thats not a crank dude. thats the flywheel. thats how most of them old john deere tractors made in the 20s n 30s n 40s were started. that was the only way u could start em. in the late 40s or early 50s they started makin em with electric start systems
That is definitely an AO orchard, the unstyled orchard tractors didn't have as many fairings as the styled orchard deere's, check any antique deere literature
Its a 1937 AR = Model A Regular (not row crop) It is very similar to the AO. I believe the only difference in 1937 is the AO has a little scoop over each gas cap. I think they even used the same fenders. Someone else may know better as i am not a John Deere guru.
@SmokinDodge also the AO models had the air intale and exhaust come out under the hood on opposing sides so there wasn't anything sticking out of the hood to catch tree branches
when turning it by hand there can be a strong odor of gas especially when you use the choke thus making the fuel/air ratio richer. After it starts it will just blow exhaust out of the petcock.
Inline 6? sure sounds like it. thats indeed a different way to start a tractor. this looked easier to start rather than the starter connected straight to the crank shaft like your old allises. Thanks for sharin
@stlchevy95 The old John Deere's are all an inline 2 cylinder. The 2 cylinders face the front of the tractor and the crank runs the width of the tractor. The clutch is on the right side and the fly-wheel (what I was turning by hand to start it) is on the left side.
if only wayne's had started that easy
