I realized that the dates didn't add up - Rebel Without A Cause came out in 1955 when Marlon was 31. So I looked it up and it turns out that this screen test was from 1947 and used an earlier script treatment for the film that was later thrown out and bears no relation to the 1955 film, which Marlon had nothing to do with. Fascinating!

The first Brando movie I ever saw was Streetcar. I saw it in the Castro theater in San Francisco. Hundreds of gay guys and me, one of about two straight guys. The second he hit the screen for his first entrance the place ERUPTED in screams. Blew my mind. The greatest entrance ever. Awesome.

Something I noticed. The actress did a good job of positioning herself so Brando would upstage her. But she tousled his hair at the beginning so it stuck up a bit.

She didn't want him to get the gig.
