@ds4758 i know all of these drivers. or at least i've heard of them. every one. even some who didn't make the feild. i don't know a lot about them but throw me a name any name and i could tell you something about them without looking it up
I think if Ernie Irvan was not in that crash in 1994 which cost part of his eyesight would be remembered as a great driver and I think this is also Gordon's rookie year
@AutoRockinRacing94 I think Clint Bowyer might become a Ken Schrader type with his frequent appearances in Nationwide series and Trucks. Joey, Trevor, Austin, and Kyle are givens. Jeffrey now has sponsorship problems, and hasn't been overwhelming yet.
@ds4758 look up your sports history! cheerish it! embrace it! nascar racing in the 1990's was superb! todays races are mediocre for the most part. but almost every race back in the 90's was good

...lol, ken squier: "what a impression he makes....on the wall!" (about Al Unser Jr.)
Yeah i rememeber this race so well, i still got the it on tape...After all these years I'm still sour about, how Jarrett passed Earnhardt on the last lap for the win...so many times...always so close..(till 98)
What very few people know is that he really considered a career move to NASCAR in 1993-1994. Hendrick even offered him a ride, but he ended up staying in CART.
@WillG75 Same thing with Formula One, he tested a Williams, Frank Williams liked him and Pat Head did not. I remember hearing that on WindTunnel this year.
Doesn't seem that long ago. So many great drivers. RIP Dale, Alan, Davey, Neil Bonnett

That curved Armco part they show from 1:22-1:26 when Davey Allison crashed, that's where Elliot Sadler crashed at Pocono last year, right?
TheAntihero6212 11 months ago
@TheAntihero6212 It is, and his engine was torn out of the car and thrown several hundred feet. A very nasty wreck, for both Davey and Sadler.

I'm liking this song. Just as good as the one they used for the '88 500 Starting Lineup

Sounds dumb, but this is what I think who will be in the 500 in 2023:
Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, Trevor Bayne, Jeffrey Earnhardt and maybe a couple more, but that's what envision.

Ugh. I forgot about that "Daytona 500 presented by STP" thing that they did for a few years. So glad they go rid of it.

Why didn't petty's use the 43 that year? They had 44.
quickman55 3 years ago
They didn't use #43 out of respect for The King, who had retired the year before. This was the first race they ran after he retired.
shodan73spike 3 years ago
Thanks. It looked strange how they changed the number like that.

At one time, RCR and Bud Moore each had a Wrangler car.
quickman55 3 years ago
yeah they did
RCR had the #3 Wrangler car with Dale Sr.
Bud Moore Engineering had the #15 Wrangler car with Ricky Rudd in 1984
StewieGriffin1985 3 years ago
Steve Kinser was driving a third Valvoline sponsored car but failed to qualify for the race after crashing in his qualifier with Stanley Smith.

It's still weird seeing Al Unser, Jr. in a Cup car.
