@marinesalltheway95 those are some lofty goals seeing as you would have to leave the marines after years of training and deployment, then train for army and rangers which would take a couple more years, and then you'd have to serve longer in the rangers than you did in the marines. Then you'd have to leave the army, join the navy, and if you werent 28 by then which is doubtful, you could join the seals. I'd say narrow down your list to probably 1. Maybe 2 because some marines become SEALs

If I understood what was happening they basically came under enemy fire, layed down some supressive fire to keep them pinned down in a building or behind some trees, then were ordered to keep the enemy pinned down and put some 'distance between [then] and the enemy'. So they layed down suppressive fire for a bit more and then retreated. Why were they ordered to put distance between them and the enemy? Did they call in an airstrike?

@cptdustin My tips are run a whole HELL of a lot before you join, if your out of shape then basic will not be fun.... also if your going to enlist i'd advise you to go to collage first, take ROTC(You get to take collage for free if you do) then get out and you owe the military a certain amount of service, then you will be an officer. Enlisted ranks may sound fun, but trust me, when you first get in you will be cleaning the head....

@lockandload94 That's because there's only 2 Marine Brigades in the entire country and they're in Helmand Province, the Army has 3 Brigade Combat Teams in Helmand Province and about 13 others (Including one Army National Guard unit) elsewhere in the country, most of which fall under the command of Regional Control East (Why you see only Army personnel in Kandahar and the mountainous areas)

@junierinrunescape gung ho is a Marine thing were you are "enthusiastic" or "dedicated" to being a Marine or going to combat, yes infantry are the guys in combat, you don't have to be super fit you have to do some test before you can sign the contract to go in the Marines, you have to be able to do 2 pull ups, 44 situps in 2 minutes and 1.5 mile run in 13:30 minutes, once you're out of boot camp you are in superb shape, after boot camp you go train for you're job in the Marines.

@junierinrunescape the buddy system makes it so you and your friend can go to to training together and be in the same squad/platoon but that means you have to both want the same job, don't worry in boot camp i had a guy who was like 5.7 and 220 complete couch potato and they put him on meal restrictions and worked him hard but he made it and remember the Marine Corps is a team not "lone wolf" so your squad/platoon well help you with stuff. if you are anybody else has questions feel free ask.
