That said, the majority of people who start doing heavy drugs started off doing pot. Agreed, smoking pot doesn't necessarily mean you'll move onto something heavier, but it's called gateway in that it's a stepping stone. It may not have been for you, or I, for that matter, but people don't just start up with cocaine or meth before having the mildest of highs with pot.

That's only partially true. Pot is usually one of the drugs that doesn't do massive damage to peoples' lives and relationships. But it can do damage. It often depends on how others react to your usage. If your loved ones don't accept it, arguments are inevitable. Pot is also a beginner's drug. Many people get bored of it and move on to tougher stuff. It -also- kills brain cells. So don't call people stupid when you're only seeing one half of the picture yourself.

I agree with you cannabis is not a gateway drug depending on the reason as to why one is smoking it. In the defense of that statement addiction and the progress of wanting more can be with anything from food to drinking, especially if depression is involved. Weed is so light I don't consider it a drug, it's pretty much equal to drinking. Oh, and I was just checking them out for the first time, and this guys lyrics are so damn generic. How a band like this manages to sell records I'll never know. Hell, I'd take Nickelback and Buckcherry over these guys any day... And that is saying a lot.

That said, the majority of people who start doing heavy drugs started off doing pot. Agreed, smoking pot doesn't necessarily mean you'll move onto something heavier, but it's called gateway in that it's a stepping stone. It may not have been for you, or I, for that matter, but people don't just start up with cocaine or meth before having the mildest of highs with pot.

no i wouldent call pot a "gateway" drug.hounestly alcohol is more of a "gateway" drug since it impairs ppls thinking...BUT ive been smokeing pot for years..and i mean years and have never had to urge to get a diff drug...stronger pot,...yes...diff drug no....now ppl want to blame it on weed when someone goes out and does cocain or crack and gets in addiction to that just because they smoked weed before...its nonsence...pot is not a "gatewat" drug.!!

The only way "bud" is bad for you is if you smoke your own body weight, and even then your not sure to die. its a natural plant. think about smoking your own bodyweight, thats a shitload of money and non-stop smoking. there are greater chances of winning the lottery than dying from overdose or somethin on weed.

How much? I've seen bud mess people up beyond belief. I'm not a moral fag here, I support the use of all drugs, as long as it's for the right reasons/doesn't affect anyone. I'd say the exact same if it was alcohol. Just because something is socially accepted people assume it's safe and something bad wont happen to them. I've seen tons of past friends get twisted into it and spat back out.

That's only partially true. Pot is usually one of the drugs that doesn't do massive damage to peoples' lives and relationships. But it can do damage. It often depends on how others react to your usage. If your loved ones don't accept it, arguments are inevitable. Pot is also a beginner's drug. Many people get bored of it and move on to tougher stuff. It -also- kills brain cells. So don't call people stupid when you're only seeing one half of the picture yourself.

Ok good points however i have two counterpoints A) if they are actually LOVE ones than they will accept you faults and all as long as you can back your thoughts and opinions up with logical thoughts, if they cant then they're not what they claim to be and B) there is absolutely nothing in cannabis or the science surrounding cannabis that points to your "gateway drug" theory, if pot is a gateway drug than so is milk, also i want some credible sources about it killing brain cells

I agree with you cannabis is not a gateway drug depending on the reason as to why one is smoking it. In the defense of that statement addiction and the progress of wanting more can be with anything from food to drinking, especially if depression is involved. If you are smoking or doing an actual drug in order to take emotional or mental pain away then yes that would be a gateway but not a gateway remedy.

exactly. what people dont realize is that when a compulsive eater binges the nuerotransmitter serotonin is realeased. You know what else makes the brain release serotonin? LSD, Mushrooms, Exctasy, Peyote. Yet i can still go through the drive thru and by a two piece but its"wrong" to smoke a bowl from time to time

Loved ones don't have to love what you do. Parents accept you, but sometimes not your behavior or habits. And many of my friends who have smoke pot have gone on to more dangerous things simply because one drug leads to another. Pot, in itself, is not dangerous despite the brain damage. And several people I know who smoke pot on a regular basis have become dull-witted. They could pass for retarded when they're not even high. Sad, but true. But maybe it's better when they're dumb and giddy.

how about the millions of other people in the world who are just as intelligent many more so than me or you and smoke pot like theres no tomm? So far our last 3 presidents have admitting to smoking pot,. And i still want to see some proof of an actual SCIENTIFIC study that shows pot causes brain damage. And no pot doesnt lead to other drugs the correlation between those two is that most of the people buy pot from people who have other drugs like coke therefore they are more exposed to it
