstream as much as Normandy, Iwo Jima, et al?

  • Polish were the strongest and most fierce units on the battlefield

  • My father was at Monte Cassino through the whole 6-month campaign. An American infantry/intelligence officer, he was on top of Mt. Trocchia on the day of the Monte Cassino bombing (2/15/44) and saw it from beginning to end. In the valley, the allies were in such a vulnerable position, and Hell rained down on them. Between the allied and axis soldiers, there were over 300,000 casualties. Some of the German soldiers who had also served at the battle of Stalingrad said Monte Cassino was worse.

  • @TheCheshire2009 Monte Cassino was very hard fought, but I doubt it was anywhere near as bad as Stalingrad. During Stalingrad there were over 2 million casualties, and most soldiers barely had enough food to keep them alive.

  • @strongman325

Stalingrad was certainly brutal. Soldiers "...barely had enough food to keep them alive." is an understatement. I've read that there was some cannibalism--that is, people froze to death during the winter and were buried by snow and ice. In the spring, they thawed and some were eaten to keep other people alive. That may have been done by some civilians, but I imagine the soldiers were just as desperate.

  • my grandfather who was in the queens regiment was on the beach on the landings and was pinned down by mg nests and saw a jeep come out under fire a naval guy stepped out casually and stood there taking co-ordinates while my grandfather was taking cover and the guy just said good luck left got bak on the boat and destroyed the mg nests

  • @kickassed

In all my readings on WW2, I just CANNOT explain or fathom, these guys. My Great Uncle was in The Black Watch at Normandy.

Happiest man I knew as a wee one...

  • a waste of lives and for what, someone's victory and someone's lose. what a sham the world still doesn't learn from these bruttle battles even when we can read and see from both sides what i was like.

  • BOBARD OF MONTE CASSINO, IS AN USELESS and terrorist Bombings of priests and nuns and civilians, BY THE ANGLO-AMERICAN

  • @ultimalegione If Italians hadn't had have Mussolini and fascist priests maybe it would not have happened.

  • Poles got Monte Cassino!

  • @Darekolos Yes with British Equipment !

  • Comment removed

  • @Ecthelion008 Beats reading Chinese history and the peasant army of Communist China .There's your mechanized army !

Your just an illiterate Communist Fool .Your comment that Germany was not ready for War or even prepared for it and that it wasn't mechanized shows how DUMB you are ! Like i said take your comments elsewhere !

Fool tell me how DID Germany smash those countries ? By walking ?

  • @Ecthelion008 The only thing that made China mechanized was the bicycle and there's your Chinese mechanization ! So don't come here and write your crap that Germany wasn't mechanized !

Have you looked up the terminology of Blitzkrieg yet as i can't understand the terminology if it means Lightning war and if it meant running on foot please enlighten me with your Chinese pearls of wisdom?

What did the Germans use in the Blitzkrieg ? Did they have tanks and areoplanes ? Or did the China have it.

  • @ddm3542

Yeah... the Germans had bicycles too. By 1944, 1 in 7 German infantry battalions was on bike, while the other 6 were on foot. Don't believe me? Look up: "Volksgrenadier division order of battle". Panzer divisions were extremely rare, never making up more than 10% of all German divisions.

  • @Ecthelion008 Now that you have proved you can lift information from a book. Tell me how Germany wasn't a mechanized army in 1940 and how did they acheive their victory in such a short space of time !And how were they not prepared for war ?
