  • hi. do you sing in a band??

  • I reccomend trying sweet vinegar and salt afterwards...with potato starch.. so so so good..OR.. lol.. a pre-mix sauce like 'soy, lemon, lime garlic sauce'...you need to thin it out with a bit of soy maybe so the potato starch doesnt clump...prepare the sauce watever way u want, sweet is good, cause once its cooked, when u dip it in savory soy sauce its a really nice flavour... dont use corn starch, use potato starch..its way better..and it looks better i think lol

  • gorgeus

  • lol you don't know in english? It says potato starch...cornstarch works too.

you should use white wine instead of sake, and some flour.

  • The karaage chicken for our church fellowship luncheon came out great. There must've been a run on the potato starch before New Years though. Luckily I found it at Times Supermarket. I added grated ginger and white wine to the marinade (overnight). My wife liked the crunchies (little bits of fried potato starch), haha. Mahalos again for posting this.

  • umm the chicken meat is a bit dry

  • I would of tasted the marinade before you put the chicken in personally so you can check th flavors personally with chinese and japanese cusine they regulary taste their marinades before adding fish or meat or similar to check balances of flavors I would get a load of garlic in my mouth and find I cant taste the chopped spring onion which has a delatate taste when cooked as long u only sweat spring onion down and not burn or overcook the indredient's it is my worst nightmare when I cook but cont

  • Completely unrelated, but about the portrait in the back in your livingroom: is that you, or is it the jazz singer/guitarist "Dorlis"....?I was curious because it looks like one of her album covers from far away.

  • i wish i was there so that i can taste that...

  • ur voice sounds awesome

  • I noticed that you used the same chopsticks when the chicken was raw and cooked, doesn't that promote cross contamination? Salmonella isn't really fun.

  • you make me smile. you made the presentation in a fun easy way.

  • I like Karaage, but I never knew how to make it. I will go to Mitsuwa and buy some Japanese stuff. I want to try to cook Karaage for the first time!

  • not bad at all ... but faty :)

  • fried chicken is every where man.

  • How do you cut the chicken? Because when I made some chicken some of the pieces were too small others were too large.

  • Awesome directions and your accent is not goofy.

But, stop poking at the meat. I could be a veterinarian too if I was not lazy and if I did not not need to eat 2600 calories a day to maintain my weight.

  • good instructional vid... ill be sure to make these for my family, it looks delish. and btw, nice egg...

  • by your look and your japanese accent either your father or mother is japanese...also by seeing your room , i think you are single and pretty..well if you lived somewhere close to me i would surely ask you out.

  • why don't you just get a real girlfriend?

  • And when did complimenting a girl become a crime douche bag.

  • chuj - It isn't, but using the insult 'douche bag' should be made a crime as its possibly the stupidest sounding insult ever created. what does it even mean?

  • wow are you fucking retarded douche bag was a popular 70's insult for lesbians gtfo of the web retard.

  • foxsito - Yes I know that Einstein, but it is only used by a few nowadays; mainly spastics. Do you use it? If not you should

  • Oh and saying things like "if you lived somewhere close to me" to a stranger on the internet sounds nothing short of stalker-ish

  • frou frou! :)

  • Beautiful and can cook. If only you didn't read Deepak Chopra or listen to Natalie Merchant.

  • One trick I use when checking the temperature of the oil is to stick a clean chopstick in the oil, if bubbles form around the sides it is pretty hot. You could also take a piece of bread crust and drop it in and see if it fries.

  • What type of oil do you use? Everything turned out well when I tried this recipe, but when I started deep frying the battered chicken there were flaky white thingys all over them. I'm assuming that was the potato starch. I'm just curious if you know why that might have reacted like that. Thanks!

  • natalie merchant! yay!!

  • so hungry now.....

those chiken look so yummY! gotta eat some!!!

  • ur too beautiful for a cheff

  • Mmmm, I love chicken karaage! Now I wanna make it from scratch.

  • Wow this gaijin knows her thing!

  • Thanks for the video. Really informative..I haven't used potato starch to fry, but will definitely use on my next attempt to make chicken karagae.

BTW, I'm Palauan and I love your storyboard. Did you go to Palau?

  • aweegato...aloha!

  • The Japanese Mayo she's using appears to be a popular brand called "Kewpie" mayo, pronounced (kyoopee)which is made with more egg yolk instead of egg whites making it slightly more yellow in color and creamier/richer in taste. I usually buy this mayo from 99 Ranch Market. Way to go Hapaloha! . That looks soooo Onoz!! I going make it now cuz make it look so enjoyable fo eat ! Aloha ! ! !

  • i' m italian chef if you want know italian cooking contact me ..bye

  • I feel it deliciously.

It is a category of KaraAge, but I think the name is TatsuTaAge(竜田揚げ).

  • Hmm...I'm going to try it, but I guess you should try the recipe first before making a video for the just in case...

  • whats the japanese mayo called?

  • ARTE PUTA SARAP SAPAKIN SA ULO

  • Are you a FIlipina? aStig..

  • Wow Aly,

Cooking lesson and the Gypsy Kings for entertainment. YOu have very good taste, in music and food.

    Aloha,

    SH

  • Alyssa,

Your so funny, but very entertaining.

    Mahalo,

    SH

  • Here's a tip: To find out if your oil is hot enough, just hold the tip of your hashi at the bottom of the pan. If it sizzles a bit, you're ready! Keep up the good work, your videos are really good!

  • I don't like the shaky camera, but the recipe looks fine, and the additional comments and shots of the apartment were very funny and interesting. Thank you!

  • Mmmm. Perfect. I wish youtube would get on that "sniff-o" vision already...mmmm *stomach growls*

  • ..we call it KFC...

  • a typical Japanese mayo is a brand called "kewpie". Its got some little alien baby on the wrapping, and its used on tons of Japanese food such as okonomiyaki and the americanized mussels dish - mix kewpie with masago and bake on top of the mussel or seafood (called "dynamite").

  • What is "japanese mayo"?

  • I'm gonna try this in the Fall. They look pretty good & easy to make.

  • Whoohoo, that looked very tasty!!! I wish I could cook that, but I'm not sure if I can find all ingredients here :( But I think it was a very informative(?) video! :)

  • Please... if you have so strong feelings for her, can you please leave her alone? you dont even dare to put out a movie of your self, I guess you are one of those 14 year old kids going around saying "FFS OMG n00b" all the time, put out a clip of your self, I'll check to see if you are worth the spamm that you are doing here!

  • Well... Norway is one of the richest countries in the world... so ehmm no... we have those hampsters in the wheelythingy still.... Are you seriously that retarded?

  • I just did mine :D Check it out!!

  • Koromo is batter in english :3

  • You're clearly not a regular cook or chef, seeing how you freak out by raw meat... (a little surprised). But anyway, I didn't know this recipe, so thank you! I'll give it a go later.

  • shrimp thing

  • I tried this-delicious(I added a bit of fish sauce and chile peppers to the marinade) Thanks for posting, hapaloha

  • woah, I dont know what you have experienced earlier in your life, but you should take some anger-management classes... I'm gona assume you come from the Usa, and let me guess, you are 15 years old? and you like to be though online, becuase then people cant see who you realy are?

  • wait a minute, and correct me if im wrong, but are you talking about me "gforceram" to take some anger-management classes? because if you are, you surely did not read my comment carefully and thoroughly.

  • oh yeah thats right he did say that.

  • I just dont understand how people can act like that when people like hapaloha tries to help others. people like "buff1180" should been banned from a society like this. anywhoo ^^ Thanks again Hapaloha for this vid!

  • well why would i be mad at you for living in the USA when i am from the USA as well? And i bet you are one of those kids, like Elohim89 said and are just trying to be cool to think you are actually saying something relevant to try and put people down just to make yourself feel better.

  • Hey, man! if you got nothing positive to come with, please dont say anything at all! you just end up being an ass and just being embaressing for the rest of the peeps here.... so please mate! shut it! by the way hapaloha, I realy enjoy watching your vids =) Thanks for putting them up here for us to watch ^-^

  • Wow I love your name, but I'm curious do you know who Elohim is?

  • Hehe yes, I do know what it is and who it was, I cought it up while I was at school in some religion class ^^ It's hebrew for god or something, correct me if I am wrong ^^

  • Wow.... you obviously have an attitude problem and for some reason you are ignorant to say "stick to Whoring" what are you pissed off about? there is nothing about this video to be pissed off about. Yeah, and like Elohim89 said you shouldn't say anything if you don't have anything nice to say.

  • If you don't like the video, why post? e.e... Oi oi..

  • this wanna be chef is very funny, me and wife would love to take one of her classes, but like she doesn't know what the heck she was doing and talking about, by the end of the course probably we will all be eating burn chicken
