  • your cat's are cute and your monsters are awesome... nuff said

  • Thank you so much for these! I'm showing my students as inspiration for their models.. great stuff.

  • what is the white silk like one?

  • i love your paper mache creations by the way what did you use for the slime

  • @tut153

Thank you! I used fiberglass casting resin for the slime. It's kind of dangerous though. The catalyst is bad news if it gets in eyes etc.. But it makes great slime.

    Take care

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan thanks

  • Love - Love - Love your work!

    It's awesome :)

  • @novemberrain1129

Thank you so so so much! I appreciate the nice comment!

    Dan

  • whats your paper mache clay recipe...thanks :))))

  • @pirke666

Hi there. I just use cheap white flour and water for paste. Nothing else. If you are interested, I have some instructional videos on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and more information on my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com). Take care

    Dan

  • Nice! One question: what material u use to make teeth?

  • @ShayanImmior

Hello there. I make my teeth out of "Fimo", a polymer clay that you bake in the oven.

    Dan

  • oh and also how did you layer it. like you put news paper, then you let it dry, then you put tape, then put white paper, last you painted it. please correct me if im wrong. i really want to make this except the video goes so fast for me to see what your doing. thanks for everything

  • @petfan1202

Hello there. These videos are too fast to be instructional. They are meant for entertainment. I do have some slower, instructional videos on my website, GourmetPaperMache (dot com). And I show several projects being built step by step on my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com). Check those places out first, then I can answer any questions you have left. I don't have enough room here to describe everything about my techniques. Good luck and thank you for your kind words.

    Dan

  • do you think you can tell me what materials you used to make this?

and how you added detail with the paint?

ps:love the paper mache creations you make , subscribed.

  • DO U KNOW ANNYONE NAMED MS. GALEACEIF U DO TALL ME BECAUSE SHE HAS A COOL MONSTER LIKE U AND I THINK U KNOW HER AND GAVE IT TO HER!?!? COOL RIGHT WELL ANYWAY DO U LIVE IN PENCILVANIA (PA)?

  • @SuperSteelers65

    Hi again,

I live in Seattle. I've not met Mrs. Galeaceif. But it's possible she used one of my books (called "The Simple Screamer") to build a monster like this.

    Dan

  • hahahahaha i love it sooo neet!!!!

  • @SuperSteelers65

Thank you again. Nice of you to watch all of my videos.

    Dan

  • AWESOME! for homework we had to make a paper mâché monster and it turned out sooo bad. XD

  • @monopoly5467

Thank you for the nice comment! I wish you'd been to my site before you made your project. I could have helped you out. Consider making another piece. You'd be amazed at how much better it would be. Practice is key.

    Take care

    Dan

  • What do you make the slobber out of? I have a friend who wants to know.

  • @jumanji321

    Hey there,

This particular drool is clear cast fiberglass (also called fiberglass casting resin). You can get it at hardware stores and places that sell plastic. You need catalyst. And you must be very careful. Use outdoors and with eye protection. But it works great for this kind of thing.

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan Okay is there anythingelse that would work as fake drool?

  • @jumanji321

Something else works pretty well. You can get clear caulking (they use it to seal doors etc) at hardware stores. It dries pretty clear and a bit rubbery. Works well. It just won't last as long, but will be fine.

    Good luck.

    Dan

    Dan

  • Truth q if I make a monster for my nephew! I am glad the Fish ... but the video is very fast, as do the teeth ??... I have some doubts

  • I bought your book some time ago, and love it! I've actually done similar methods utilizing stiffened felt over clay or styrofoam forms to create lightweight, shatterproof sculpture and costume pieces. I'm subbing to your channel, man!

  • @BaronDixon

Thank you for your nice comment! Your technique sounds great. I appreciate the kind words. Keep up your art.

    Dan

  • now that shit is cool.

    visit my site: w w w . bloodyknife23 . webs . com

  • @qwtrerry

I did check out your site. I enjoyed the review and photos of the monster movie. Like you, I enjoy big mechanical monsters inside latex skin. Thanks for the comment. And good luck to you.

    Dan

  • For some reason this video screams out "Art Attack"

  • @rwark90

I agree! Thank you for commenting!

    Dan

  • Did you make the eyes your self or did you by them?

  • @DarkhunterWerewolf

Hey there. I make some eyes, but these I got from taxidermy companies. You can find them by googling "glass eyes".

    Take care

    Dan

  • Haha, my art class made a paper mache monsters for halloween. THEY ARE SO COOL! My teacher showed us this video and the dancin dragon! hehe ur osum!!!

  • @jtssteph1

Why thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate it! I hope you enjoyed the process. Keep making art!

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • Hi Dan! What kind of paint would you recommend for this kind of project? I am going all out on my first one, a nice scary one for Halloween. I love your work by the way-really cool!!

  • @remyphalen

    Hey there,

Thank you for the nice comment! I appreciate the kind words. About paint....any water based paint will work great. I like acrylic/latex (like you paint your house with). Lately I've been getting Rustoleum all purpose paint in smallish cans from Home Depot. Just don't get the oil based version. Works beautifully with this medium.

    Take care

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • haha hey dan did the cat ever get annoying when you were building your creations

  • @XxPHO3NIX

Hey there. No, my cats are never annoying. They love to "help" me when I work. And I don't mind at all.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Dan

  • how did u make the teeth?

  • @matthew5342

I use a product called "Fimo". You can also use "Sculpy". Any hobby store will have it.

    Dan

  • WOW!

    Amazing work!

What do you use for slobber effect!?

    Thx

  • I saw your cat at the end in one of the monster pictures. Funny. Your cats really like messing with your work don't they?

  • by the way, do you varnish your monsters to make the gooey look?

    Aaron

  • lol. Kitty wants to help!! I'm in awe of your work!! here i sit, struggling with balloons and you're making amazing art O_O

  • @BellaDanceswithJack

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I know people who use balloons very effectively. But I think they are hard to work with, and I don't like the symmetry. I find that just crumpling paper works very well. Again, that's just me. Sounds like maybe you do this art form. So nice to meet you.

    Take care

    Dan

  • realy nice!

i did somthing similer to this on my ART GCSE my teacher loved it i made a little gremlin. I hope to make more as a hobby becouse I loved makign it so much, this video has helped me thank you

  • @blackrosses123

Congratulations on your project. I"m sure it was terrific. And yes, you should do more. It is a great hobby. I still love doing paper mache after all these years. Make sure you visit my site for more about paper mache. GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

    Have fun!

    Dan

  • it reminds me of a deranged rabbit! hahaha great job!

  • @Hedgelette

Yes, it does look like a deranged rabbit. It wasn't intended to look like a rabbit, but the ears made it so.

Thank you for the nice comment!

    Dan

  • nice! its beast!! i am so going to make one

  • @lassiefan97

Thank you for the nice comment! And yes, you should make one! Good luck.

If you are interested, I have some slower, instructional videos on my blog to help you out, PaperMacheBlog (dot com).

    Take care

    Dan

  • Also, what is the black stuff you paint on then rub off in order to add dimension? Thanks again!

  • Hello,

The black is just watered down black paint. I call this "blackwashing". And, as you saw, the white is cloth that I dip into glue. It adds strength and details.

    Take care

    Dan

  • If you are interested, there is much more information on my website, GourmetPaperMache (dot com). And I have some slower, instructional videos on my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com).

    Dan

  • What is the white fabric(?) you layer over the sculpture to shape out wrinkles etc... before painting? Thanks.

  • Nevermind about this question, I just read the answer below, lol. Thanks.

  • mmm...and the lil pritty cat at 0.00 1.00? LOL ^^

    your artwork are awesum ;) 5star 5stern 5stelle

    BRAVO!

  • Thank you for the stars and the kind words. Yes, I have three cat who all want to get in on the action. Talk about little monsters.

    Take care.

    Dan

  • so cool!!!! looks great

  • I'm really curious as to the "saliva" effect you used on the screamer. Is it some type of clear paint or anything similar? Oh and I really like your work and I hope you don't mind if I ask questions often.

  • That was "clear casting resin". It's the stuff they cast with insects and flowers in it. You put in a lot of catalyst so that it congeals fast. It is also dangerous. You must wear protective stuff, gloves, safety glasses etc. But it works great for drool.

    Dan

  • haha. its funny when you play with the jaws. 5/5

  • I'm glad you like the videos. Thanks for the comment!

    Dan

  • wat paints have u used???

    acrylics??

  • This brand was Rustoleum, water based. It is an, all purpose acrylic-latex mix. But any water soluble paint will work. I just don't like oil based. Too messy.

    Dan

  • hey can you upload this slower i realy wanna make one for my school prodect

  • Sorry, but this video is not speeded up. It is shot time lapse, one frame per second. In fact, it's slowed down by half. I have some slower, instructional videos on my blog, PaperMachMan (dot com). I only have an introduction and two lessons so far, but will be adding more later.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • thank you i found it

  • hey just curious what is your paper mache mix ratio. I'm just gatting into working with paper mache. it's forgiving.

  • I just mix until it's the consistency of loose, cream soup? I know, that doesn't help much. I think as you work with it you'll get a feel for how you like it. Have extra water on the side to add because it gets thicker as you work. But there is no real formula. That is part of why the medium is "forgiving". You are correct in that. Good luck. I think you will enjoy this.

    Dan

  • hi...sorry but I have a question too....What's your last white layer made of?it is paper(if yes what kind?)?it is some piece of clothe or gauze or something like that?i saw you used it in all of your videos...

  • That final coat is cloth dipped into white glue. I use old bed sheets for the cloth and Elmer's glue for the white glue. Check out my slower, instructional videos on my blog for more information. PaperMacheMan (dot com)

    Thanks

    Dan

  • thanx for answer

i saw your tutorials and i got the ideea.

  • Hi there. It is really forgiving. That means you don't have to worry too much about the ratio. Just pour in some flour. Keep adding water and mix with yout hands until you get the consistency of soup. I know that doesn't sound like great instructions. But after you work with it, you'll get a feel for the right amount of water. Check out the slower instructional videos on my blog. This is discussed. PaperMacheMan (dot com)

    Good luck

    Dan

    Dan

  • Hi Jonty,

Thought you'd appreciate a good screamer. Hey, I'm new to this forum stuff. I noticed you got to my forum and it demanded membership. I've since removed that silly condition. Just thought I'd mention it. Hope your art is going well.

    Dan

  • That is totally the COOLEST thing I've ever seen!!! where did you learn to make paper mache like that? I totally dig your work!

  • Thank you for your nice comment! Over the years I developed my own variation of paper mache. It works well for me. I appreciate your kind words.

    -Joey-

  • I've written three responses, each trying to get people to check out your Videos Joey. For some reason, Youtube won't allow posts with sites mentioned. I suppose it's to stop ads. But if you are reading this, search Youtube for "The Lost Warrior". Then check out the rest of Joe's videos. Unbelievable art.

    Thanks again my friend.

    Dan

  • Don't worry dear Dan! i really appreciate that you promote my work! you are a really great friend and an artist! All i can say right now is thank you so much for your support and kindness!!! thank you Dan and you know you're the best! you're the papier mache king! a really big hug for you! Cheers!

  • I'm glad my post finally went through. We support each other Joey. I can hardly wait to see what you are cooking up next. I know I won't have to wait too long. You are always working.

    See you.

    Dan

  • Seeing this video just inspired me to go and complete some of my half finished projects!

  • If you do dig out your half finished projects, then I will be more than flattered. Thank you for your nice remark. And definitely, get back to work! So will I. I have another video already shot. I just need to get in gear and edit it. So let's both work. Good luck!

    Dan

  • hahahah i love ur cat ^__^ . Your AMAZING at this!!! . hope u keep making new creations xD . x

  • Thank you! Yes, I have three cats. Always in my way. I have another project done and it's filmed. I just need to edit it. I should be finished in a week or so. Just thought I'd let you know.

    Thanks again.

    Dan

  • I still can't get the "personality" you seem to build into your screamers. I can do the mechanics, still hoping that "spark" shows up. Thanks for the video!!!

  • Hey Dan,

Nice to hear from you. Your projects do have the spark that others see, but maybe it just doesn't feel right to you yet. Trust me though, it will happen to your satisfaction. Just keep doing the art. Take care.

    Dan

  • love your creations, thanks so much for sharing.. : )

  • Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Dan

  • Amazing!

  • Thank you! I really appreciate it.

    Dan

  • Oh, WOW! SO AMAZING! Reminds me of "The Gremlins". Very cool, It'd be neat to see you do a "self portrait", of sorts, and make a version of your own head from the neck up. That'd be great :)

    Again, well done!

  • Thank you Torin,

You are always very supportive. I'm appreciate it very much.

    Dan

  • Wow those are really cool and nice editing when it seems like its screaming .

But i do prefer dragons. COOL :)

  • I like dragons too. I'll get back to them next video.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Dan

  • Hi all. This is the first video made with my new camera. Not perfect, but much better I think. Still, best to choose the "HQ" setting under the video. Thanks!

    Dan

  • Wow Dan! Nice video once again!

Haven't talked to you for a while, sorry, been very busy.

    5/5!

  • Hey Derek,

Nice to hear from you. I haven't even watched this yet. You beat me to it. Thanks as always for your kind words.

    Dan
