  • this is bullshit because many people, who walks along roads at night without any indication MUST DIE, and this system will save them.

  • Is this night view feature available on every S Class from 2005, including the 'basic' S280? :)

  • I guess it makes a great getaway car turn off lights at night drive by screen lose the cops no chopper will find you.

  • does it detect ghost too?

  • @oetzi0000 each Mercedes-Benz is equipped with optional Paranormal Danger Assist. The Germans literally think of everything.

  • to be honest, it seems to me that this feature is redundant and unnecessary

  • @kevinsunshine how is that unnecessary? if it was they wouldn't spend millions of dollars on developing suck innovations in technology.

  • @kevinsunshine unnecessary? Are you stupid?

  • @Fredrinski that's just my opinion. you get the fuck out of here

  • @Fredrinski I just had a different opinion. Having different opinions doesn't make people stupid.

  • @brian2786 watch daybreakers the vampires have a Chrysler 300 with all windows like that so they can drive in daytime

  • Would be cooler if the windshield turned into the night vision screen.

  • @brian2786

    yeah :D :D

  • You don't need headlights anymore cause you have the Night View Assist :DDD

  • @Redox852 It doesn't work with the headlights off.

  • why the F*** only on verrry verryy expensive cars can such gadgets be found?and on other cars which are more accessible to normal peoples can not be found? why the F*** only for rich peoples and expensive cars is the safety important and for regular people not ?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @onlyblade Well some "extras" you can find on regular cars nowadays only exists because brands like Mercedes were pioneers. In the 80`s only expensive cars had traction-control and stability control systems or airbags with pre-tensioned seatbelts are now standart.

It takes about 5-9 years to some technology become the industry standart. Park-assist, ESP, light materials and stronger alloys, etc...you can find on many everyday cars.

  • @skillbill83 thanks

  • Thumbs up if you would just drive around all night using this thing!

  • Hahahaha. I like how they just keep driving people who need help. Awesome.

  • Big deal...My buddy's 1973 Pinto had this back then...!! : )

  • Mercedes for life!!!

  • @hyerxmas hope you realize that they are not the only ones using this technology nor have they invented it.

  • I think Xenons are more than satisfactory (which would no doubt be available on the MB)...but the IR camera is a very cool feature.

  • thats pretty cool i'd like to have that. but i honestly dont live anywhere or know anyone that has a car like that and lives in a place that dark. after the car passes it almost pitch black...lol and who would go walking or riding there bike for fun at a time and enviroment like that with no light...lol

  • this is expensive feature

  • 00:28

  • What features are built into those pedestrians walking on the road at night? They need some common sense!

  • ok this is sooooooooo fucking stupid

  • people who drive such cars should have the right to blind anyone with high beams in my view

  • Proper driver is the safetiest system of all... If You can't drive at night, because You're blind, spare others' life!

  • is this standard on s550 4matic??

  • @Razor4ever no, this is an individual option on all S550's

  • A biker riding in a dark road like that with no signal light / fluorescent strap, is really willing to be run over. :O

  • This is great idea, but like fifth gear tested it, it doesn't work that well in real world. Unless it's integrated into a windshield, it seems to be annoying to keep looking up and down. Also, how would you know your speed when your dash in nightview mode? If you can't see stuff with powerful Xenons then either you're driving too fast or need to get your eyes checked.

  • how good is this on fog ?!?

  • 3:23 suicide man dont wear high visibility vest

  • The kid would be dead because if your body temp is low enough to not stand out in IR than your dead. If it was cod though its possible the kid wouldn't be seen. Id be more afraid if the kid had an at4 though.

  • what if a kid has cold blooded pro on as a perk? will night vision still work?

  • @alibabais1 Don't mention that to Merc, before you know it, they will be fitting Heartbeat Sensors to the front of their cars, then the kids will go out fitted with Ninja Pro! On and on it will go.

  • there are many reasons why i love mercedes)

  • mercedes the best

  • Just change to high beam instead :P

  • 00:00 - 00:36 WHATs That for lights ?? Parkinglights, what ? lol

  • itsa genious idea! Unfortently im still young a realy good sight! so i dunt need it yet, gunna be nice when i retire tho :P

  • that's nice. change your tire in the middle of the road.

  • it´s a shit car !!! i i like one !!! lol

  • GOSU CAR !!! THE BEST !!!!

  • Now why would these car companies spend more money on ridicules incomplete equipment systems instead of putting back the real steal in the car industry. I hate these cars with light metal for a side and a roof body and bumpers made form Thermoplastic Olefin.

I miss cars with chrome plated steel for a body no wonder they still look so darn good and besides I would love to see any of these cars last longer than 30 in a stable condition.

*Now don't reply about the benefits which I already know.*

  • isn't it easier to just drive with NV goggles on?

  • This seems dangerous. Why? A couple reasons, the first is shown in posts below where people think they can drive without headlights now. Very bad. Also, it has a very narrow field of view. We all know that a lot happens all around a car, so if you are focused on only that small part, you may still get into trouble very quickly.

  • If you turn off the headlights, the night vision cant see, you cant drive with just the night vision. True, the nightvision should only be used to assist with seeing things in your way, you shouldnt be watching just the nightvision screen. And Infra red lights are invisible to the human eye.

  • can u use the night view system without lights? driving stealth might be a fun idea.

  • lol. idiots. tell them Schlomkowitz!!!!

  • how much does it cost to put this monitor by options?? it's really cool^^

  • are you for real ?

  • that is cool till it needs 2 be replaced

  • exactly. lol

  • impresive

  • i love this car!!!

    my father had one!

  • What happens if another Mercedes Benz S class is driving towards you with their Night View Assist blasting you with IR lights?

  • @jerw99

OMG they might have to use their actual eye balls!

  • Infra Red is not visible to the naked eye. You are not blasted .

  • even better for you hahahah more light lol yeah but you do gotta a point huh the picture might come out much brighter but i doubt much effect will happen

  • @jerw99 The same thing that happens when you see headlights in the oncoming lane... you'll just have to see which you can see better with and pick it.

  • @jerw99 damn good question

  • @jerw99 maybe that's the reason mercedes is so expensive (?)

  • @jerw99 Uh, it's invisible to the human eye so I don't know what you're talking about.

    0:55

  • @deezomaxima He means blasting your camera with the lights...

  • @michaelmayhem123 Gotcha!

  • @jerw99 Than you look through the windshield as you normally do:)

  • @jerw99 i guess you just use the things called human eyes in that case?

  • @jerw99 nothing

  • @jerw99 maybe it uses a pseudo random generated key to encode the transmitted signal, and when it is bounced back it uses the same key to decode it. If another vehicle happens to pass by, it will probably have a different one, so for the first car it will be just IR noise which it will ignore.... or something similar :D

  • @bboysil I don't think you can "encode" the light like that, but it may be possible to adjust the light wavelength (and make camera sensitive to only that wavelength at the same time) depending on the general direction you are going (north, east, etc). All the cars going in the same direction will have the same kind of light (of the same wavelength), but it won't bother you, as the camera doesn't "look" in the mirror.

  • The real question is could you use this feature if the lights are out? Could you pull into the driveway late at night without waking the family? Could you run from the cops with the lights out?

  • @jerw99 It's invisible light. They would see anything different

  • @jerw99 they are planning to sell just one of this... so the problem doesn't exist

  • @jerw99 Good point...

  • @jerw99 nothing actually, IR is invisible to the human eye......

  • @jerw99 then you die, i guess.. lmao

  • @jerw99 No one else can afford a Mercedes Benz.

  • @jerw99 crushhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pioneer

  • GREAT !!!

  • COOOOOOLLLLLLL!!
