  • Went to see Jack Scott last week. He's 75 now. What a man!

  • @laviolette64

did he sing "What In the World's Come Over You"?

  • Rest in peace. )':

  • omg. how can u guys standing? i would have to lock my knees together to keep from falling to the ground hysterically crying. RIP Ritchie, We all miss you. :.(

    <3 <3

  • It's really hard to imagine where these 3 stars would have ended up if they never died back then. Ritchie's career was just taking off, I'd imagine he would have had a couple more hits before beatlemania. Its hard to see where big bopper was headed, but he had potential as a song writer. But one thing's for sure Buddy Holly was gonna get bigger and more successful, he was nearly as established s Elvis, but he didn't have the looks so I doubt they'd put him in movies .He'd adapt to the 60's.

  • @hopop313

with Buddy Holly alive the Beatles and many others would have never existed.

  • thank you Ritchie is always in my memory

  • With a tear running down my face, Ritchie how can we forget you and as for Buddy, and the big Bopper you will always be in our hearts always... R.I.P.

  • i have this song on a 45....is it rare?

  • EVERYBODY SENDS THERE LOVEEEEEEEEE. X

  • Beautiful, and heartbreaking to loose three great performers.

  • Was here in May of 2010 and stopped at the Surf Ball Room too.

A visit here to pay respects to all who lost their life's.

Surf Ball room, very eerie when we went up on the stage and into the dressing room.

A trip here a great way to pay tribute to them all

  • i still get buddy i was born and he was gone but i am shite guitar, drums ,just crap but i cant forget him or the music, just weird iam coming screaming into this fucked up world and they were leaving.still love the music, love life, rock on and on and on and on

  • @stadtrade102

well, Brian Setzer was born that year too..

  • Thank God for their incredible talent. They still live through their music, and their music still entertains to this day. God Bless Buddy,Richie,J.P. and the pilot Roger.

  • 52 YEARS TODAY This date may be before your time but, it seems as though it was just yesterday for some of us. Buddy Holly and The Crickets had a couple of big hits, “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue”.Ritchie Valens had three big songs, “Come On, Let’s Go”, “Donna” and “La Bamba”.J. P. Richardson “The Big Bopper” had one big hit “Chantilly Lace” in 1958.These three guys were the forerunners to a lot of the music that we hear today and the world lost a lot of talent on February 3, 1959

  • I was eleven loved there songs or music

63 + still my favor stars

  • RITCHIE VALENS.. RIP NEVER WILL BE FORGOTTEN

  • All three live on through their music.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • i cant belive the recording companies had him change his last name.... my name is VALENZUELA and i am proud of it

  • @virtualdivagirl

    It's a great name to have :) So's mine :)

  • R.i.P ..MY EDDY XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Why does everybody misspell Buddy Holly. His name was Buddy Holley. If you look at his gravestone it will read "Buddy Holley." Ritchie Valens real name was Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes! Both were great musicians but Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes was an inspiration for millions of people because of his background. Rest in Peace both of you.

  • Eram tão bons que Deus os chamou para tocar junto Dele.

  • @silvioturco

    exacto, obrigado pelo comentario

  • Thank God they live on in our memory & we're able to hear their music via this great miracle that is the Internet & YT specially...Those who go through this transition are always in our hearts & prayers...Lite a candle & say an Our Father for their soul. Peace, love & a smile VIVA MARIA!

  • @misa200120 not buddy Ritchie Valens.

  • @kikoelmagnifico

tampoco se vio otro Ritchie Valens nunca más

  • @onemellowdude

    from internet:

"In 1980, someone found Buddy's glasses, four dice, and the Big Bopper's watch, in an envelope in the county courthouse. These items were returned to the families"

  • What a cool tribute video. So ironic that Eddie Cochran did this song. I do humble tribute versions of Ready Teddy & Rave On. Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • @OlRetro

I liked your cover of "Not A Second Time" very much. One of my favorite Beatles songs

  • @misa200120 - wow, thank-you, that was very gracious of you! '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • music hasnt died its just changed its up to us to pass down our music too ur kids as my gran did with elvis and more i have a wide range of music tastes thanks to my gran , mum , dad and aunties

  • @weescotschick

the words are NOT to be taken literally. ...but metaphorically.

  • @weescotschick: Disagree. When these three geniuses passed away - and I truly mean that word - the music industry was robbed of their talents, the fans were robbed of the influences and the next generations were robbed of inspirations.

If they hadn't passed then I guarantee that Simon Cowell (The vampire of the music industry) wouldn't be sucking the life out of music by launching these vapid and talentless frakenstein monsters out in the public domain.

R.I.P -Ritchie, The Big Bopper and Holly

  • @TopherT1979

the accident changed the history of music

  • @TopherT1979

I agree with you, in those days music was music and thos guys had true talent and you could understand what they where singing and they could sing, RIP you guys

  • @TopherT1979 Amen, brother. I had the privilege of growing up in this era. We regarded the tragedy with the reverence and grief usually given only to the passing of a head of state.

  • o'boy was my fav....& what a star he was and still shining in the heavens above,

    R.I.P. Fellows

    sadly missed,

Your music will live on forever!!

  • Poor RICHITE VALENS

  • The crash site has become quite over grown. A fitting memorial.

  • Everytime I see La Bamba I cry constantly at the end....You belong to the stars in heaven!

  • The day when real music died. These days here isn't music at all. Eddie and Buddy were really close friends, this song breaks my heart when he talks about Buddy in this song. I can imagine how upset he was when his two friends, Buddy and Richie died. That day Eddie started to avoid flying and airplanes.

    These guys are amazing.

  • @RockabillyDelilah

  • @SuperRobbie1976 he did...he always thought he died in a plane...weird huh

  • @cmex360 hell of a thing to say on a plane

  • Great tribute from Eddie which I believe was only made 2 days after Buddy died. Buddy's influence cannot be overestimated even though for 30 years he wasn't given any major recognition in the USA. At last he is given his due credit, even by the town of Lubbock who initially couldn't see what all the fuss was about!

  • Great adding Eddie singing as he was a friend of Buddy and I guess he also met the 2 others, Bopper and Ritchie. Thanks for this vid.

  • @misa200120 what a waste of young lives,,lve often wondered why so many cessnas have claimed so many people over the years,l would be interested to know the true figure,,maybe it would make interesting reading for the folks who are not aware of the statistics for this light aircraft,,l would certainly state here and now that the safety record for these aircraft is very poor indeed,,right upto the 1990s,,

  • @robharding1957 It's not that these aircraft are unsafe--they're involved in accidents more often because unlike commercial airliners, small planes are often flown by much less experienced pilots. This accident is a prime example--a non-instrument rated pilot taking off in instrument conditions. General Aviation is as safe as the pilot chooses to make it.

  • They were in a Cessna 310P

  • Jamais serão esquecidos, estarão pra sempre em nossos corações, tenho 26 anos e crescii ouvindo, mesmo tendo nascido tanto tempo depois da trajédia. Isso mostra como a música deles é eterna!!! 4ever s2

  • One of my favourite Eddie Cochran songs. Also another tragic loss.

  • Schade um euch. RIP

  • God Bless. RIP good boys

  • I live in clear lake and winters get bad here even today so i could imagen how bad it was so sad R.I.P Buddy, Ritchie, and the big bopper.

  • God bless them

  • Some website I read a great while back said that Buddy had the top of his head gone and the rest were basically crushed or scattered out across the field ,Patsy Cline's plane crashed into a side of a mountain side due to loss of altitude from ice build up on the wings almost like Holly's plane.......

  • all of them died even the pilot

  • PILOT ERROR - The snow flurry during boarding was a warning of clouds - meaning IFR (Blind) flying conditions. The pilot was not certified to fly IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). The aircraft was not IFR equipped - no artificial horizon or other required IFR gear on board. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot became disoriented in the clouds & the aircraft was seen exiting the base of the clouds upside-down & in a dive. It impacted the ground at a very high speed with no possibility of survivors.

  • I certainly agree this was pilot error--and a needless waste of life. The aircraft actually had a Sperry artificial horizon, but the pilot was used to the older type, which had a reversed display from the Sperry. He thought he was in a left ascending climb, but was actually in a powerdive to the right. And as you said he wasn't instrument-rated. Unfortunately this is a very common type of accident in general aviation--the crashes that killed Patsy Cline and JFK Jr. involved the same mistake.

  • Great video. I still listen to their music, and watch the movies of Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens.

  • the big bopper survived the crash but was shot by someone who thought he was a prowler only he was just gonna ask to use the phone to call an abulance

  • That's b/s! Big Bopper was killed immediately on impact. He had broken bones from head to toe.He couldn't have walked any where. Ritchie's head was crushed and he was unrecognizable. They all died on impact. They dug up the big bopper a few years ago and put that myth away.

  • Correct Kyle -The snow flurry during boarding was a warning of clouds - meaning IFR (Blind) flying conditions.

  • LOL, very funny.

  • I think your thinking of Delmar "Artimus" Pyle, the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd. When their plane went down in the swamp, even with injuries from the crash made it to a farm house where a farmer saw him all bloody got scared and shot him in the shoulder.

  • very very sad

    50 years have passed

but they will never be forgotten

  • sad thing is u ask a normal teenager nowadays they dont know any of these peeps sad... im a teen but i listen to ritchie some times

  • My dad's uncle drove all of them to the airport the day they crashed. Clear Lake Rocks!

  • That was Carroll Anderson, right? He's your great-uncle?

    just type on Google:

Clear Lake, Iowa - Buddy Holly Crash Site

  • Imagine if they had lived...

  • the history would have changed

    No british invasion? who knows...

  • hmmm maybe the brits had something to do with their deaths O.O

  • I would imagine that Buddy Holly would have replaced the beatles and enjoyed the same level of fortune and fame.

As for the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens...

Maybe they would have killed disco and rap.

This was not only a tragedy for Rockabilly, but the whole world.

  • Actually there was more reasons for this: Elvis in the army, Little Richard in the ministry, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis in trouble with the law and the following year Eddie Cochran's death plus Gene Vincent seriously injured...

  • Buddy was major influence on the Rolling Stones,Beatles,Hermans Hermits,,Tommy Roe,Roy Orbison, Linda Ronstadt,Don MacLean, and many many others.-

  • This gives me chills

  • see you in the sky , you too eddie

  • i was born may 13 just like ritchie valens,i was born in 92',and as a small kid i used to sing all his songs
