It's really hard to imagine where these 3 stars would have ended up if they never died back then. Ritchie's career was just taking off, I'd imagine he would have had a couple more hits before beatlemania. Its hard to see where big bopper was headed, but he had potential as a song writer. But one thing's for sure Buddy Holly was gonna get bigger and more successful, he was nearly as established s Elvis, but he didn't have the looks so I doubt they'd put him in movies .He'd adapt to the 60's.
i still get buddy i was born and he was gone but i am shite guitar, drums ,just crap but i cant forget him or the music, just weird iam coming screaming into this fucked up world and they were leaving.still love the music, love life, rock on and on and on and on

52 YEARS TODAY This date may be before your time but, it seems as though it was just yesterday for some of us. Buddy Holly and The Crickets had a couple of big hits, “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue”.Ritchie Valens had three big songs, “Come On, Let’s Go”, “Donna” and “La Bamba”.J. P. Richardson “The Big Bopper” had one big hit “Chantilly Lace” in 1958.These three guys were the forerunners to a lot of the music that we hear today and the world lost a lot of talent on February 3, 1959
Why does everybody misspell Buddy Holly. His name was Buddy Holley. If you look at his gravestone it will read "Buddy Holley." Ritchie Valens real name was Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes! Both were great musicians but Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes was an inspiration for millions of people because of his background. Rest in Peace both of you.
Thank God they live on in our memory & we're able to hear their music via this great miracle that is the Internet & YT specially...Those who go through this transition are always in our hearts & prayers...Lite a candle & say an Our Father for their soul. Peace, love & a smile VIVA MARIA!

@weescotschick: Disagree. When these three geniuses passed away - and I truly mean that word - the music industry was robbed of their talents, the fans were robbed of the influences and the next generations were robbed of inspirations.
If they hadn't passed then I guarantee that Simon Cowell (The vampire of the music industry) wouldn't be sucking the life out of music by launching these vapid and talentless frakenstein monsters out in the public domain.
I agree with you, in those days music was music and thos guys had true talent and you could understand what they where singing and they could sing, RIP you guys

@BIGBOOTY7774 actually there was only 4 ppl on the plane..buddy holly, ritchie valens, and the big bopper, plus the pilot roger peterson....and they died in feb 1959...and patsy cline died in 1963 in a forest outside of camden tennesesse...so sorry but she wasnt in the same plane crash as the rock and roll stars....she was in a different plane crash...
Great tribute from Eddie which I believe was only made 2 days after Buddy died. Buddy's influence cannot be overestimated even though for 30 years he wasn't given any major recognition in the USA. At last he is given his due credit, even by the town of Lubbock who initially couldn't see what all the fuss was about!
@misa200120 what a waste of young lives,,lve often wondered why so many cessnas have claimed so many people over the years,l would be interested to know the true figure,,maybe it would make interesting reading for the folks who are not aware of the statistics for this light aircraft,,l would certainly state here and now that the safety record for these aircraft is very poor indeed,,right upto the 1990s,,
@robharding1957 It's not that these aircraft are unsafe--they're involved in accidents more often because unlike commercial airliners, small planes are often flown by much less experienced pilots. This accident is a prime example--a non-instrument rated pilot taking off in instrument conditions. General Aviation is as safe as the pilot chooses to make it.
Jamais serão esquecidos, estarão pra sempre em nossos corações, tenho 26 anos e crescii ouvindo, mesmo tendo nascido tanto tempo depois da trajédia. Isso mostra como a música deles é eterna!!! 4ever s2
R.I.P Buddy Waylon jennings was suppose to have the flight but insted you were sick so waylon gave the plane ticked to you, to bad the both of yous never took the ture bus =[
Some website I read a great while back said that Buddy had the top of his head gone and the rest were basically crushed or scattered out across the field ,Patsy Cline's plane crashed into a side of a mountain side due to loss of altitude from ice build up on the wings almost like Holly's plane.......
PILOT ERROR - The snow flurry during boarding was a warning of clouds - meaning IFR (Blind) flying conditions. The pilot was not certified to fly IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). The aircraft was not IFR equipped - no artificial horizon or other required IFR gear on board. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot became disoriented in the clouds & the aircraft was seen exiting the base of the clouds upside-down & in a dive. It impacted the ground at a very high speed with no possibility of survivors.
I certainly agree this was pilot error--and a needless waste of life. The aircraft actually had a Sperry artificial horizon, but the pilot was used to the older type, which had a reversed display from the Sperry. He thought he was in a left ascending climb, but was actually in a powerdive to the right. And as you said he wasn't instrument-rated. Unfortunately this is a very common type of accident in general aviation--the crashes that killed Patsy Cline and JFK Jr. involved the same mistake.
the big bopper survived the crash but was shot by someone who thought he was a prowler only he was just gonna ask to use the phone to call an abulance
That's b/s! Big Bopper was killed immediately on impact. He had broken bones from head to toe.He couldn't have walked any where. Ritchie's head was crushed and he was unrecognizable. They all died on impact. They dug up the big bopper a few years ago and put that myth away.
Correct Kyle -The snow flurry during boarding was a warning of clouds - meaning IFR (Blind) flying conditions.
I think your thinking of Delmar "Artimus" Pyle, the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd. When their plane went down in the swamp, even with injuries from the crash made it to a farm house where a farmer saw him all bloody got scared and shot him in the shoulder.
Actually there was more reasons for this: Elvis in the army, Little Richard in the ministry, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis in trouble with the law and the following year Eddie Cochran's death plus Gene Vincent seriously injured...
And Eddie would be dead in a year plus after this recording that was originally designed to garner royalties for the 3 stars families; but there was some problems in the details of this agreement with Liberty and wasn't released during Eddie's life time. RIP all 4!
The crash was caused by the plane the wings where iced up in seconds after plane started and they were all found a day later all sadly missed greatest singers ever sadly missed love Shirlsxx
not true....The piolet didnt know how to read the altimeter. Infact he just failed the test...With swirlling snow and wind by the time it went up it crashed
it's eerie that Eddie himself died just 1 year later in a car crash

I think your thinking of Delmar "Artimus" Pyle, the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd. When their plane went down in the swamp, even with injuries from the crash made it to a farm house where a farmer saw him all bloody got scared and shot him in the shoulder.

hmmm maybe the brits had something to do with their deaths O.O

I would imagine that Buddy Holly would have replaced the beatles and enjoyed the same level of fortune and fame.
As for the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens...
Maybe they would have killed disco and rap.
This was not only a tragedy for Rockabilly, but the whole world.
tomvercetti 2 years ago
Actually there was more reasons for this: Elvis in the army, Little Richard in the ministry, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis in trouble with the law and the following year Eddie Cochran's death plus Gene Vincent seriously injured...

And Eddie would be dead in a year plus after this recording that was originally designed to garner royalties for the 3 stars families; but there was some problems in the details of this agreement with Liberty and wasn't released during Eddie's life time. RIP all 4!
