To tell if a snake is venomous i believe you just look at there eyes. (if you don't mind getting that close) if their pupils are round their NOT venomous, but if they are like slits they ARE venomous.
@Smilieracer This is wrong information. If this was true many pythons and boas would be venemous (such as my very own ball python, red tail boa, etc). Many snakes with round pupils are venomous, such as the: coral snake, any of the mambas (black mamba, etc), boomslang, and many others.
The only way you could have a "Deadly Encounter" with a Kingsnake would be if you tripped over it, fell down, and hit your head. I have one as a pet, and they are the most docile snake there is. Kingsnakes "yawn" like that shortly after they have eaten to re-hook their jaws. I pick up wild ones and move them off the road when I see them. I have never been bitten. They are very good snakes to have around. They eat rats, mice and rattlesnakes. Don't touch any snake you don't know, some can kill u.
Kingsnkes are not poisonous (actually it would be not venomous).
I have an interesting video on my channel of small children playing with my kingsnake.
I think kingsnakes make the best snake pets.
People who do not like snakes, like my kingsnake, because he seems to be "friendly".
Snakes are not really friendly pets, like a dog or cat can be, but they do get comfortable around people, and not acting defensive. Which passes for friendly.
i would have grabbed that thing so fast you could even say kingsnake and keep it they are very tame even in wild they are very good snakes and are very valuable
That's a Florida king! Beautiful one at that. This one resembles a Chain king and are really the same species. They interbreed quite a bit where there boundaries overlap, but like i said it is essentially the same as a Chain king.
I don't know the poisonous from non-poisonous snakes,or care to learn the difference, I kill every snake I see on my property. Even the smaller ones freak me out. I would rather face an armed man than wake up to a snake in my bed! Very cool video!
Snake probably had a meal recently and was just re-hinging his jaws. Most snakes un-hinge their jaws to allow for a wider open, then "yawn" to put them back in place.
that was a yawn. king snakes are one of, if not the, most docile snakes you can encouter. i've owned and handled dozens of king snakes of all different varieties and they don't open their mouths like that when threatened. it's not a cottonmouth.
I had one like this at the house on Clearwater Beach, just south of where this one was filmed. It too was calm and deliberate like this. Possibly related. Also known as "Chain KIngsnake" for the pattern on the back. Feeds on other snakes and lizards. Looks like yours is ready for a nap in the shade of the boardwalk
too cool!! ;) you guys have some killer snakes down there! and 'Would' by AIC really fits the video!! ha!! very sinister! are you a reptile enthusiast? if so, did you catch the snake? i would've caught him/her in a heartbeat! i love Kings!!
heyy man that is a kingsnkae one way to find out is if it has like a brain type disign on the top of its head i have a hypo brooks kingsnake and a vietnamese blue beauty rat snake diferent disign on their heads but sweet encounter florida kingsnake prety nice ones next time catch it they dont bite unless you smell like food or if you realy piss it off that is all i want to say peace out man
I found him at Caledesi Island in Clearwater Beach Florida. At first I thought he was yawning but the footage looked like he was warning me to stay away. There was a posted sign that said beware of rattlesnakes. thanks for the input. I never had an experience like this with a snake before.
Oh yea, I forgot to mention it's a kingsnake for sure. A few characteristics to help you in the future....it's way too big/long to be a pigmy rattler. Also, a very bullet shaped head rather than a broadhead arrow shape. Very cool find for sure though. I'd have snagged it right up LOL
Nice

Yes, the snake is yawning. I have kept them for years and they do that. I believe they also do it to realign their jaws after eating. Neat!

this appears to be a kingsnake and not a rattlesnake. The video is pretty good to get a kingsnake in a natural habitat. Where was this video filmed?
