  • Doesn't seem that long ago. So many great drivers. RIP Dale, Alan, Davey, Neil Bonnett

  • @ds4758 i know all of these drivers. or at least i've heard of them. every one. even some who didn't make the feild. i don't know a lot about them but throw me a name any name and i could tell you something about them without looking it up

  • wow little al in nascar. weird. good race. weird seeing a lot of drivers from my youth.

  • Final 500 for Alan K.

  • This is one of my favorite starting grids of all time.

  • Gordon was playing Sega!

  • That curved Armco part they show from 1:22-1:26 when Davey Allison crashed, that's where Elliot Sadler crashed at Pocono last year, right?

  • @TheAntihero6212 It is, and his engine was torn out of the car and thrown several hundred feet. A very nasty wreck, for both Davey and Sadler.

  • I'm liking this song. Just as good as the one they used for the '88 500 Starting Lineup

  • I think if Ernie Irvan was not in that crash in 1994 which cost part of his eyesight would be remembered as a great driver and I think this is also Gordon's rookie year

  • Sounds dumb, but this is what I think who will be in the 500 in 2023:

Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, Trevor Bayne, Jeffrey Earnhardt and maybe a couple more, but that's what envision.

  • @AutoRockinRacing94 I think Clint Bowyer might become a Ken Schrader type with his frequent appearances in Nationwide series and Trucks. Joey, Trevor, Austin, and Kyle are givens. Jeffrey now has sponsorship problems, and hasn't been overwhelming yet.

  • @Porygonseizureman What do you mean by "givens"

  • @AutoRockinRacing94 Certain to succeed.

  • This video has been entered into the '1988 vs 1993' battle at BattlingTube website.

  • Is that Gordons rookie year?

  • @bresher yes this was his first full year in winston cup.

  • @bresher Yes it was and won the award

  • I love this music

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At 0:53! ERNIE IRVAN WITH SHORT SHORTS ON! LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO!

  • Stanley Smith was driving Phil Barkdoll's car & missed the field

  • HALF OF THESE GUYS I DONT NOW

  • probably because all you know is the modern day cup series, this was way better then the crap they have racing today

  • @ds4758 Come on I know almost all of these guys and I was born in 91

  • @ds4758 look up your sports history! cheerish it! embrace it! nascar racing in the 1990's was superb! todays races are mediocre for the most part. but almost every race back in the 90's was good

  • @ds4758 This was when there were one-off as well such as Jimmy Horton and in the previous year Delma Cowart.

  • jeff gordon has a moustache back then! kool!

  • Jeff Gordon with a moustache! ...man!

  • Ugh. I forgot about that "Daytona 500 presented by STP" thing that they did for a few years. So glad they go rid of it.

  • Why didn't petty's use the 43 that year? They had 44.

  • They didn't use #43 out of respect for The King, who had retired the year before. This was the first race they ran after he retired.

  • Thanks. It looked strange how they changed the number like that.

  • WOW YOUR A REAL NASCAR FAN

  • Gordon looked ugly back then.

  • Yeah and Dale Jarett looked pretty good with that moustache, grow it back Dale!!

  • What music/song is this?

  • Isn't Jim Sauter Jay's, Tim's, and Johnny Sauter's father?

  • yes

  • Yes.

  • ...lol, ken squier: "what a impression he makes....on the wall!" (about Al Unser Jr.)

Yeah i rememeber this race so well, i still got the it on tape...After all these years I'm still sour about, how Jarrett passed Earnhardt on the last lap for the win...so many times...always so close..(till 98)

  • Al Unser Jr. looks like Randy Travis

  • His only Cup start...two Valvoline Cars in the race...His and Mark Martin's

  • yeah two Valvoline cars in a race... thats rare

  • At one time, RCR and Bud Moore each had a Wrangler car.

  • yeah they did

RCR had the #3 Wrangler car with Dale Sr.

Bud Moore Engineering had the #15 Wrangler car with Ricky Rudd in 1984

  • Steve Kinser was driving a third Valvoline sponsored car but failed to qualify for the race after crashing in his qualifier with Stanley Smith.

  • It's still weird seeing Al Unser, Jr. in a Cup car.

  • What very few people know is that he really considered a career move to NASCAR in 1993-1994. Hendrick even offered him a ride, but he ended up staying in CART.

  • @WillG75 Same thing with Formula One, he tested a Williams, Frank Williams liked him and Pat Head did not. I remember hearing that on WindTunnel this year.

  • Anybody going to post the finish to this race. I love hearing Ned Jarrett call the Dale and Dale show.

  • i already tried but it didnt work ill try again though

  • they should have made TV show called The Dale & Dale Show with Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jarrett

  • it sucks that Neil Bonnett died a year later. its funny seeing Jeff Gordon with his old moustache

  • I love the cheesy 90's-ness.

  • battalionfan888 rulez!

  • LOL. The music is so corny, LOL i didnt know they did that during the lineups

  • Yeah I know , I really miss the Hans Zimmer Music that they used before this.

  • worst year in nascar......

    R.I.P Alan and Davey

  • What music is playing during this clip?

  • look how young eveyone is 14 years ago

  • lol..Gordon was playing Super Monaco GP for Genisis. I still have a copy of that game

  • I love how Ken Squier says "stand by" at the end; it really makes it sound like you're waiting for something really cool!
